Avatar f tn 40 is a little young to start Menopause, but not unheard of, it can happen. I started @ 49, for 1 year, I would bleed for 7 weeks, then it stop, started, did that for a year. I have not had a period for 2 yrs now. I started gaining weight a little weight in my mid section, I also got very depressed. I'm not a depressed type, always happy, not moody. I had to go on Prempro, it took 2 weeks, I was better.
Avatar f tn t state your age but since you have been on Prempro you must be post-menopausal and different drugs are usually recommended for post-menopausal women. All these drugs have side effects BUT not all side effects are experienced by everyone. I congratulate you for following thru with this .. it is important.
Avatar f tn The next day, September 18, I abruptly stopped the Prempro and let my doctor know I felt I had been on the Prempro long enough and also due to the breast cysts. So for me it's only been a little over a month since I've stopped the Prempro. I was told I don't need to return for a year. That is amazing your screening showed no cysts after six months. this gives me hope.

Avatar m tn Well, it seems like there is no other cause than genes to this (probably), but since I really dont like being this underweight, are there any drugs that could help me gain weight (in other words eat more/ slow metabolism). Like some steroids or something? Again, I have tried the "eat more" thing, but it doesnt seem to work very well. At first I do gain weight, but I get pretty bad diarrhea ETC. from eating too much.
Avatar f tn m doing well but am gaining weight - I read that sotalol, prescribed by the cardiologist, causes weight gain. If so, what can I take in its place? The cardiologist tells me to "just compensate for it". I've cut my calories intake drastically, but no luck! This discussion is related to Atrial Fibrillation or Tachycardia.
Avatar f tn My question - are there any other alternative drugs or treatments, other than estrogen, to help with the side effects of stopping the Prempro. Thank you for taking my question and for any help.
Avatar n tn I am age 66. At age 50 my GYN put me on Prempro. I had no symptoms of menopause. He said that it will happen and I can prevent the discomfort of it by starting estrogen therapy. He was right, I have never had any of the things people talk about. What I am wondering, would I maybe not even had the symptoms anyway? I have been on it for 16 years now. My GYN has now prescribed a low dose, but how do I know if I even need it? I am basically healthy.
Avatar f tn m taking some drugs during a fertility treatment. So, if u r taking some drugs, then they may make u gain weight, otherwise gaining weight before u find out u r preggo could be for some other reason. Good luck.
Avatar n tn I'm 55 years of age and menopausal. Last week I had an vagibal ultrasound showing endometrial thickness of 18 mm. My ovaries were normal. Just 7 months ago I had a vaginal ultrasound and it was normal with my endometrium 2.9mm. I was on birth control pills at that time and have been taking them for over 10 years. I have no vaginal bleeding or discomfort. I started Prempro last month for a month, but stopped due to symptoms of bloatness and weight gain.
Avatar f tn Three days ago I went to a new doctor to get the hormones adjusted and she said she does not prescribe bioidenticals and gave me a prescription for Prempro. I do not want to take this and I told her so. She said she does not believe bioidenticals are any safer than Prempro and if I needed to have an adjustment in my Rx due to break through symptoms of hot flashes and severe brain fog along with zero energy then I needed to try something different than what I had been doing.
Avatar f tn Recently the doctor changed my Prempro dosage from .45/1.5 mg per day to double that amount. Do you think the change in Prempro could change my thyroid levels? Should I request new thyroid blood tests or wait for my annual testing which comes up in 6 months?
Avatar n tn It could be the prempro. Ask your doctor about going off of it for a few month and see if that helps. I heard that estrogen can cause congestion along with other medications. I too have non allergic rhinitis but mine is considered Vasomotor rhinitis.k I had this for 6 yrs. but I do not take any medication, just nasal steroid sprays and nasal rinses and it does not do anything. I even had sinus surgery - total ethmoidectomy, opening the ostia of the maxillary sinuses and partial turbinectomy.
Avatar m tn The heart and cholesterol drugs don't have, in my opinion, a side effect of weight gain. I don't know about the anxiety medications, but rather think if they make you easily tired, you aren't probably exercising as much. Also, when you quit smoking, most people tend to gain weight. I'd suggest trying to exercise an hour a day and see if that hellps.
Avatar n tn I don't know about Femara but I have gained weight on Tamoxifen. I get to stop taking it next month and I can't wait to see if I lose some of this weight.
Avatar n tn Hoodia is an appetite suppressant that has not been very well studied. In fact, its efficacy is often questioned. I am not aware of any side-effects of this supplement. Certainly, if you think that there is a temporal relationship between your starting the hoodia and poor blood pressure control you should you could probably assume that the two are somehow related.
415867 tn?1323365503 I have been lucky with the lack of weight gain from the medications. My weight gain was due to my own eating habits and lack of working out. Its easy to fix though, can you kick up your cardio and slim down the calorie intake for a bit and see if that helps?
Avatar f tn Not necessarily. One of the problems with Neurontin is that it can stop working, so you'll probably need higher and higher doses. It also interferes with magnesium absorption and vice versa, so make sure you get your magnesium at a different time of day then when you take your Neurontin.
Avatar f tn Did you ever try combining wellbutrin with the Celexa? Sometimes that's done to help with this. But we all react to drugs differently, so it's possible there's a drug out there that won't have this effect. If you want to do this without drugs, you'll need help from a professional. You can try a homeopathic physician or a naturopath, and start by reading a book called Natural Highs by Hyla Cass, a psychiatrist who uses natural medicine in her work.
Avatar n tn s odd for it to cause weight gain. But these drugs are all odd and affect people differently. Most of the drugs that cause weight gain do it by slowing metabolism and interfering with the serotonin in our digestive system, and also by giving us thoughts and urges we wouldn't naturally have. Remeron is the most notorious for causing people in general to want to eat, but all ssris are known for this as well. Drugs are just weird.
Avatar n tn 10 days of vics, i think I was bloated before and its coming off, so yea I think you can gain weight on the pills. I took ativan at first and it helped come down off the real high anxiety moments, but I feel good now, and you will too. Just stay posting, it has helped me so much. Good luck, start drinking tons of water, it helps.
