Avatar n tn When I lick my lips, my skin tastes bitter. I take Prevacid, and recently tripled my dosage from 20 microgm of Synthroid, to 75 microgm-any suggestions? I also tasted the skin on my hands/arm, and noticed the skin there was also bitter-tasting.
Avatar m tn I am 40 hrs old with perfect lipid profile and little elevated blood sugar (A1C 6.3). The lab tests indicate below than normal Vitamin D and Vitamin B12 (probably due to prolong usage of Prevacid/PPI tablets of 2-3 yrs). Would appreciate your inputs and thanks for your time.
1729496 tn?1310004013 Take a diet rich in Vit B12 which should include meat and animal products, cheese, such as beef, liver, salmon, cod, and eggs. Take B12 supplements and breakfast cereals fortified with vitamin B12. Finding the cause is important. Since I cannot examine you and know other related conditions you may be having, nor is a detailed history possible on net, I have listed the various possibilities that should be looked into. Avatar f tn That is interesting because I was taking Prevacid and also noticed an increase in PAC's. Its still to early for me to tell if that was the culprit because my Palps have a mind of their own and can last as long as a week at times. For now though I have stopped the Prevacid to see if that helps. I also take fish oil which I've heard can help palps but I've also read that they can worsen them, who knows? Keep us posted!
Avatar n tn A few weeks ago I was getting a burning pain on my legs and thighs and even my feet, which was worse at night. I felt electric shocks and pins and needles. It felt as if I was wearing wool. I began getting these symptoms everywhere, my hands, arms, back, chest, throat, tongue, lips, face. I had nerve tics everywhere as well. So a friend suggested vitamin b-12 which really helped.
Avatar f tn Is it common for those with ms to have abnormally low levels of vitamin b12? I read that a vitamin b12 deficiency could mimic symptoms of ms but that doesn't explain remissions. Any information would be helpful. Thanks!
Avatar f tn Low/deficient vitamin B12 is usually due to conditions that cause malabsorption unless you are a vegan/vegetarian. Vitamin B12 sources include fish and shellfish, meat (especially liver), poultry, eggs, milk, and milk products. Excerpt from "Skin rashes from vitamin B12" by Ed Donner: "Side effects of B12 supplements are rare, according to Southern Care Healthcare Group, and generally occur with the injections and not with oral supplements.
Avatar f tn Hello. I have low thyroid, vitamin d deficiency and low vitamin b12. I was wondering if anyone can help me with experience with vitamin b12. Can you suggest what kind, also if you have felt better after starting it. Thank you so much for your input. Vitamin D 25.
98474 tn?1240105274 Just wanted to say Hi to all and let you know that after 2 months on vitamin b12, the overwhelming weakness in my legs is GONE after 6 years! The heat is not even making me feel weak! I am amazed and hopeful that this is indeed the main answer for my ms symptoms. I guess time will tell. If this is the result of my Mayo Clinic visit(they told me the b12 was not the total answer to my prob even tho they couldn't tell me what it was) then it was way worth it.
Avatar n tn I take vitamin B12 Complex once a day and there are no side effects to this dietary supplement. This is actually a great source and mineral for the reduction of anxiety disorders. Of course, like any oral med/mineral, it's possible to overdose...but you'd have to take a hell of a lot to get to this point! To me, u cannot get enough of Vitamin B....
Avatar f tn I started getting injections of B12 a two months ago. And the effects have been amazing with respect to energy and alertness and a bit with the pain! I tried the daily dose of liquid for about a month and found no difference. I hate having to go to the office for the shot, bu it is really worth it. I wish my doctor had thought to check my B12 levels earlier.
Avatar n tn Eat a diet high in vitamin B12 and see if this improves your serum levels. The best sources of vitamin B12 include eggs, milk, cheese, milk products, meat, fish, shellfish and poultry. Take probiotics to help increase good bacteria in the gut and make sure you have adequate stomach acid. If low, then supplement with betaine HCI with pepsin; supplements found at health food stores. Try the baking soda (sodium bicarbonate, not baking powder) test...

188508 tn?1210548106 Hi I got my b12 tested and the results was 177 & the normal range is 139 to 651. My doctor says its ok. I have all the symptoms of b12 deficency. Is it possible that being on the low range I can still have symptoms. Did anyone experience this.
Avatar f tn I agree with Laura. Get the B12 tested first. It only seems like it would help if you are low on B12. It helped me but my levels were too low.
Avatar f tn Just want to say.. I see medhelp are advertising vitamin b12 patches. I took vitamin b12 injections twice a week and it got me out of a wheelchair, now take it when needed. not sure about the patches how they work but it worth a try.

335728 tn?1331414412 I am on Spireva, Symbicort, Singulair and Ventolin for my COPD and Asthma and Prevacid and Lipitor for GERD and high cholesterol. I also take Amitriptyline for fatigue related to MS. Has anyone else had trouble with protein or calcium deficiency that has been proven related to any meds? I can't say that I have a perfect diet and as I told my hubby that perhaps if I started drinking again it would help with the calcium deficiency...
547002 tn?1219797376 In July i was having some swallowing problems or thought i was and they did an EGD and found nothing but a VERY tiny hiatal hernia. My stomach lining was nice and pink. I had been taking prevacid for two weeks prior to the EGD due to the trouble swallowing NOW i want to stop taking the prevacid and every time i try i get really sick. I get weak, nauseaus and for a day or two i literally go to the bathroom constantly and have loose yellow stools with stomach cramps.
Avatar f tn Higher dosages of up to 15,000 mcg per day are sometimes required to bring levels back up to an optimal level and to restore energy, mental function and mood balance. B12 has no known drug interactions and has never shown any adverse or toxic effects in humans, even when given in very large doses. Solgar, Sublingual Methylcobalamin is a good product. Solgar makes a good vitamin D3. I suggest trying the B12 and D and see if they help!
