I am also diabetic @ bood sugars are higher than usual is this a side effect of prednisone,have 3 more days on prednisone should I stop?

My husband has been on and off high doses of Prednisone for the last year, and side effects are devastating, including the thinning of his skin---and lesions caused by cuts and scratches that he isn't even aware have happened, will his skin (on his arms mostly) return to normal at some point? will all of the bloating in his face and belly disappear at some point? All opinions accepted.....doctors refuse to admit his skin damage is due to Prednisone, but I have no doubt WHATSOEVER.

Those sound like normal side effects of prednisone. Nasty drug but can save a dog's life. My golden has been taking 50mg daily for 2 months and the side effects are horrible.

I understand your scared. I've had to deal with 14 day runs of prednisone for a little over 3 years now & it *****. I experience these side effects even when I'm not on it because I've had to use it for so long. I started out with flu symptoms & we just can't get rid of it; I guess I'm just unlucky. I do see that the longer I'm off the prednisone the better I get so there is hope that you will not have to deal with the side effects much longer.

Hi. I have autoimmune pancreatitis (AIP) for which I am now on Imuran (azathioprine) after unsuccessfully eradicating it with several tries on prednisone. Although Imuran is often used to treat AIH, it's only a last resort with AIP as there is no data as yet proving it effective with AIP. I have however on this site heard from other AIP patients who have done well on Imuran and my gastroenterologist agreed that under the circumstances it was worth a try.

I've noticed that after 3 months of daily prednisone that I have developed hair on my upper lip and jaw line. Has anyone else experienced side effects like this? I don't see how it will go away on it's own. How do you treat unwanted facial hair? This is quite upsetting to me. Thanks!

For me, the fact that I still grew abscesses while on the prednisone and methotrexate, I decided to get a double mastectomy. I had it on Jan 19 and am still recovering, it was a hard surgery for me. Today I feel very good though. I feel hopeful for my future...a little scared to go under general anesthesia twice more this year for reconstruction, but every day is a step towards normalcy! Until you get a definitive diagnosis, the odds are in your favor that it is the prednisone since the latuda only has it as a rare side effect. How much longer are you going to be on prednisone?

re confused and fearful. Have you looked up the side effects of progesterone? I was on that years ago and couldn't tolerate it, but for the life of me I can't remember what happpened. Like you, I too have been on loads of meds. In your place I would ask as much as you can during your biopsy, and would also bombard your PCP with questions. He or she should be guiding you through all of this. The stress factor makes things incredibly worse.

Hi again. Do you mean that you fear side effects from this dose of Prednisone that you didn't get from much larger doses of the IV? Could you say why this is? Actually, IVSM is intravenous methylprednisolone, and it's considerably stronger than just Prednisone, even at the same dosage (as I learned a few weeks ago when we had quite a discussion here about this). So you've had much more of this than you'd thought.

Hi, all: Been diagnosed with SSHL (sudden sensory hearing loss) and tinnitus. I understand that the etiologies are vastly unknown but largely either viral or from ear/middle ear trauma or exposure. I've been put on antiviral Acyclovir. No problem- understand that. But the Prednisone, which of course I am taking and understand that if I don't the hearing loss on the right ear could either worsen or not return, has me a bit on edge.

I have now starting my 5th week on these drugs. I can honestly say I have had no serious side effects. It can be a little hard to tell, because the heat of July was almost unbearable...even inside with air-conditioning it is quite humid, so I have a hard time gaugeing if I am haveing hot flashes, or if it is just hot and stuffy. My apt. with my Rheumy is the 18th. I suspect we will check blood work and adjust med. The girls are feeling close to normal. Scarred, but soft.

Hi, as far the present symptoms are concerend, probably they are due to prednisone only. Verapamil is the drug given in prophylaxis of migraine but it can not abort the attack once it get started. May be you need to taper the dose of prednisone as this drug is never withdrawn instantly. Do consult doctor for side effects.

I know it is the side effects but was wondering if anyone has any ideas for relief of it. My back hurts as well I do use a heating pad on it and sometimes it helps but the neck, shoulders, and stomach are so uncomfortable. Does anyone do anything that helps with this?

m also on methotrexate which we just upped the dose on so I can slowly come off the prednisone. The side effects if steroids suck but it could always be worse. I as actually losing weight prior to prednisone I had lost 20lbs now I have just maintained my weight while busting my butt at the gym. Hopefully the prednisone is helping u and where its draining heals soon.
