I have been on propecia for 2 years and have had the same problems that some of you mentioned like ED, lower sex drive, decreased ejaculation, watery semen etc.. I consulted my doctor and he gave me Viagra 50 mg. I took it once but didn't see any effect. I do have erections and I masturbate almost every day. I'm concerned that these side effects might be permanent. Anyone has any idea if viagra or cialis will increase the sex drive in our case (propecia users)?
since I was 17 with little to no side effects besides no morning erections and watery semen.. turned 22 oct 2nd of 2016.. as the months went on I felt like my penis wasn't working like it should.. my erections seemed much weaker.. I stopped being hard during sex twice with my girlfriend.. stimulation couldn't even bring it back up.. it was a disaster.. there were just times I could feel literally during sex my penis getting less and less hard.. that scared me.
I attribute my erection problems to the Propecia tablet that I take daily. As you know, Propecia is 1 mg. of finasteride. Propecia has been shown to cause side effects such as erectile problems in a small minority of users. Unfortunately, I appear to be in that small minority. Once my erection problems surfaced, I began looking for a solution. I do not want to stop taking Propecia because it has done wonders for my hair.
After 5 days of use, it lowered sex drive and made my erectile dysfunction way worse. I just need to know if this is at all permanent. Has anyone else had experiences with this? I only took it for 5 days so im not as worried but I just dont know at this point. Any help is really appreciated.
I know there are thousands of people who take antidepressants, but many people take Propecia and some people claim to have sexual side effects after they stop. There a scientific journals that have recorded patients with various persistant sexual side effects that do not go away after they quit as well. Are doctors not aware of these rare occurances???
The treatment that you have been prescribed is correct. If you are having any side effects then get the antibiotics changed and even oral antibiotics can be added.

Saw Palmetto works like propecia but side effects are more severe than propecia. It blocks both 5-alpha reductase type I & II. so Testosterone does not convert to DHT, no DHT means no sexual function. Some people using SP also suffer from low total T and free T or in other words they are hypogonadal. The only solution is go on TRT for the life.
SP is very potent and dangerous herb.It should not be sold without clear warnings.
The numbness, pain and tingling is called neuropathy. This side effect can last for a relatively short time, or be permanent. It has been about a year since my last treatment with taxotere (carboplatin and about 3 mos. since I finished Herceptin.) We cut the treatments by two sessions due to the neuropathy. My face was going numb, plus my hands and feet. I still have some numbess and tingling, but it has gotten less over time and the numbness in my face is gone completely.
Do you think it wise bringing a baby/ child into that environment?
It's a hard call and one only you (?and your husband, partner, so) can make in consultation with your own doctor.
I knew someone in a similar situation and she tried to harm her fetus while pregnant and later her daughter attempted suicide (due to the environment the mother raised her in).
Are you in therapy to help address the anxiety?
Waringblender - I know you had said that there are no long-term side effects of this drug in terms of permanent damage but was just curious as this drug notes that it works for up to 4 hours however after having sex every day over the weekend, I'm still able to get my guy goin relatively easily even after 4 days. m on propecia...however, my doctor (being pretty cool), prescribed me 5mg Finasteride (i.e. Propecia). I split the pills in half, which is pretty close to the dosage for Propecia. The bottle lasts me two months, and costs me $5 because finasteride is covered on my insurance. I'm 28 years old, soooo....the insurance company DID need my doctor to verify the prescription. But like I said, he is cool :) See if your doc will hook you up the same!
) After a bit more of research on side effects I decided not to take finasteride so im looking into alternatives.
An alternative is Men's Rogaine 5% Minoxidil Foam, but i see minoxidil has some very small link with hepatites. Im not sure about the results of the below but it got me thinking.
