Rebif depression

Common Questions and Answers about Rebif depression

rebif

Avatar f tn Hey, mama. This is Melinda & I've been taking Rebif for 3 -4 months now. At first, I had the common flu-like symptoms of chills, aches and so forth. After a couple weeks of treatments, and taking ibuprofen before each shot, those symptoms passed. I also have unusually sensitive skin so had minor problems near injection sites. I've been treated for depression & anxiety for years.

1149087 tn?1415316549 hi all, i just thought it may be helpful for some if i shared my experience with rebif regarding depression as a side effect in someone vulnerable to depression. i have seen a previous post about rebif which goes in that direction although in this case (sunny..-your post) it may not be due to the rebif of course.
1149087 tn?1415316549 Thanks heaps for your good advice- which I will heed, too. I've just had the second Rebif injection and I'll see how I'm doing with the Rebif for the next couple of days. If the depression stays it's probably not a good idea to stay on- but will also consult with my neuro tomorrow.
503486 tn?1340976774 They can give you more medication to fight the depression, if the Novantrone causes any additional depression. Please keep us updated about your Rebif too.
Avatar f tn ve noticed that depression is also worse on Rebif-but when I told my MS Specialist in February that I was depressed-she said to me, smiling, "And your problems are bigger than everyone elses?" So, I won't discuss depression with her again.
2201229 tn?1338691266 Shoot yes, that is normal. Depression is a regular for almost eveyrone with MS. There are two type of depression at play here - the first is a true chemical depression that can come from the problems in our brain. the other depression is situational - and the situation we find ourselves in with MS is a big cause of depression. There are lots of way to deal with both of these depressions - talk therapy with a psychological counselor or a peer counselor through NMSS is always a good option.
11924850 tn?1601364171 Hello. Does anyone take Rebif for MS? Is it helping? How long before any improvement? Does anyone think that it's just a false hope with nasty side effects? Thanks.
771085 tn?1268010265 I suffer from depression and was on Rebif and it increased my depression as well as suicidal thoughts. After the increase in my lexapro (anti-depressant) did not help my Neutrologist took me off Rebiff and wants me to switch to Copaxone. He said Copaxone has a very low rate of increasing depression. The injections for me weren't bad and I adjusted and tolerated doing it myself with ease. I urge you to give the medication a fair shake.
1378566 tn?1286930813 If you were only diagnosed in July it seems like your Doctor is trying to treat it aggressively considering you already have new lesions. Celexa for depression is a safe bet considering Rebif has been shown to increase depression in patients with a history of depression Another safe bet would be to get some complete blood test work up as well to make sure there aren't other issues causing some of the unwanted symptoms like fatigue.
1896537 tn?1381900009 I've got the nurse coming out tomorrow to take me through my first Rebif injection but this morning I've woken up with cold sores covering almost my entire lower lip....is it still ok to go ahead with starting rebif or should I put it off til I'm less run down? sorry if this is a silly question but I want to get off to a good start being as I have waited so long to start a dmd!
1983221 tn?1333506185 Yes, I'm covered by AB Blue Cross Non-group. All the way. No questions asked. I just started Rebif, (like, literally two hours ago) and I'm a little worried about the potential for depression as well, considering I too have been there. I spoke to my nurse about it when she came over today, and she actually said she hasn't heard of Rebif causing depression (she could just be a little "out of touch", though.
432312 tn?1265644974 After a year I had another exasubation that landed me in the hospital. A few months later my Dr told me about Rebif which was new to the market at that time. Rebif is a 3 times a week shot and the shot goes into the fatty tisue just under the skin. The flu symptoms were worse at first but left almost completely after a few months. Last year I tried to return to work. I missed quite a few shots and the flu symptoms came back including this time extreme eye pain.
Avatar m tn ve kicked around the CRABs here, a lot. Copaxone, Rebif, Avonex, and Betaseron are the primary four. Your doctor didn't offer Tysabri as your fifth, did he? I like the Decision Maker tool in the uk that walks you through the drugs and helps you figure what is important for you. You can access this at http://www.msdecisions.org.uk welcome to the world of drugs aand bills. I'm glad to hear you are getting treatment for your CIS. Congrats on that one.
Avatar f tn I also have thyroid disease, take Lipitor, and have a history of depression, so had some extra fears about taking Rebif -- but so far, no problems there. Hope this helps -- any questions, just ask -- great folks here!
Avatar f tn If its not the Rebif, it could very well be that you are reacting to your own situation (situational depression) or to the physical effects of the disease (chemical depression). It is well documented that depression in MS patients is very common, and it can be caused by the disease itself or the effect of knowing you have this MiSerable disease. I hope that makes sense.
Avatar n tn I had to use Rebif injections from 2007 until 2010. I was misdiagnosed with MS. What I want to know is what are the long term side effects of having used this medication for so long? What has it done to my body?
Avatar f tn t cause depression, but I had bad depression shortly after I was dx. I literally woke up one day and couldn't stop crying. My husband was deployed to Iraq at the time, I lived away from my family and I wouldn't take anyone's calls. I lost 10 lbs in a week..I eventually called my MS doc and he put me on Welbutrin. I have been on that for about 2 yrs. It's not bad enough that it's depressing to have MS, but MS also causes depression because it affects the brain.
Avatar f tn Ronnielynn, You still with us? How you feeling? I was on the Rebif, which is an inteferon similiar to what you are starting. Had all the common symptoms they warn of, which include flu-like, feverish, achey, etc. It did not last long for me. After a couple months, I adjusted to the meds like they said I would. I did have the silver dollar size injection site redness too. However, it wasn't so bad as the needle for Rebif is very thin.
1267037 tn?1274701494 cid=36 As to whether this is an increase in depression because of Rebif - hard to say. The loss of coordination - if it persists - argues against that. I hope things straighten out.
