Avatar m tn I do know many have used Requip for RLS and it is non addictive. Vicodin gives you a false sense of security. When i was using in the beginning i had energy that wouldnt quit but towards the end i became depressed and had no energy. Only you can answer the question of being addicted. I would talk to your doctor and ask him what you have asked here. Hopefully you can get off these as those pills are sneaky and your dosage will increase.
Avatar f tn My current sleep doctor feels that Sinemet, a dopamine replacement, should be reserved for use after dopamine agonists such as Requip and Mirapex are no longer useful. I can give you a few hints on optimizing the effectiveness of your Sinemet rather than keep raising dose: No protein to eat unless long enough before dose for the food to have already passed thru the small intestine. Small amout of starchy food food can help when taking med, but no large amounts of food before taking the med.
Avatar f tn The basic technique is to space out the pills you take in a consistent manner until you take only one at night, then half at night and then none. You can try asking a physician to prescribe you some Requip for restless legs, Neurontin for overall distress, Clonidine for blood pressure and general anxiety control and maybe get some over the counter Valerian for sleep and sedation and chelated magnesium for muscle relaxation.
1182133 tn?1266851531 s 0436, day 7 no vics and I did sleep about 6 hours, but I take 1mg klonopin every night for fibro and I take mirapex for RLS -- the vicodin also helps with RLS but the mirapex works better I promise...I get it in my legs, hips and arms and I just want to scream.......see if you can get some samples of that or requip bcuz even with insurance they are expensive. You can get through it - it will get better, oh, just remembered...mirapex.
2730764 tn?1340148833 See if your doctor can write you a prescription for some Requip for restlessness, Neurontin is a great help for anxiety and malaise, some Flexeril or Soma for a few weeks for muscle spasms and maybe some Seroquel low dose for sleep. Clonidine regulates blood pressure, creepy-crawly feeling and will make withdrawals easier. Please don't start taking the opiates again as it will only throw you back into withdrawals once you stop again, or make you relapse.
Avatar f tn It sounds like you have been diagnosed with RLS and requip worked for you well until it was determined to be causing side effects, and you were switched to Sinemet. One known side effect of Requip is swelling in the legs; it sounds like you had an extensive evaluation for all the symptoms you began experiencing after January 2008. Sinemet works well for RLS symptoms, but has a higher risk of eventually causing what is called augmentation, or the occurrence of symptoms earlier in the day.
Avatar n tn It is supposed to be worse after long night without sinemet (requip 0.125 is given every other night and no significant distinguish between with and without it) Sinemet suppose to make motion better and it DID make her better before. Or Dyskinesia completely overridden others (but the Dyskinesia is happened in the jaw/tongue and I don't see any tremor in legs/feet) I tried to find a logic explanation, but no luck! Can this imply sinemet is no good for her anymore?
Avatar f tn Dear Kat, I do know that taking Requip itself can cause hallucinations. But he's been taken off it. Now, stopping Requip can cause confusion. So, I don't know what to make of it. I do recall when I had pneumonia, I was out of my mind, and I have never taken Requip. I suppose it's possible he's having a combination of fever hallucinations, left-over Requip hallucinations, and withdrawal confusion. Any way you look at it, he's having a very hard time.
Avatar f tn See if a doctor can write your friend a prescription for some Requip for restlessness, Neurontin (gabapentin) for anxiety and malaise, some Flexeril or Soma for a few weeks for muscle spasms and maybe some Seroquel low dose, for sleep and Klonopin which will be helpful for sleeplessness and anxiety. It will make his withdrawals easier. Valerian and Magnesium is sometimes helpful remedies over the counter. The residual symptoms of insomnia and depression can last another few months.

Avatar n tn I took requip for about five years - worked, no problem. Then about 4 months ago, I started getting, out of the blue and for no obvious reason, anorexia, nausea, and finally light stomach ache. After a lot of investigative stuff, including an EGD, my gastroenterologist discovered the cause: I had become allergic to requip. Just a note of caution.

I have a huge problem with you taking tramadol "for the detox".
Avatar n tn Hello team! I'm preparing for my big quitting day, October 1! I know some of you folks will question why I set a date, but I have learned from past experieinces that you have to plan for this challenge. My questions is, can anyone tell me what it means when something has "moderate in vitro affinity for opioid receptors"?? I want to try Requip for the terrible RLS I get during wihdrawals.
514273 tn?1311609635 The plan was to always go CT from here. I only bought 3 Subs off the streets and threw away the person's contact info as soon as possible. Because of my addictive nature, it was the best course of action. It was a very restless night, but very manageable compared to previous attempts. I'm in the office and i can't keep my legs from shaking and these dang hot flashes and cold sweats keep coming and going.
Avatar f tn I'm new to this forum.  About 4 years ago I started to take vicodin...to which I became dependant on.   Physically and emotionally.  My boyfriend and I live together, and he's addicted too.  He's actually prescribed to it as he has knee and back trouble.    About a year ago I went to a doctor and he gave me suboxin.  8 mg, twice a day.  So basically we share the vicodin when he gets it and the suboxin when I get it.
Avatar f tn that only means 2 hours after I take thyroid, but I also read on synthroid list not to take calcium for 4 hrs after taking synthroid. I take one caplet in am and one in pm for calcium, and 600 mg calcium and 400 D.
Avatar f tn My doctor was giving me 4 Vicodin 5s a day and it got to were i was taking more then i shld ... now she cut me off.. thank god... My boyfriend who knows all about my addiction in the past doesnt know about this ... and Im trying not to tell him and my mother... it would let them down... I asked a friend to help me... Avatar f tn m currently taking the lowest dose of Requip at night for RLS and it is working pretty well. I tried bcp for the endo, but the mood swings were too much to handle and it did not stop the growth of the endo, so I got off of it. I take vicodin or norco for the endo pain when it gets really bad. I'm also experimenting with diet changes, but it's a very hard and slow process cutting out so much (caffeine, sugar, fats, red meat, processed food, wheat, and dairy).
Avatar f tn I have been taking Vicodin, Oc's, whatever I can get my hands on for about 2 years. Before that , I was taking stimulants, adderol,. ritalin, anything to get me "motivated" as I call it. Then I discovered the pain meds, and life was great! Until I couldn't get them anymore. Then it sucked for a while, then I got more, etc I 'm sure you all know the story. Well, sparing all the details I decided to get clean, kind of by choice, today is day 4 clean of any opiates.
Avatar n tn Trying to taper off and get off opiates, morphine and oxy. can clonidine be taken at the same time to help with not having as much of the opiates? and help with the withdrawls?
Dog Besides Mirapex, the other medications that are approved to treat Restless Legs Syndrome are Neurontin, Requip and Neupro. I recommend speaking to your doctor about these medications to see if one may be appropriate for you.
620048 tn?1358018235 My pulmomologist gave me ropinirole (Requip) because i have so much movement in my limbs, especially my feet, when I am sleeping and when I am awake too. I was looking up the drug and i found this side effect........ 'Some people using ropinirole have developed a gambling habit. It is not known whether ropinirole actually causes this effect. Talk with your doctor if you believe you have an unusual urge to gamble while you are taking ropinirole.
Avatar f tn requip during the day and 2 mg. requip at night along with klonopin and other sleep aids. I just split my head open walking around the house unawares. 6 stiches and broken lamps. I asked my doc about early onset of parkinson's.........is this what they go thru? I haven't slept a 7 hour night in at least 8 years. No bs. Usually I sleep 2-4 hours. I'm trying to get some barbituates from overseas because I'm so desperate. Gosh, I could relate to you.
Avatar n tn m totally becoming homeless and the doctors are trying to find me any relief. Requip and gapapintin is what I been on for years and other types including patches Nupro to little help and now Requip is to little help and a couple hours of sleep night after night I worry is this. I'm off work do to showing positive COVID-19 with that being said you see I'm battling some difficult things.
Avatar f tn i mean, for drugs such as vicodin it takes longer than that, in my experience and i know methadone has a pretty bad w/d, so to drop so fast seems kinda strange, but again, that is only my opinion. i mean the point of methadone is to gt you to taper off, sounds more like they sent you out cold turkey so to speak. i hope something i have said helps, good luck to you and keep reaching out.
Avatar f tn It's possible that you have a real medical issue with RLS and if that's the case Requip works great and it's not addictive! On the other hand if it does have something to do with w/d's then I would suggest eating bananas as they really do help. If the bananas don't work after a few days then I would go to your doctor and tell him what's going on with your legs and he will probably give you the Requip. I'm currently taking it and with no side effects at all.
