Avatar n tn So you are still taking Prempro at 69. That's great! I'm 63 years old. I've been taking Prempro since I was 45; I just stop taking it a week and a half ago. In 2014, I had a full hysterotomy but I continue to take it for some of the reasons you mention. My gynecologists said that it was ok to continue. A week and a half ago, my nurse practitioner took me off Prempro and said I didn't need it anymore.
Avatar f tn Hi, I am a 62 year old woman, and after almost 12 years on Prempro, I decided it was time to stop taking it. One reason was some benign cysts diagnosed on my annual mammogram and ultrasound. I stopped taking the Prempro without doing a taper. After a few weeks I started experiencing hot flashes and insomnia. After calling my doctor, she recomended going back on the Prempro and doing a very gradual taper which would take 42 weeks. This is the only treatment she will recommend for me.
Avatar f tn Have been taking Prempro for 14 yrs. Hot flashes and osteopenia (pre-osteoporosis). Awaiting biopsy results for microcalcifications around or in ducts. Can prempro increase risk of BC, in particular, DCIS?
Avatar f tn I think that the best one to answer your question about stopping HRT, gradually or abruptly would be your family doctor.Since you are taking Boniva and calcium +vitamin D,(which I am also taking) your bones are well protected and I would definitively stop taking Prempo. As we age,you know that we are more prone to get breast cancer,so it's important that we avoid the estrogen that can cause it.
Avatar f tn Been on prempro for 2 weeks. Now having a period and feel anxious. Want to stop? Would rather have got flashes. My Dr says wait a couple of months. What do you think?
Avatar f tn And a course of progestin seems to be more commonly prescribed to stop prolonged and/or heavy bleeding.

Avatar f tn Oncologist opinion that since I am 62, and have been on Prempro for 11 yrs that HRT may have contributed to LCIS, because although LCIS is found in women my age, it is usually found in younger women. Just finished weaninf off the Prempro. Having sweats and flashes, but not as bad as I thought it would be. I am supposed to start Raloxifene. This may cause hot flashes. If severe enough, dr will rx Effexor to treat flashes.
Avatar f tn Three days ago I went to a new doctor to get the hormones adjusted and she said she does not prescribe bioidenticals and gave me a prescription for Prempro. I do not want to take this and I told her so. She said she does not believe bioidenticals are any safer than Prempro and if I needed to have an adjustment in my Rx due to break through symptoms of hot flashes and severe brain fog along with zero energy then I needed to try something different than what I had been doing.
Avatar f tn Recently the doctor changed my Prempro dosage from .45/1.5 mg per day to double that amount. Do you think the change in Prempro could change my thyroid levels? Should I request new thyroid blood tests or wait for my annual testing which comes up in 6 months?
Avatar f tn I started @ 49, for 1 year, I would bleed for 7 weeks, then it stop, started, did that for a year. I have not had a period for 2 yrs now. I started gaining weight a little weight in my mid section, I also got very depressed. I'm not a depressed type, always happy, not moody. I had to go on Prempro, it took 2 weeks, I was better. I am having trouble with words, simple words, I forget how to spell them, or even say them. I am really frustrated with that.
Avatar n tn The latest is the inability to have an orgasm. That made me go see my doctor who prescribed Prempro. My maternal grandmother died with breast cancer. I have a history of seizure disorder and on Dilantin. After 2 days of taking Prempro I decided not for me. I think I need Progesterone and would like to know if others use the cream and what brand. Or any advice appreciated. Thank- you.
Avatar f tn I just started prempro 4 nights ago, and my hot flashes (and subsequent clod flashed) and night seats have gotten worse, not better. I'm only (almost) 46 and was taking DHEA and Pregnenolone....and they worked well up until a couple of months ago. I up'd the dosage, and it still won't work for me anymore. I really REALLY didn't/don't want to take synthetics, but it all just became too much...nauseous too....want to cry all the time.
Avatar n tn I am a Mitral Valve Repair,Cleveland Clinic former patient. Will Hoodia interact with my taking Toporal, zoloft and prempro?
Avatar f tn I am 54 yrs. of age and have been period free for 8 yrs. Within the last year and a half I have been seeking treatment for horrible burning inside and out of the vaginal area. My doctor has done many tests and has said that I have vaginal atrophy (sp) and told me to use replens. She also recommended Prempro as I still have a uterus. I no longer have health insurance and can't afford the prempro and the replens DOESN"T work.
Avatar n tn It could be the prempro. Ask your doctor about going off of it for a few month and see if that helps. I heard that estrogen can cause congestion along with other medications. I too have non allergic rhinitis but mine is considered Vasomotor rhinitis.k I had this for 6 yrs. but I do not take any medication, just nasal steroid sprays and nasal rinses and it does not do anything. I even had sinus surgery - total ethmoidectomy, opening the ostia of the maxillary sinuses and partial turbinectomy.
237053 tn?1258828426 I heartily requested I be able to go on Prempro to my GYN. He had me do the standard hormone therapy first, then allowed the Prempro. I was on it for over ten years and I felt it was very positive for my MS not to have periods! Then came the big Prempro crash and controversy. I stayed on it anyway for several more years without insidence then the pedulum swung back and some people have resumed its use again.
Avatar n tn I take wellbutrin, prempro and maxide. Will the synthroid be okay to take with these and how long until I feel like myself again. I had the surgery a week ago...
Avatar n tn I thought the jury was out once again on whether Prempro (HRT) actually does increase the risk of breast cancer beause the study is believed by some to be flawed. The study was composed of mostly older women, who are at a higher risk. Also, I thought over the counter natural hormone remedies are not regulated by the FDA, thus they dont know if linked to breast cancer. This information might become outdated as I am writing this.
Avatar n tn Just 7 months ago I had a vaginal ultrasound and it was normal with my endometrium 2.9mm. I was on birth control pills at that time and have been taking them for over 10 years. I have no vaginal bleeding or discomfort. I started Prempro last month for a month, but stopped due to symptoms of bloatness and weight gain. I am scheduled for a D&C next week, but I am very apprehensive and concerned if this is cancer. In such a short time, how can I have developed this endometrial thickness?
Avatar n tn My doctor switched me over to Actos, which I took for a number of years. Recently, I stopped taking it because of worry about warnings of bladder cancer. Instead, I am taking Gymnema Silvestre and have found it controls my blood sugar very well.
1303999 tn?1279581926 Anyway called doctor regarding an increase due to leg and foot pain. She told me to stop taking my levo and come in. I am not going to stop taking it. I finally feel human again and not on the brink of death. I have Hashimoto's and a Goiter why would I stop taking medicine? The pain in my legs and feet are when I stand up it takes a few for me to be able to walk without pain. Maybe this symptom is not hypo?
Avatar f tn I think I need an added progesterone, but I have been told PREMPRO has some hard side affects. Do any of you have suggestions? I noticed someone was on Climera and another was on the Vivelle w/ Prometrium. What dose of prometrium do you take? While I still feel better than I did before my hyst. (pain wise anyway) there has to be some way to control these hot flashes!
