For the interferons Avonex is known to have the fewest side effects and the lowest incidence of creating neurtralizing antibodies. Then comes Rebif and betseron is known to have the highest dose, the highest incidence of side effects and, by far, the highest incidence of neutralizing antibodies. Copaxone seems to be without many/any body side effect at all, but the local side effects can apparently be quite annoying.

All of the CRABs seem to have a similar effectiveness in the 30% range as far as reducing relapse. In my case, as long as I inject manually, I don't really get a very painful sting or welt, just some minor itching for a half hour. My MRI showed that there were no changes in 3 years, my antibodies test to rebif was negative but I continued to feel worse. In March my dr started talking about tysabri. I was freaked out but desperate to feel better. After waiting for insurance to approve and waiting for rebif to clean out of my body I had my first tysabri infusion on June 3rd, 2014. By the next day I could tell that it was easier to get up and my balance seemed better.

What does NEUTRALIZING EFFECT and PRONUNCED EFFECT mean .My neurologist is on vacation.The results are from a meningiona on 4/2010.I dont have any knowledge of what the effects mean.If you could write what each one means it would be greatly appreciated.

Hi all- I am just writing to let everyone know that I am about to start tysabri infusions in late June. My neurologist thought that based on the "large lesion load" in my t-spine that Rebif was simply not working for me. Because I am young, and he wants to "give me the best chance" for quality of life he thought tysabri is the best choice for me (despite the risky side effects).

So, first thing is he wants to check to see if I have neutralizing antibodies to the Avonex. If I do and they are in high titer, then there is no sense in continuing with the Avonex or any other Interferon-beta. The test for antibodies is highly specialized and done by very few labs. The one he trusts is on the East Coast and it costs $1000. It sounds like Medicare will cover it (????) We'll see.

As you may know, I was diagnosed with MS in April and have been on Rebif. I have had 2 relapses while on it. The first one was just a week of muscle spasms. I am currently in the 2nd one now and it has been active since 8/11/10. I have 3 days of I.V Solumedrol the 1st of sept and have felt no relief. With this one I have been having some new things going on that do not seem to fit with MS, at least not anything I can find. So this is what I'm hoping you can help me with.

This is to possibly calm down the immune system and lower the Antithyroid Peroxidase antibodies. I take a multivitamin which provides 100 mcg selenium and eat well, so I probably get at least 200 mcg selenium in my diet each day. I know there is a toxicity to selenium, so I am wary of taking it in addition to my vitamin and food. Also, I did have my selenium levels done, and the result came back great - high normal range.

sent me a script to check for NABs to interferon beta1a (was on Rebif). Because I did not want to sit at the labcorp for an hour while they figure what type of tube to put it in, etc. I decided to call. I'm not getting anywhere w/this with the lab. They've never heard of it, checking the computer etc. Nothing so far. Quix, JonM, you both were checked? Anyone else? Do you have to go to a special lab for this?

he is now on steroids and has to decide what med to go on. he had to stop the tysabri because he was building up antibodies against the medicine. he former doctor suggested he go off it and consider the oral medince. since then his doctors prtice closed and now we are seeing a new doctor. we are very confused. does any one have any advice?
