My current sleep doctor feels that Sinemet, a dopamine replacement, should be reserved for use after dopamine agonists such as Requip and Mirapex are no longer useful.
I can give you a few hints on optimizing the effectiveness of your Sinemet rather than keep raising dose: No protein to eat unless long enough before dose for the food to have already passed thru the small intestine. Small amout of starchy food food can help when taking med, but no large amounts of food before taking the med.
There is no change in urinary, or bowels ( except I do not have a bowel movement 6 times a day like I used to. My doc has ruled out MS, infection and any disc that may be out of place in my spine. I did have a stroke the he said occurred on the right side. I'm in need of some answers as this is progressing.
It sounds like you have been diagnosed with RLS and requip worked for you well until it was determined to be causing side effects, and you were switched to Sinemet. One known side effect of Requip is swelling in the legs; it sounds like you had an extensive evaluation for all the symptoms you began experiencing after January 2008.
Sinemet works well for RLS symptoms, but has a higher risk of eventually causing what is called augmentation, or the occurrence of symptoms earlier in the day.
It is supposed to be worse after long night without sinemet (requip 0.125 is given every other night and no significant distinguish between with and without it) Sinemet suppose to make motion better and it DID make her better before. Or Dyskinesia completely overridden others (but the Dyskinesia is happened in the jaw/tongue and I don't see any tremor in legs/feet)
I tried to find a logic explanation, but no luck! Can this imply sinemet is no good for her anymore?

I do know that taking Requip itself can cause hallucinations. But he's been taken off it. Now, stopping Requip can cause confusion. So, I don't know what to make of it. I do recall when I had pneumonia, I was out of my mind, and I have never taken Requip. I suppose it's possible he's having a combination of fever hallucinations, left-over Requip hallucinations, and withdrawal confusion. Any way you look at it, he's having a very hard time.

Did you have another MRI because back in November you stated in a different community that your MRI was negative?
"I have had a negative brain MRI, negative spinal tap, I have been lab tested for everything under the sun and all negative accept HSV1 and HSV2. I have had xray's of my spine and shoulders, and an EMG of my legs all negative.
I took requip for about five years - worked, no problem. Then about 4 months ago, I started getting, out of the blue and for no obvious reason, anorexia, nausea, and finally light stomach ache. After a lot of investigative stuff, including an EGD, my gastroenterologist discovered the cause: I had become allergic to requip. Just a note of caution.
people say it does not progress but i have to disagree and so would alot of fibro suffers, its a crippling disease in some and others manage to conrol it and work with it,it has simular sx to MS being a CNS disorder and for a lonf time i thought i had MS it was only when the MRI came back clear dd they dx fibro i also have myofascial pain symdrome which is common amoung fibros which is to do with the fasia tissues of the muscles.
I am on 100 fentanal patches and requip and clonazapam.
