Avatar f tn First place the egg in water in a pot. The egg should rest on it's side. If at anly angle it is not fresh. If the egg points vertically it is stale, but still edible. If it floats, throw it away. Get bowl of ice-water sufficient to cover the eggs. Then get a pot with tap water and place the egg(s) in and turn on the heat. Have at least an inch of water above the egg(s). Turn on heat to high until boiling, then reduce flame.
Avatar f tn Meat is a great source of protein but there are a lot of other ways to get your protein in. If you don't like beef, chicken or turkey, what about fish? It's very good for you and high in protein. Milk, yogurt, cheese and just about any kind of dairy is a great source of protein too (just make sure you buy low-fat or fat-free varities) Eggs are excellent too. I don't eat whole eggs because of the high fat and cholesterol content, but I eat egg whites and egg beaters frequently.
Avatar f tn Instantly take the Synthyroid and a cup of instant coffee or tea (it does not matter) and about an hour later it starts. At that time I have breakfast which is always an omelete of egg beaters, deli ham and fat free cheese (not suppose to be having fiber or calcium for 4 hrs after taking the pill) Usually after lunch I feel better but am not really ever without the empy, gnawing feeling. I have started taking 15 units of Prevacid mid afternoon and again at bed time to see if that helps.

Avatar n tn Smoothies are excellent as you can throw in all sorts of things and maybe even some protein powder. I like egg beaters either full or just the whites just because they are kind of easy and I'm more apt to do that than mixing up the eggs myself. They make one that has onion, green and red pepper in it. Pretty tasty. for my sons, I bought this microwave contraption you put a broken egg in (as in take it out of the shell), add a bit of water and then you micro it for a few seconds.

Avatar n tn They even make fiber supplements as pills now, so it's easy to up your intake. As for breakfast... try a liquid egg product like Egg Beaters (most grocery stores have generic brands that are cheaper).. they have no cholesterol, no fat, but good protein. If you're willing, try some soy products, too, like meat-free "sausage" patties. I also eat some high-fiber cereal (like Bran Buds) with a little fat-free yogurt and fresh fruit. I found these websites helpful...
172023 tn?1334675884 Pour the egg beaters into the pan and let cook for a min. Top with the bacon and cheese bits. Scramble and put onto a plate. 483733 tn?1326802046 I like eggs in pretty much any fashion - hard or soft boiled, poached, fried, omelets, scrambled - well, you get the picture! LOL Eggs in any fashion not only make a delicious, high protein breakfast, but also a quick, easy and inexpensive dinner - when I was growing up we quite often would have "breakfast" for dinner. While they are high in cholesterol, I think so long as you're not sitting down to a six egg omelet every day, eggs are a very beneficial part of your diet.

Avatar n tn I agree with the posts on nutritionist, I am a vegetarian myself, the only meats I will touch is seafood, I think it is healthier because alot of the beef cattle and chickens, are given steroids to make them bigger to produce higher quantities of meat, and it is very unhealthy, many think it is leading to children growing larger in height and size, and steroids have been proven to be quite dangerous in past years.

Avatar n tn Brave woman mentioning "Egg-Beaters" in a thread "Rocker" is monitoring. LOL. But thanks, I may check them out for once-in-a-while. Rock, I have the same distate for Statins as you have. However, my family cardiac history, dietary response to fat, and lipid profile have put the writing clearly on the wall in big, block letters. GET YOUR CHOLESTEROL DOWN YONG MAN (ER, OLD MAN) OR YOU WILL HAVE A HEART ATTACK PRETTY SOON.
Avatar m tn I am going to have a hard time getting on a healthy diet and exercise routine if I can't eat anything until noon. I just can't find anything online that offers a solution? I read something about Egg Beaters instead of eggs, but those still have iron and calcium. Most fruits have iron, calcium AND fiber. I used to either eat eggs or drink a protein shake, but obviously those are out. Does anyone have any ideas for breakfast foods that have worked for them?
