Avatar m tn My wife and I have a low potassium diet and need to supplement with 1.5g to 2.5g per day depending on how active we are and how much milk we drink for added protein. We are getting a lot of contradictory info about potassium supplementation products. We have been told by a PA and MD that that we are wasting our time taking OTC potassium gluconate because it is not being absorbed. Online comments often repeat the same message.

Avatar f tn I can eat greasy foods and not get deathly sick! I take a pinch of potassium chloride daily or few times a week. I ordered potassium chloride, (FYI: different kinds of potassium) on Amazon. It is a powder formula, love it because I can’t swallow pills. (FYI: different kinds of potassium when you look to order) I ordered an 8oz bag in January 2020 for around $12.00 & has last me all year. I hope this may help someone!
Avatar m tn It also seems to make clear that the type of potassium salt you are taking (chloride, citrate, gluconate, acetate, bicarbonate, etc) does not matter. The only thing that counts is the amount of actual (elemental) potassium you are ingesting. For instance we take 595mg tablets of potassium gluconate containing 99mg of elemental potassium. This means that if I am willing to take 20 of these cheap little pills a day to get my 2000mg (2g) of potassium that is just fine.
617141 tn?1225706428 Transfer was postponed till I get better. Doctor gave me Lasix 40 mg to be taken once and Neo-K (potassium chloride) 500 mg twice daily for 5 days for now. My concern is that I ate two potatoes, one banana, a cup of yogurt, and tomato, all potassium sources today.

1118724 tn?1357010591 But elevated as well as too low potassium can be bad for the heart and cause arrhythmia. Potassium chloride should not be taken with some blood pressure medications such as losartan, lisinopril, and some others. Are you on any medication? If yes, write them here and I will try to check for you if they are OK to take with potassium chloride.
Avatar f tn 1, low potassium of 3.2, low phosphorus of 2.2, low sodium of 131, and low chloride of 94. Everything else seemed ok. The hematologist is still waiting on some other tests to come back and is considering a bone marrow biopsy depending on results. I just want to know why I am always sick. Any thoughts are appreciated.
Avatar m tn m wondering if you can or can not use something like Lo Salt that has potassium chloride in it along with beta blockers, and if so how much is recommended. I'm looking to substitute lo salt for some other high in potassium foods in order to cut down on my sugar content.
Avatar f tn Hi! Thanks for responding. I am using the OV watch and was just wondering if there is a "loop hole" in this technology. Meaning to say that just because the watch is reading the chloride activity and indicating so on the watch, could I assume I was ovulating as well. Guess I'm just tired of disappointment. This is the first month I have used the watch and it has indicated Fertile Day one-four and OV Day 1 and so on. We've been going at it!

Avatar f tn Potassium is a chemical element and it is part of the electrolyte that should be in balance with other lytes to adequately conduct an electrical impulse that originates with the sinus node in the right atrium. The mechanism of action is not completely understood, but what is when a voltage (unit of potential for conduction) and electrolyte there will conduction and passage of electrical impluses.
Avatar f tn Hello, I had unprotected sex with a man (of unknown status) exactly eight weeks ago. It lasted less then two minutes and there was no ejaculation. I didnt suffer from any flu like symptoms but decided to get tested (elisa duo) 6 weeks post exposure. I also had a full std check up. All my results came back negative, however i began to develop anxiety over how 'conclusive' these results were.
1618806 tn?1304734477 Salad binge?! I eat salads every day. LOL! But I'm highly concerned about the advice your dishing out about Ms. Dash. Ms. Dash IS NOT a salt substitute it is merely a salt replacement. There's a WORLD of difference between Ms. Dash and Morton Salt Substitute (for example) which is loaded with Potassium Chloride. If you take the time to read the ingredients on ANY Ms. Dash flavors, you'll find nothing but herbs and spices, there's absolutely NO potassium chloride in it.
Avatar n tn she also got blood work done for signs of fatigue (showed up months before this incident) and her chloride and potassium levels were well above healthy. could this contribute to her period being late? please let me know, thanks.
910419 tn?1289483727 uses either natural or synthetic version of methylene chloride and ethyl acetate to get the caffeine out of the bean. The amount of methylene chloride they use in food stuffs is non-toxic and harmless, although the substance itself can be toxic. Methylene chloride is a solvent. Ethyl acetate is also a solvent and over-all it has a low-toxicity rating and the level they use in food-stuffs is non-toxic.
20794198 tn?1534529493 If v2 or v3 is not present in reference and the bottom strip is in fact lead II alone, then the possibility exists for a congealed lqt1 based off morphology. An epinephrine stress would clarify diagnosis but without symptoms or a qtc over 500ms such a test would be sort of pointless (thered be no need to actually do anything). 3. Everything else looks normal.
Avatar f tn Consume high-potassium foods such as fruits (specifically, avocados, apricots, bananas, dates, nectarines, oranges, raisins), vegetables (specifically artichokes, parsnips, spinach, tomatoes, yams), whole grains, molasses, clams, cod, halibut, yogurt, and nuts. Low potassium can lead to problems with your muscles and heart. Too much potassium can lead to irregular heartbeats. Too much magnesium, on the other hand, will give you loose bowels.
Avatar f tn A drug derived from the hydrangea root, used for centuries in traditional Chinese medicine, shows promise in treating autoimmune disorders, report researchers from the Program in Cellular and Molecular Medicine and the Immune Disease Institute at Children’s Hospital Boston (PCMM/IDI), along with the Harvard School of Dental Medicine. Avatar f tn Cystic fibrosis is a rare genetic disorder. He need to undergo investigations such as Sweat chloride, Molecular diagnosis and Nasal potential difference measurements to rule out this condition. The treatment is usually symptomatic. DNase I (dornase alfa), hypertonic saline and N-acetylcysteine are the available to loosen the mucus. I would suggest you to consult physician for further evaluation. Take care and regards.
Avatar n tn Mild hypokalemia could be treated with oral potassium chloride supplements and nutritional supplements like bananas, oranges, tomatoes, green leafy vegetables etc. The tachycardia at night is most likely due to anxiety and stress of an upcoming cardiologist appointment. Hope this helps. Take care.
