rebif efficacy

Thanks everyone! I will do some more research on these and see what best fits me.

I have MS and have been taking Rebif foe 7 years. It has worked very well. I just learned that my current drug insurance plan from Humana will not cover Rebif in 2015. What plans cover at least some of the Rebif cost? My copay with Humana was about $300 per month. Would like not to exceed this amount.

Does anyone know if there are any statistics showing the effectiveness of Rebif if used only twice a week versus three times a week? My husband will be losing his job come the end of August, and along with that, our benefits. I figure if I start now going to only 2 times a week, between now and the end of August I can make my Rebif last for at least another month. I know this is not the best thing to do, but it appears to possibly be the only solution.

Hello! I've just been diagnosed with MS and am wondering which drug is better. I've read the material for Copaxone, Rebif, Avonex, and Betaseron. I've narrowed it down to two -- Rebif or Copaxone based mainly on side effects. Which drug is the best?

The Comparison of Alemtuzumab and Rebif® Efficacy in Multiple Sclerosis (CARE-MSSM) I and II studies are designed to determine the safety and effectiveness of the investigational drug alemtuzumab as compared to the FDA-approved therapy Rebif (interferon beta-1a), in adults with relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS). The studies will look for differences between these drugs on the progression of disability and in the number of relapses (flare-ups) and brain lesions caused by MS.

Hi there, So very glad you saw this, and still check in when you can. Your note is lovely. And, don't thank me, it's that blessing that was put on this forum. I sure don't know who asked for it originally, but I do know where it comes from. I, like many of us, seem to never forget those who have touched the forum in one way or another like you have. Has anyone else gotten the new Rebidose injector? I just noticed there is no way to adjust the depth setting. I was at setting 1 on Rebif. I'm a nervous wreck about injecting tonight, because at 76#s, I have no fat.

I'm starting my 5th year on Tysabri, and I continue to be JCV negative - YAYY!! I'm doing well on it!

When I was dx'ed last fall my neuro gave me info on 3 studies: Rebif New Formulation vs placebo; efficacy of combining Avonex and Copaxone; and a natural history study, as an adjunct to the Avonex/Copaxone study. I declined all of them as I live about 450 kms from the research facility and being in a study involves monthly follow ups. Winter was around the corner, I was overwhelmed by my dx, and did not want to make a commitment to be doing all that travel.

As some may have seen, Abagio the 2nd oral is now approved. Important to note (my opinion) - When compared to Rebif. Don't mean to be skeptical my friends, I'm just the type of person who wants some comparisons to existing meds with track records.

She said that a study was done, paid for by the makers of Rebif, to determine if Rebif or Avonex were better at treating MS than Copaxone. I've got the nurse coming out tomorrow to take me through my first Rebif injection but this morning I've woken up with cold sores covering almost my entire lower lip....is it still ok to go ahead with starting rebif or should I put it off til I'm less run down? sorry if this is a silly question but I want to get off to a good start being as I have waited so long to start a dmd!

I have a choice between copaxone or rebif injection. I read copaxone has more external side effects and rebif has more internal side effects. I would like to have feedback on this. Good and bad information would be great. Think I'm going with copaxone, but kind on fence a little.

Hi all, I have been on Rebif for about 18 months now and it makes me constantly feel like ****, sorry for the expression! What I mean is I just never feel normal. I came off it for 2 months in Jan to try for a baby, I have never felt so great, I had a relapse after 6 wks so my neuro said trying for another child was a bad idea for me and my family, so I went back on the Rebif. I was just thinking should I try another dmd to see if it makes me feel better or are they all gonna be the same?

Copaxone is the weakest and he did not recommend it for me. Betaseron, Rebif and Avonex are essentially the same drug, Intefereon beta, administered in different doses. My Neuro is a big believer in Neutralizing antibodies. Avonex NAB rate is around 5% Rebif around 10-15% Betaseron 25-30% NABs can bind to the active side of the interferon molecule rendering it useless. So naturally (if you believe in NABs) you would likely pick the one with the lowest NABs.

My neuro took me off Rebif when I was having a reaction to medications to see if it was the Rebif. It wasn't and she started me back on full dose the following week. Confessions? I didn't take it over Christmas (I missed two) because sometimes I do get that flu like thing going. I didn't want to miss any fun.

s known that some people on the Interferons, Avonex and Rebif have had no additional lesions, that have lasted years. That was my experience when I took Avonex. Since I now take Copaxone and have only been on it for a little over a year, I cannot give you a personal view of how well the drug is working for me. I am beginning to notice less relapses, though. How DMD's work is not fully understood.

I have been on Rebif for about 4-5 weeks now and am doing M,W,F injections and just started the 44mcg doses. Seems that each time I give an injection the experience is different. Sometimes it barely hurts and sometimes it stings soo bad going in. I am having a really hard time with this and feel silly because I'm a nurse myself..but last wednesday it hurt so bad I had to sit there and cry...

So the ins company wont pay for Copaxone or Gilynia until my daughter first tries Rebif (i guess because its cheaper for them.) I have a concern with her being on an interferon due to the possible mental health side effects. She is already on Lexapro for anxiety and mild depression. I dont want anything adding to the issue. We have dr app tomorrow to discuss Rebif but I dont want her on it. Anyone have bad side effects with Rebif??? Any advise for me?? Thank you.

I have been on Rebif for four months now, and I am not going to do another shot, I can't handle the side effects. I've tried premedicating and nothing seems to work. How many of you are in the same situation? and what did you do?

I took my first shot of Rebif today. I gave myself the shot and i thought this is great no stinging, no redness, no lump like i had with Copaxone. Then WHAM!!!! I had abdominal pain about an hour after the shot it lasted for about 6hrs The only thing i could compare it to was a 6hr nonstop labor pain. We will see what happens Monday when i take the next shot. Does anyone else get this abdominal pain on Rebif.
