I took Propecia at age 26/27 and started having erection problems so I quit. About three years later I stopped getting nocturnal erections/morning erections. Now, at 36, I had my testosterone tested twice - one it was 235, the other time 434. I'm going to test a third time, but based on your story and my suspicions, I wonder if Propecia didn't do something permanent to our hormone levels and/or receptors.

I was diagnosed w/ PCOS in 2006 and also have endometriosis to boot. I would usually have a period 2-4 times a year when not on the pill let alone the ovulation part of it. I had a laparoscopy in Feb. of 2006 to remove endo and a cyst. My GYN wanted us to try one more natural cycle and it was a BFN so he sent us to our RE. I had my tubes flushed right away, was monitored by ultrasound for my O and had IUI done - got pregnant the first time. The only drug was progesterone supp.
Help. My wife accidentally took propecia (3 mgs over 2 days) thinking it was something else. We are planning on having kids soon. Can there be consequences to a future pregnancy from this mistake? How long will the propecia stay in her body?
I've been taking L'Arginine and L'Orthinine to enhance muscles growth after working out in the gym.
I'm also taking 1mg of Propecia due to a hair loss problem. Are there any side effects taking both at the same time? Is L'Arginine hindering the benefits of Propecia (like make me loose hair again)?

m on propecia...however, my doctor (being pretty cool), prescribed me 5mg Finasteride (i.e. Propecia). I split the pills in half, which is pretty close to the dosage for Propecia. The bottle lasts me two months, and costs me $5 because finasteride is covered on my insurance. I'm 28 years old, soooo....the insurance company DID need my doctor to verify the prescription. But like I said, he is cool :) See if your doc will hook you up the same!
I have been taking Propecia since 2.5 years at variable doses(0.25 first 6months, 0.5 mg for one year and 1 mg for 1 year till today), In october 2016 my derm put me on accutane 10 mg and minoxiline(100mg) for treating my mild acne, I had been drinking heavily for 5 days before starting my accutane course, 10 days into the course, I started to have Gyno(Unilateral, right breast with a movable tender lump), I dropped accutane and minoxiline and also propecia after 23 days.
This drug is still available as a generic, it looks like the price of the drug has increased due to higher cost for Walgreens to purchase it. I'm afraid the other drugs available for BPH will probably be as or more expensive than Doxazosin, but I would check with your local Walgreens pharmacist for more price options.
I attribute my erection problems to the Propecia tablet that I take daily. As you know, Propecia is 1 mg. of finasteride. Propecia has been shown to cause side effects such as erectile problems in a small minority of users. Unfortunately, I appear to be in that small minority. Once my erection problems surfaced, I began looking for a solution. I do not want to stop taking Propecia because it has done wonders for my hair.
About three months ago I started taking propecia because I thought my hair was falling out too young. I experienced several side effects from the drug including total loss of sex drive, difficulty maintaining erections, loss of spontaneous erections/morning erections. I stopped taking propecia within 3 weeks due to an inability to deal with these side effects. Things seemed to be slowly getting slightly better as the weeks and months progressed however now some new issues have been arising.

you can buy an over the counter test for your husband at like walgreens that messures the sperm count. and if that is fine, go to your doctor and have him a/i you on your day of ovulation. it doesn`t cost that much. and you don`t need to have the sperm washed first but it wouldn`t hurt it should only cost around 500.
5mg every other day for my hair. Could this be the cause? He insisted that it was NOT the Finasteride (propecia). In addition, I asked if it could be low testosterone and he claimed that it was not the issue in this case. I'm an avid bodybuilder whom exercises 5-6 days a week.
