I am a 29 yr old male, had a superficial duodenal ulcer in 2005, My doc had suggested Rabeprazole sodium 20mg which worked well then, he suggested i use it when ever i felt stomach burning or nausea. I have been using Rabeprazole for 5 years now, was workin good, recently my symptoms were back and i started taking 2 doses 20mg each daily.

Mix 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda (sodium bicarbonate, not baking powder) in an 8 ounce glass and drink it. If sufficient quantities of acid are present in the stomach, bicarbonate of soda is converted into gas, producing significant bloating and belching within 5 or 10 minutes of drinking the mix. Little or no belching is suspicious for low stomach acid.

I saw the doctor a few times and he put me as GERD and aeroflagia and prescribed Pariet 20 mg (rabeprazole sodium) and I am bit better but just lying on my side in bed (carpet or futon is no problem) is enough to bring up the gases. Last Dr told me that you are infected with H-pilory after endoscopy and he treated me with heavy antibiotics followed by treatment for IBS. I think it was, but the Dr. said she would let me know it there was a problem. I am currently on rabeprazole for a duodenial ulcer. Not working. I used to be on Prevacid for excess stomach acid, but stopped using it when I went on the rabeprazole. I have an appt. on Monday with Dr. and hope he can find a solution. I have had acidity (esophageal reflux) for ages and I take Rabeprazole 10mg every day for last 4yrs. I am not a type A guy, don't have any rigid rules/disciplines as such. In the meantime I have quit smoking, tobacco, cut down on alcohol (once a week), trying to eat healthy, not over-work etc. Is there any medication that would help? ENT did a scope of throat, said it was inflammed and swollen and suspected LPR, gave me a different PPI rabeprazole and took it for 2 weeks. Still no improvement, having throat pain only on right side. Hi, my doc put me on 14d Prevpac treatment today. I've been taking Prilosec during the past month or so to get my symptoms under control. It works quite well for me. I have never taken Prevacid before. Are these two the same thing? Can I use Prilosec to substitute the Prevacid in the pack?
