My mom was recently diagnosed with Hep C associated cirrhosis. She has had some complications, including esophageal varices and ascites. She remains fairly well compensated and does not exhibit symptoms such as fatigue or confusion.
During an endoscopy her doctor also noticed an ulcer and tested her for H pylori (which was positive). He's prescribed Prevpac to kill the bacteria and heal the ulcer.
I took one dose of clarithromycin in a PrevPac yesterday (first day) and I started having chest pains last evening, anxiety (suicidal thoughts), weakness, couldn't think, etc..I'm stopping immediately. Just continuing with the Amoxicillin.
Pylori is 1000mg (1g) of Amoxicillin combined with 500mg of clarithromycin and PPI in your case Lansoprazole 30 mg - 2 times a day.
Are you allergic to any drugs? For examples penicillins? then maybe your doctor meant to write metronidazole 500mg as there is another type of treatment for penicillin allergic patients which includes metronidazole 500mg + clarithromycin 500mg + PPI.
prescribed the triple therapy that consist of Lansoprazole, Clarithromycin, and Amoxicillin. The problem is that she told me to take only one pill of of Amoxicillin (500 mg) every 12 hours but its supposed to be two pills (1g) every 12 hours, and I already finished the cycle. Now I am very concerned because I know that this bacteria becomes resistant to antibiotics. What should I do?, how long should I wait before I take another H. Pylori test?
I know of no reports that link the development of asthma with any of the drugs in the preparation, Prevpac. In fact Clarithromycin has proven to be beneficial in the treatment of certain types of asthma.
My first thought is to question the diagnosis of asthma, with onset at age 62.

I took 1500mg of Clarithromycin ER, and 1875mg of Amoxicillin that night. The following morning took another 1gm of the Niacin ER & 1375mg of Amoxicillin.
So this is day nine on the prilosec and day seven on the antibiotics (Ammoxicillin and clarithromycin)for the H pylori. My symptoms are still there SOMETIMES after eating. For the most part it has been a bland diet, except for the exception of a hamburger yesterday which caused extreme discomfort. Could this be a side effect of the medicine or my stomach trying to heal still? Please let me know if I should tough it out with the antibiotics or could this be something else?
The next week I had a sore throat (unrelated) and went to my doctor and was given a prescription for amoxicillin. I am still feeling the symptoms in my sinuses so I went to the Dr last week and was prescribed Amoxicillin. About 20 mins after taking it I had this strange sensation on my lip...like a tingling/itching feeling and became itchy all over. I called the Dr and she prescribed Clarithromycin. I didn't want to take it right away, just in case I had a similar reaction. A few days later I took one pill and noticed that I was itching again...so I stopped taking that as well.

All three medacation taken twice a day for a 7 day course.I am now into the 5 th day of taking them.There seems to be no side effects, the problems of bloating,discomfort (painfull at times) that comes and goes througout the day,has not eased at all.
If these combanation of tablets were going to work,would my symptons have eased by now ?.

Husband had gastroscopy on 23/10/13. Biopsy taken but not got results yet. Gastroscopy showed h pylori gastritis and a presence of excess bile in the stomach. Triple therapy antibiotics prescribed (lansoprazole, amoxi and clarithromycin), he says he feels a lot better, but i'm worried sick.
When the GI series results were back I was put on the triple therapy (Clarithromycin, Amoxicillan and 30mg Lansoprazole AKA Prevacid) twice a day for 14 days. After a few days into the triple therapy I wasn't feeling too bad anymore, just the hunger feeling after eating. When the triple therapy was over I went back to Ranitadine which led to burning again, so the doctor put me on 30mg of Lansoprazole since it worked in the triple therapy why not keep going.
I was disgnosed with h pylori after getting an endoscopy done. I’ve been taking meds for it’s. It’s a lot of medication. It’s clarithromycin 500, amoxicillin 500 mg, Lansaprozal 30 mg twice a day for about 10 days. I noticed a huge difference. People are not reacting to me as much. It hasn’t gone away completely but it’s been reduced to about 50% and I just started taking it 2 days ago.
I have found that biaxin is chemically different than azithromycin but biologically same at killing bacteria as azithromycin. On some post you say that azithromycin or clarithromycin(biaxin) would cure all the bacterial stds then in others you state that there could be some problems.
