Avatar f tn I just started back on Abilify and ambien (temporarily for sleep) after being off meds for 10 days. I am taking 10mg which is an increase from the 5mg that i was on. I was experiencing psychosis, paranoia, anxiety, and sleep deprivation. I'm not sure how my mood was at the time. When i went to my psychiatrist he mentioned Schizoaffective disorder but did not diagnose me with it.
Avatar f tn Hi there, Thanks for reaching out! Lack of sleep on opiates is unusual although some folks do report feeling more 'up'/wired on them. For instance, were you taking the benzos or Ultrams BEFORE your taper? Do you drink? I ask because these are the more likely culprits in a 'psychotic' episode. Fits of rage don't necessarily indicate psychosis. They might be from a very natural anger at yourself/your situation. (I know that I've felt like that at times.
1794093 tn?1357930759 I definitely understand the sleep deprivation. It really ***** :( I work overnights and have a terrible time trying to sleep during the morning/afternoons. Im also up every hour, or hour and a half, then still manage to work/do things around the house. I always thought the 2nd trimester was supposed to be the best, sure i dont feel sick anymore, but this has been brutal for sleep. Thats exciting about your ultrasound coming up, and really exciting that you are not finding out the gender!
1926359 tn?1331588139 m going down by a third a week-the doc said this was ambitious but I really want to be free so there you have it. If I can get a few nights good sleep I will be prepared to deal with the sleep deprivation again....Ugh. So easy to put in your body...so hard to get out. Wish me luck with the sleep fairies tonight....
Avatar f tn As a teenager I went through a year of sleep deprivation. I got about six hours of sleep a night. I felt very sleepy every day and even had feelings of confusion and derealization. Did I cause any permanent damage to my brain? In addition, has damage caused by oxidative stress and free radicals irreversibly increased my cancer risk?
480804 tn?1208236518 It seems she is probably suffering from Sleepwalking and sleep talking as she might be under stress and sleep deprivation seems to be cause. Sleepwalking occurs usually early in the night and usually don’t remember their actions, also may be difficult to awaken, and usually feel confused or disoriented upon being awakened.
Avatar n tn 5 which I feel fine.. As of late I have been waking up with what my friend believes is psychotic episodes, moments of ultra confusion for me as I usually have no recolection. It is now getting to the point where I could hurt myself as I thrash about and walk into walls. I had a CT Scan which showed no problem. These attacks which I thought where TIA"s (Transient ischaemic attacks) mini strokes if you like proved otherwise..
Avatar f tn Your symptoms can be summarized as paranoia with auditory hallucinations. Causes of paranoia include sleep deprivation, stress, drug use, and psychiatric disorders ranging from paranoid personality disorder to schizophrenia. If you feel that you are losing touch with reality and/or your symptoms are interfering with daily activities, consult a psychiatrist.
Avatar n tn There not sure why warm milk help sleep as tryptophan only helps with the initial cycle of sleep but can disrupt deep sleep, but you may want to try it to help you get to sleep initially just only drink a small glass. There is something called Lactium in milk which relaxes infants but there is an all natural medication called dreamerz food that contains a consentrated amount of Lactium(enough for an adult) along with melatonin that has gotten alot of great attention.
Avatar f tn I had my first episode at 14, realized it was bipolar at 20, and finally took medication this year, at 42. I am BP1, and lived my life around the disorder and still felt it progress to a psychotic breakdown. I would say that as my body aged and couldn't recover from severe episodes, it got way worse for me. The moods I could handle, the craziness of starting over was what really wore me down. The mania of BP1 is really the destroyer.
Avatar f tn I am on Lamictal and it's worked great so far - but I do have these delusions, at times! It's scary at times because they are so real - and I know it's my paranoia kicking in. My ex told me all of these things that I didn't remember until getting on Lamictal - really paranoid things. It was weird because I would ask him - "Did I do this???" or "Did I say that??
5051252 tn?1362970368 What you are experiencing is in the class of neurological events called (loosely) a psychotic episode. I have them, too, but mine are very mild... I just see some shadows that aren't there sometimes. Please see your doctor about this as soon as possible, to rule out things like your brain not receiving enough oxygen, blood work to rule out any danger of diabetes or low blood counts, things of that sort.
1256303 tn?1291752568 For schizoaffective, you have to have the psychosis part (the part A criterion for schizophrenia) for at least 2 weeks without being in the middle of a mood episode. If you only ever have psychosis while in a mood episode, then it's probably bipolar with psychotic features. But it doesn't really matter from a treatment standpoint; you'll need an antipsychotic and maybe lithium/an anticonvulsant mood stabilizer as well to control the bipolar and the psychosis either way.
Avatar m tn Let's say i suffer from psychotic depression.I read it is treat with a combination of antipsychotic and triciyclic antidepressants.
Avatar m tn Its also worth mentioning here that sometimes during this Non-Psychotic state I also do a lot of household work ( both outside and inside ) with enthusiasm although there is depression in my subconscious mind.
Avatar f tn Sleep deprivation can make you sound and act crazy. I have been there. As for having trouble falling asleep, that could be due to high cortisol. You need more rest. Is there any way you can get it?
1255530 tn?1269867619 ya I agree and Im already on klodipin but they dont help with sleep I have a high Torrence for benzos iv been taking 3 mg to 4 zanex mg for 2 years and I get .5 klodipins not exactly gonna help lol. and yes Iv self medicated those but its kept me half sane during my depressed and mixed and manic episodes since I cycle so quicly. now Im down to maybe once two times a week as to where I could cycle a few times a day so its a miricale to me the drugs theyve given me.
