I am not certain that I want to continue with this course of treatment. My question is, how dangerous is prempro when I have a family history of ovarian cancer? My mother was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in her mid 60's and had surgery along with chemo and radiation - she is now cancer free. Should this be a major concern for me if I continue to take the Prempro? Also, are ovarian cysts related to ovarian cancer?
Have been taking Prempro for 14 yrs. Hot flashes and osteopenia (pre-osteoporosis). Awaiting biopsy results for microcalcifications around or in ducts. Can prempro increase risk of BC, in particular, DCIS?
The next day, September 18, I abruptly stopped the Prempro and let my doctor know I felt I had been on the Prempro long enough and also due to the breast cysts. So for me it's only been a little over a month since I've stopped the Prempro. I was told I don't need to return for a year.

I am age 66. At age 50 my GYN put me on Prempro. I had no symptoms of menopause. He said that it will happen and I can prevent the discomfort of it by starting estrogen therapy. He was right, I have never had any of the things people talk about. What I am wondering, would I maybe not even had the symptoms anyway? I have been on it for 16 years now. My GYN has now prescribed a low dose, but how do I know if I even need it? I am basically healthy.
It could be the prempro. Ask your doctor about going off of it for a few month and see if that helps. I heard that estrogen can cause congestion along with other medications. I too have non allergic rhinitis but mine is considered Vasomotor rhinitis.k I had this for 6 yrs. but I do not take any medication, just nasal steroid sprays and nasal rinses and it does not do anything. I even had sinus surgery - total ethmoidectomy, opening the ostia of the maxillary sinuses and partial turbinectomy.
Recently the doctor changed my Prempro dosage from .45/1.5 mg per day to double that amount. Do you think the change in Prempro could change my thyroid levels?
Should I request new thyroid blood tests or wait for my annual testing which comes up in 6 months?
I am 54 yrs. of age and have been period free for 8 yrs. Within the last year and a half I have been seeking treatment for horrible burning inside and out of the vaginal area. My doctor has done many tests and has said that I have vaginal atrophy (sp) and told me to use replens. She also recommended Prempro as I still have a uterus. I no longer have health insurance and can't afford the prempro and the replens DOESN"T work.

have one next month none that went on until may had a 7day period then in june it hit I started what was a 23 day period very heavy at times stoped for 5 days then started again. went back to my ob-gyn who told me it was menopause. hormone imbalance put me on prempro I am still bleeding not as heavy been taking it for almost a month he told me it could take up to 3 months to even out in the mean time I think im going crazy cry one minute ok the next along with other issues.
The latest is the inability to have an orgasm. That made me go see my doctor who prescribed Prempro. My maternal grandmother died with breast cancer. I have a history of seizure disorder and on Dilantin. After 2 days of taking Prempro I decided not for me. I think I need Progesterone and would like to know if others use the cream and what brand. Oncologist opinion that since I am 62, and have been on Prempro for 11 yrs that HRT may have contributed to LCIS, because although LCIS is found in women my age, it is usually found in younger women. Just finished weaninf off the Prempro. Having sweats and flashes, but not as bad as I thought it would be. I am supposed to start Raloxifene. This may cause hot flashes. If severe enough, dr will rx Effexor to treat flashes.
m not a depressed type, always happy, not moody. I had to go on Prempro, it took 2 weeks, I was better. I am having trouble with words, simple words, I forget how to spell them, or even say them. I am really frustrated with that. But I'm going to get a Natural one, Hormones and then ween myself of the prempro. That can cause Cancer . Hope that answer your ?
I just started prempro 4 nights ago, and my hot flashes (and subsequent clod flashed) and night seats have gotten worse, not better.
I'm only (almost) 46 and was taking DHEA and Pregnenolone....and they worked well up until a couple of months ago. I up'd the dosage, and it still won't work for me anymore. I really REALLY didn't/don't want to take synthetics, but it all just became too much...nauseous too....want to cry all the time.

I thought the jury was out once again on whether Prempro (HRT) actually does increase the risk of breast cancer beause the study is believed by some to be flawed. The study was composed of mostly older women, who are at a higher risk. Also, I thought over the counter natural hormone remedies are not regulated by the FDA, thus they dont know if linked to breast cancer. This information might become outdated as I am writing this.
I have family history of thyroid problems. Everybody has hypo except my sister who is hyper and has graves disease.
My childrens Dr wanted to test to my daughter last year, she was fine. The following week she ended up in the hospital and her test was high. She had it repeated and I just got it faxed to me today
results are
T3- 3.0
t4- 1.33
TSH- 1.61
Im semi familiar with these but then they ran a test Thyroglobulin it is ABnormal but only has reference range of <1:10 and results 1.2500 ?
I am receiving conflicting information regarding treatment for hrt. I have a uterus in tact I was prescribed combined hrt progesterone and estrogen estarlis patches. Then I went to another gyno who said that recent studies have proved that estrogen only with uterus in tact is safer that in fact it's the progesterone that is toxic.
Is anyone receiving the same advice?
Been on prempro for 2 weeks. Now having a period and feel anxious. Want to stop? Would rather have got flashes. My Dr says wait a couple of months. What do you think?
Doc prescribed a VERY LOW DOSE of Prempro to start me on due to symptoms. Anyone have luck or adverse effects on this??? I need something. NO FAMILY HISTORY OF CANCERS (FEMALE OR OTHER), no heart disease, etc....
Please try to address these for me. Nobody can seem to help me with the lightheadedness and I feel like I'm high all the time which honestly isn't fun to be high constantly (LOL).

I was on birth control pills at that time and have been taking them for over 10 years. I have no vaginal bleeding or discomfort. I started Prempro last month for a month, but stopped due to symptoms of bloatness and weight gain. I am scheduled for a D&C next week, but I am very apprehensive and concerned if this is cancer. In such a short time, how can I have developed this endometrial thickness? Could it be a fibroid or polyps?
I have burning and itching in vaginal area and horrible dry skin that also itches. I have been told to go on Prempro by my Dr. Does it help? I still have a uterus and I am afraid of HRT after all the hype i have heard. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated that worked for all of you that have suffered with this! Thank you!!!
Ive heard about HRT being made from the urine of female horses and how it is done, which I find crueeel ;( but guess my questions is what is the manmade version? Im on Prempro but dont know where it came from horse or manmade???
