provigil weight gain

Sorry that this isn't strictly a Thyroid question. I have a normal TSH level (2.5), and normal T4 and T3 test results. This started about 5 years ago. I gained 30 to 40 lbs in a matter of 3-4 months, without any changes in my eating, lifestyle, or anything else that could explain this. I got stretchmarks from the rapid weight gain. I was 20 yrs old at the time, (I wasn't pregnant.) I also had extreme fatigue, insomnia, body aches, constipation, and headaches.

I've been on both Provigil and Nuvigil. There is NO comparison. Nuvigil is hands down MUCH more effective to me than Provigil. Provigil always gave me a "rush" upper feeling. It felt like I was a little high. Provigil, on the other hand, is a slow and gradual release. I take it in the morning, and within an hour or so, I notice I can just concentrate better and am less tired. Its very gradual and lasts a lot longer than Provigil.

I don't know much about Provigil, but I know that Lyrica cause cause a lot of swelling and weight gain. I don't take either one because of inter-actions with other medicines, but I know Lyrica is a typical drug for fibro but a lot of people can't take it.

I went to the doctor over a year ago with complaints of weight gain, (40 lbs at that time), dry skin, and exhaustion. I was having a hard time functioning in general. As a nurse, I never really thought about hypothyroidism since my TSH was 0.89. However, since my FT4 was 0.62, she started me on synthroid. I eventually had the million dollar work-up with no clearcut answers. Although I felt better, I was by no means back to normal.

Actually I haven't had weight gain on steroids, though I've only had 2 rounds thus far. I have to say I haven't had relief of symptoms either, so I may not be opting for the IV stuff again. Steroids have produced the world's reddest face on me, and that's it. That goes away quickly each day. I'm thinking your weight gain is from fluid retention, and will remit pretty soon. Make yourself drink at least a quart of water more than usual to help flush out that stuff.

Has anyone tried ProVigil? My sleep specialist suggested that I try it for the deep tiredness that I experience, even after getting great help with sleep from my CPAP machine. By the way, my trip to Seattle went very well. Though it is indeed very hilly, the cooler weather and low humidity made it easier to get around than here is muggy Baltimore. The weather seems to have a huge impact on this disease.

I have been taking metformin for over ten years, synthroid, crestor, spirnalactone, & provigil. I am not a diabetic, but considered to have Metabolic X syndrome. I really want to loose some weight, but it doesn't seem to come off if I eat healthy and exercise or don't. My weight seems to stay the same until I try to diet. I'm faithful for about 6 to 8 weeks with no results, then I go back to my old habits and gain about 5 pounds. I'm almost afraid to diet.

I am new here and have been diagnosed with hyperthyoidism; however, I have yo-yo weight gain. Sometimes I can gain about 10 pounds in a month - what kind of treatments are available for this? My doctor thinks I have Graves, but everything I have read suggests weight LOSS not gain.

I still have not had any trouble with weight gain when it comes to the anti depressants I haveheard about. Very thankful for that!

I could not take Lyrica b/c of side effects. (hard to explain the effects) I take provigil and that really helps with energy. I did gain some weight with Lyrica while I was trying it.

The side effects look a lot worse than those listed for Provigil. I wonder how long the patent on Provigil lasts, and when there will be a generic form? Does anyone else have trouble getting medications that they need or that are really helpful in improving your quality of life? Ess and I discussed on another thread how both our insurances only allow you to get half a month's worth of Ambien. Are we only supposed to sleep every other day?

I didn't get up until 11 and I napped from 4pm to 8pm. I also noticed that I have no appetite. I have cotton mouth. I am very thirsty and nauseous. I did eat some cereal today. I tried to eat a little oatmeal tonight and only managed about two bites. Has anyone else had similar issues? Did anything help?

I don't have MS (so it appears), but I have quite a few similar symptoms, including dizziness and the related brain fog and fatigue. Back in 2000, neuro prescribed Provigil, saying "we used to use Ritalin for this" but that Provigil is now favored because of fewer side effects. Provigil was very helpful for both fatigue and cognition, although I didn't like the late-afternoon "letdown" effect I got with it. It was rather unpleasant.

My symptoms, extreme fatigue, dry eyes, dry skin, constipation, brittle nails, weight gain, carpel tunnel, muscle tendonitis and aches, constant headaches. my primary suggested i might have an issue with my pituitary gland. she started me on 50mg of Synthroid 35 days ago. i feel no change. i am having blood work done again today to see if there is any change in labs.

Look up weight gain according to BMI and it will give you a good idea on the amount of weight you should gain according to your body type.

We had heard that it was on the way to being approved. It's actually an SNRI (serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors) along the lines with Cymbalta, but hopefully it will be more affordable. It did have a good success rate in the studies and maybe it will be something else that can provide relief from pain. Thanks for the information dai3symae.

Well I'm 7 months that means I'm 27 weeks and I have only gain 1 pound my midwife said it was OK 4 me to not gain weight bcz I'm over weight so u girls tell me it seems like I won't have to do a lot of weight loss. How far are u nd how much you gain?

How much seroquel and Depakote are you on? That is alot of weight to gain in a month. You need to google and see what other side effects you are looking at. Good Luck and Let Us Know What Happens.

I still feel pressure in my temples and forhead even though I have stopped taking Provigil. Can you have withdraws from Provigil?

This is my first day on Provigil, taking 200 mg this morning. This is an attempt to replace Adderall 15 to 30 mg per day. Provigil walloped my blood pressure. It dropped by 10 points when I check 12 hours after taking the first dose. I've been lethargic most of today. I finally took an Adderall so I could function.

Is anyone familiar with the drug provigil or monafinil for enery and depression...? It is a drug for narcolepsy....wakes me up but not sure about use during tapering tabs...

I started taking provigil yesterday and wow I cant believe the energy I scrubbed the shower down washed the cabinets down went food shopping then took dog to dog park for 4 hours then home and dinner usually just one of these activities wipes me out . I am glad that I have energy but I feel jittery my legs feel like they are going hundred miles and hour and I am stuttering badly in the am I think I am trying to talk faster then I can get it out.

I am currently taking provigil for my fatigue. The pharmacy had to order it so I was out for a few days. During those days I have been headache free. It seems that my headache has come back since I started taking it again. It isn't as bad as a normal one but it is enough to be irritating. I am curious as to whether anyone else has had this issue and if so did it go away after a while. It has really helped the fatigue but I would hate to think that the daily headaches are back.
