provigil smart drug

Has anyone on here taken Provigil? my doctor gave me a sample pack and told me to try it for my chronic fatigue. I was on a prednisone pack and felt fantastic until it started to taper off, now its my 2nd day off it and i feel like ****, and im supper tired... I tried 100 mg of the provigil, and i have had a screaming headache all day. (had to take tynelnol). anyone else have this?

Me personalky, if I can get a name brand for the same amount that I pay for generic, I will. I actually think that this is smart msrketing on behalf if the drug companies. Unfortunately, there are not to many people out there that know to go to the drug manufactors website and print these cards. So, I hope this helps for yhe Provigil and any other name brand prescriptions that you may have. I am going through my own battle of getting this Provigil approved myself.

I am in week 42 of tx and my trial doc prescribed 100 mg of Provigil to help with my fatigue (he can't/won't prescribe procrit). My hgb was at 9.4 as of last Friday after being in the mid 10's for a while. I am sleeping "ok" at night with Ambien CR, but have been getting close to worthless (mentally and physically) as far as work goes the past few weeks. I'm wondering if this will really help or possibily aggravate my dizziness from stairs and mild exertion.

Is anyone familiar with the drug provigil or monafinil for enery and depression...? It is a drug for narcolepsy....wakes me up but not sure about use during tapering tabs...

It is the #1 rated drug for energy for MSers (an MS doctor said this at an MS dinner and I have read it in drug surveys, as well). Another benefit of Provigil is that it also has an antidepressant effect. I believe I have read that it has been used in severely depressed individuals and is probably a lot safer than those so-called antidepressants that often end up leading depressed individuals to suicide. Now I have a surprise for you people: Provigil has a new sibling called Nuvigel!!

Provigil is more expensive and I actually had more side effects with Provigil. Nuvigil is the 2nd generation of Provigil and the manufacturer has lowered the price to get everyone "switched" before the patent on Provigil expires in 2011. For me, the difference between Nuvigil and Provigil was amazing. Nuvigil gave me back my life. Provigil let me leave the house but I had trouble functioning. And since Provigil is "going away" it is tough to even get samples.

Are there any other meds for fatigue besides provigil? The reason I ask is because for the drug interactions for provigil says don't take if you're on beta blockers or amitriptline (sp). Which of course I'm on both. Thanks for any suggestions in advance. I see my pcp on Wednesday, and I want to be ahead of the game!

Thought I was ok until the amantadine worked its way out of my system and then I crashed. But new drug is giving me BP problems. Is anyone taking the drug with NO BP problems? How much can you take? I don't want to be left high and dry again with chronic fatigue and nothing to help.

I started taking provigil yesterday and wow I cant believe the energy I scrubbed the shower down washed the cabinets down went food shopping then took dog to dog park for 4 hours then home and dinner usually just one of these activities wipes me out . I am glad that I have energy but I feel jittery my legs feel like they are going hundred miles and hour and I am stuttering badly in the am I think I am trying to talk faster then I can get it out.

I had no negative ones from Provigil. My PCP's office called to see if I'd started the appeal process, and I told them that I thought it would be best coming from them, since they new how to word things, having dealt with insurance companies for years.

I had my neuro switch my Provigil rx from monthly to a 90 day supply so I could save money. It was costing me $50 a month, because my insurance has it as a tier 3 drug. Going to the 90 day supply lets me get the third month for $0 - it would have cost me $100 for 90 days instead of $150. I was very surprised and pleased when the new rx arrived in the mail - Provigil has now gone generic, and Modafinil (the generic name) was shipped instead of the name brand. The cost?

After all this time, three years at least, my insurance company is no longer approving me for Provigil. This drug is the one thing that I've taken that has made a huge impact on the quality of my life. Without it, I'm unable to think clearly and I'm too fatigued to get up out of bed or off the couch. I may have to retire on disability because there's no way I will be able to teach. The drug also helps with the ADD (diagnosed after the MS as an adult, LOL).

) I should also say that Quix has hailed Provigil as the drug which allows her to live her life with much better quality. She has said without it, she would have to be classified as a statue. Yes, she cracks me up, too. Personally, I have taken it after being diagnosed with sleep apnea, which is the reason it came on the market. I loved it.

Hi Josie, we've kicked around the drug supply source for provigil more than once ... unfortunately it is illegal in the US to purchase these prrescription drugs via the internet. I agree about the cost savings but have concerns about the safety of ordering a drug from a supplier that I don't know and no guarantee that the ingredients are what they are claimed to be.

I've been using Provigil for years, 600 mgs./day, for chronic fatigue related to myotonic dystrophy. My neurologist suggested I try Nuvigili and gave me a month's worth. What a difference!! I stayed awake with the Provigil but still felt tired and sluggish. With the Nuvigil I am alert, more upbeat, and more even throughout the day. Medicare won't cover it, so my doctor is working on a prior authorization. I can't bear the thought of going back to Provigil.

Is anyone taking Provigil? Has it helped you? What does it help? Do you have any side effects from it? I'm going to try it, after I get my results back from my next set of MRIs. Does it make the tremors worse? Thank you!

A decent GP would be the place to start ..... provigil is actually indicated for treatment of CFS .......... Its an expensive drug at 10.00 a pill prescription.....lots of insurance companies dont wish to cover it for that reason...... but it is being widely used now - - it will most likely be rescheduled before long because it has more of the shortcomings that straight amphetamines have than was thought during trials........

However, someone here pointed out that Nuvigil might just be a way the makers of Provigil have to keep Provigil users paying for Trade name drug a little longer (since Provigil will be going generic soon). However, you might consider just having your doctor order a few pills of Nuvigil to see if it could help you. Also, regarding the Provigil: Make sure its expiration date is a long time off. I have found that can make a difference - that it gets weaker with time.
