Potassium chloride should not be taken with some blood pressure medications such as losartan, lisinopril, and some others. Are you on any medication? If yes, write them here and I will try to check for you if they are OK to take with potassium chloride.
Avatar m tn A diagnosis of hypertension is often made by 2 separate blood pressure readings that are high separated in time. A blood pressure of 160/100 falls in the category of Stage 2 hypertension which is often treated with medications in addition to lifestyle modification of diet and cardiovascular exercise. Having high blood pressure puts you at risk for further cardiovascular complications such as coronary disease and renovascular disease.

Avatar n tn Potassium and Calcium and important electrolytes in muscles. Potassium is one of those electrolytes you dont really want to be messed up in your body. High potassium levels can cause heart dysrrhythmias, since your heart is a big muscle, Other signs of hyperkalemia(increased potassium) are nausea vomitting, restlessness, irritability, I am looking in my book right now to make sure i can give you the most accurate information. Chloride there is not much on.
Avatar n tn t know much about heart disease or high blood pressure but let me tell you a couple things I know about this medication. Lisinopril is used to control high blood pressure and water retention. Too strong of a dosage can cause diarrhea which can cause potassium to drop low. Losartan - potassium (Cozarr) is used to control hypertension and might be a better fit for your daughters condition as the side effects are similar. I hope this helps.
Avatar f tn Hypokalemia can be life-threatening and should always be treated by a doctor. Connection with blood pressure is not conclusive but there is some evidence it may lower blood pressure. Hope this provides some insight into the questions you have asked. Thanks for the question, and if you have any further question or comments you are invited to respond. Take care.
Avatar m tn I do think that continued high blood pressure can cause kidney problems. You've had this going on for quite awhile now so it's time to do something about it. Most Drs will do nothing if ***'s below 139/89, because it's pre hypertension and they want you to try and control with it with less stress, diet and exercise. But 160/100 is hypertension. Solace gives you great advice. Get more reading so they can take an average.

Avatar f tn glucose, calcium, pre-albumin, albumin, electrolytes (sodium, CO2, potassium and chloride), blood urea nitrogen (BUN), creatinine, alkaline phosphatase (ALP), alanine amino transferase (ALT), aspartate amino transferase (AST), and bilirubin.
Avatar f tn If those are off you might have this problem. Like too high of blood pressure or too high or low of blood sugar. Maybe get a metabolic panel that includes a potassium, chloride , CO2 and Maybe also a Kidney check (BUN and Creatinine). Have you had a check up?
Avatar m tn 8. So I took some Potassium chloride, seemed to help, been drinking milk more often (high in potassium) and now the PVCs are back, not as bad as before, but they mainly occur when I try to sleep. I find I sleep on my right side and they arent as prevalent. Seems like most of my discomfort is while laying down. Anyone else experience this? I just worry that perhaps my heart is weakening, which might explain my slow heart rate and what appears to be "healthy" blood pressure.
393419 tn?1228447393 Sorry if this isn't the proper place for this. . .but my anxiety is flaring up & I could use some feedback! Thanks! Just got back from the endo. . .and I have to say I'm a little depressed. As most of you know, I had a TT on 8/4 and have been struggling with low blood calcium issues ever since. After being released from a 5 day hospital stay to get the calcium regulated, I was put on 2000mg of calcium 4 times a day and 2mg calcitrol twice a day to keep it up.
Avatar f tn Ramipril can actually cause high potassium. If you already have high or borderline high potassium at baseline, then this is probably not the best choice of medication for you. There are blood pressure medications that can actually lower potassium, such as HCTZ, which is often a 1st line medication. Ask your doctor about this medicine.
Avatar n tn Hi Doctor, For the past 6 months, i have had a tightness in my upper abdomen and what feels like tension, but also a little pressure. I have had ct scans, ultrasounds, etc, and nothing comes back. I am convinced I have Cancer. My neutrophil counts have been slightly high for a few months now. I had blood drawn a couple weeks ago, and here were the results. Can you please help me analyze these? Are there any indicators that would make one believe I have cancer?
Avatar n tn In most people, when sodium goes down, potassium rises - you get confusion, nausea, headaches, vomiting, low blood pressure, chills, sweats, fevers, and it all can lead to coma and death. Look up adrenal crisis for other symptoms. Now, in some people with adrenal issues, potassium does not rise.
Avatar n tn what is the difference between Potassium Chloride, Potassium Nitrate and Potassium Citrate?
Avatar n tn s you lose alot of sodium and gain alot of potassium. Aldosterone also helps drive-up your blood pressure. High aldosterone levels, indicates too much of the hormone being released leading to high Blood pressure. I did read something about Conn Syndrome but your blood pressure would be high. Definitly check into a Renin test...that will help diagnose Conn Syndrome or secondary hyperaldosteronism. Both levels high indicates secondary. While, aldosterone high and renin low means Conn's.
Avatar f tn I know this cant be good to go on now with this high of blood pressure and nothing done about it. I dont know where to turn to next. Just seems like something was done during my surgery and the dr doesnt want to give me a answer. Im so frustrated.
