rebif drug

I just learned that my current drug insurance plan from Humana will not cover Rebif in 2015. What plans cover at least some of the Rebif cost? My copay with Humana was about $300 per month. Would like not to exceed this amount.

It sounds like you're going through a flare right now, so it's going to be hard to make a decision. First thing to remember is that the CRAB drugs slow progression, and don't do anything for current symptoms. The literature for Copaxone says that it reduces the amount of exacerbations and makes the flares less extreme. I dunno... First few months I was on Copaxone, I had a couple of mini-flares, but now after a year, I seem to be in remission.

I see nothing in the drug literature that would incidate Cancer as a side effect of Rebif injections. There are considerations concerning the liver but even that was not cancer related. Althought family history of BC is a factor, it only accounts for a very small percentage of diagnosed cases. Regards...

What is usually the cost of these meds? ( I am considering trying Rebif or Avonex) I have heard they run about $1500/month. I have to meet a $3000 deductible which means I may have to pay for my first dose. I don't have an extra $1500 floating around. I am really starting to freak out! But then again part of me figures I have probably had MS for 15-20 years an I am fine so far. I guess waiting another 1-2 months to start taking DMDs can't hurt. Can it?

So the ins company wont pay for Copaxone or Gilynia until my daughter first tries Rebif (i guess because its cheaper for them.) I have a concern with her being on an interferon due to the possible mental health side effects. She is already on Lexapro for anxiety and mild depression. I dont want anything adding to the issue. We have dr app tomorrow to discuss Rebif but I dont want her on it. Anyone have bad side effects with Rebif??? Any advise for me?? Thank you.

I have been on Rebif for four months now, and I am not going to do another shot, I can't handle the side effects. I've tried premedicating and nothing seems to work. How many of you are in the same situation? and what did you do?

I would be in no hurry to jump to the oral drugs until you see if Rebif works for you. GIlenya is a stronger drug, but my msologist uses this analogy ... You don't want a riding mower to cut your lawn when you a push mower will do. Bigger is not always better. Save G as a next drug to try if Rebif doesn't work for you. Rebif was the first drug my Neuro placed me on, and I wasn't able to handle the drug too well. Currently, I'm taking Copaxone and I'm not sick with the flu like symptoms. However, Rebif shows to be a little more effective. Copaxone is working very slow. I've been having problems and not sure what to do. Although, I have plans to speak to my Neuro and go over my home charting to see what direction we need to go.

Copaxone is the weakest and he did not recommend it for me. Betaseron, Rebif and Avonex are essentially the same drug, Intefereon beta, administered in different doses. My Neuro is a big believer in Neutralizing antibodies. Avonex NAB rate is around 5% Rebif around 10-15% Betaseron 25-30% NABs can bind to the active side of the interferon molecule rendering it useless. So naturally (if you believe in NABs) you would likely pick the one with the lowest NABs.

I have been taking Rebif injections, since January 2010, and I have never missed a single one, until now. Up until January 1, 2012, I have received my Rebif injections, free of charge, due to the fact I had no health insurance. Hi. I've just finished the titration stage and am now on 44 dose of Rebif using the rebismart. As the dose increased I've had really bad stinging like a bee sting when the drug starts going in. I'm starting to dread the injections already. I would be very grateful for any tips to reduce the sting as I'm a newbie to this. Many thanks, Sue.

Hi, I was so happy to read the news but, I'm currently on Rebif, so I don't see a reason to switch, only thing is no injecting..... And rebif does not have the hair loss, and fatal liver damage warning ....

I was actually ready to start it within a month of my dx, but the MS clinic was putting off calling in my prescription because they wanted me to have full drug coverage in place before starting (through the provincial MS Drug Program in Alberta). I already have 90% drug coverage through my employer and more than willing to pay the 10% difference until the other plan kicked in.

I had to use Rebif injections from 2007 until 2010. I was misdiagnosed with MS. What I want to know is what are the long term side effects of having used this medication for so long? What has it done to my body?

Tecfidera has more side effects than Rebif but not everyone gets the side effects. Also Tecfidera has not been around as long so they do not know what long term side effects there are. I would go with the one you will best follow through with if that is a pill then Tecfidera.
