my doctor just told me i had post traumatic stress syndrome, and honestly i'm not sure what that means... why are the "symptoms" of this disorder? Are there any long term issues i should worry about?

The other closest differential is fibromyalgia and post traumatic stress disorder .Fibromyalgia is diagnosed by a complete history and physical examination. It is better to rule out conditions that mimic fibromyalgia. Once any pathology is ruled out seeking the opinion of a psychologist will be really helpful.
