prozac weight side effects

My question is, does Prozac have low side effects like Zoloft but does it work better? And should I be taking a SSRI or SNRI for depression and anxiety, what works better with less side effects?

ve heard that some people lose weight on prozac, but some people who are skinny to begin with (like me) often gain weight with prozac. I've been off it for ages but have recently gone on it again. I'm having a hard time adjusting back to it as well. From what I remember, last time it took me about a month before the side effects went away. You could try mirtazapine (Avanza) it wont affect your sex drive. I tried it, but it made me way too drowsy.

I recently started taking Abilify and am experiencing uncontrolled shaking and light-headedness. What are the side effects of Abilify and are these a couple of them. Should I try something else to help with my depression. THe Psych. said that this in concert with my prozac should help me out. Thanks for your help.

Did the blurred vision precede the headache? That would indicate a migraine or migraine-like headache. As for the anxiety getting worse, Prozac is known to be the most stimulating ssri and because of that is the least successful one used for anxiety. The good thing about it is that it's the easiest to stop taking and doesn't usually have the weight gain and some other side effects associated with the others.

I have switched from prozac to wellbutrin xl due to sexual side affects. Prozac worked great for everything else for the past 11 years. I have been on Wellbutrin for 3 days and have severe insomnia, constipation and dizziness. Will these side effects last long? Will they go away eventually?

Next day I started taking 80 mg Prozac and withdrawal effects diminished. Also stopped gaining weight but cannot lose the pounds I gained during Effexor. After 3 weeks with Prozac I feel very tired all day, even after sleeping 15 hours or more. And depression came back and hit me. I don´t know what to do.

After being on Prozac 10 mg since June 09 dr had me just stop it due tpo the side effects I was having weight gain,bad dizzziness and no sex drive................should i have done a taper off it.............is it dangerous to have just stopped it?

re most likely going through some withdrawal from the Paxil. You could also be having start up side effects from the Prozac. If we do get start up side effects it can be hard to say how long they'll last. I'm not sure what advice I can give you as far as what med to take. Maybe give the Prozac a little more time but if the side effects keep up or get worse then see your Dr.

I have been on Lexapro several times over the last 4 years for 6 months to 2 years at a time. I am having problems with the sexual side effects and the weight gain. It's actually less of a "weight gain" than a shift in body composition. My pants are too tight and my shirts are more fitted but I haven't actually gained a pound. I am a competitive runner and haven't changed my exercise or eating habits over the last 2 years.

The bad news is, it will probably be much more difficult for you to adjust to the Prozac this time around, you may have to endure more side effects that are bothersome. The GOOD news is, the side effects still should subside in about 2 weeks (maybe a little less). The Xanax will definitely help with the side effects as well. You may want to speak with your doctor and see if he would be okay with you taking a slightly higher dose of the Xanax while you adjust to the Prozac...just a few weeks.

I had no problems with sex drive when I was on Prozac, and Wellbutrin has no sexual side-effects or weight gain. You should speak to your doctor about the risks / benefits of stopping the cipralex. He/she may recommend adding a small dose of Wellbutrin to see if that will help with the decreased libido or try switching you to another SSRI to see if that helps.

Hi there. Is this better? Prozac does give some gi side effects. When my son started this, he had nausea and it lasted for about a week and a half and then began getting better. He chewed ginger gum, ate tums and peptobismal chews. They seemed to help him. Was trazadone new as well? I will say that unless something is really awful, giving a full trial is best in my opinion. My son actually needed the full dose of prozac of 80 mg, so prepare that they may tweak your dosage as well.

I have been on both citalopram and prozac but citalopram was longterm weight gain, dry mouth and headaches and prozac major short term weight gain. Came of prozac for that reason after only a few months and wonder if it would've settled with time, or go back to the one i was on for 12 years but had some side effects including weight gain. Doc says my last option is mirtazapine but it is also an appetite stimulator.

Everyone reacts differently to meds though, so maybe you should talk to your doctor about the side effects and see if there is another med that might be better. I started on Zoloft but I was struggling with the side effects....I couldn't sleep and I always felt extremely jittery and nauseous. After switching to Prozac those symptoms went away for the most part, and I'm feeling much better now.

I also ended up going off it I had a fluttering heart and other bad side effects, I personally think that drug should be banned. It causes stress not relieves it. Now im on paxil im just wondering will i gain weight from this drug?

Usually there are side effects, which should diminish with time. I found Prozac did not suit me at all, but it suits lots of other people. My side effects were so bad I had to stop the 10mg dose within a few weeks. We all react differently to drugs, what suits one person, may not suit another. You have not been on Prozac long, so you may need to give it time to get into your body. If you really think the side effects are too bad, then I suggest you go back to the doctor.

They're very different ssris. Prozac stays in the body much longer, making it easier to quit and generally has fewer side effects. Paxil is a very stong ssri that also strongly affects choline receptors, can be very hard to quit, and has a lot of side effects, but can be more effective for anxiety. I'd try the prozac first, in fact I'd try all the ssris first, before I'd do Paxil.

I should have stayed with Prozac, other then the enormous weight gain i had no sexual side effects or other problems with it. I was worried about my health with all that weight gain BUT the Wellbutrin does not work for me as an appetite suppressant or as an stimulant, so really i'm right there with this med where i have been with Prozac, except with more anxiety and very frequent panic attacks....

When I came off of it, my doc put me on a taper as I came off of it. I did notice some side effects like naseau and increased anxiety, however I kept an open line of communication with the doc. I asked if it would be okay to go on a slower taper as I came off of it. He agreed and the slower taper seemed to help with the side effects.
