Avatar f tn I am now off the thinners but my Heart Doctor kept me on the Beta Blockers because I still had Tachycardia and my blood pressure is still a little high. Since then, I have started to see a Weight Management doctor for my weight issues related to the PCOS. The wight doctor put me on Phentermine.
Avatar f tn Everyone is different and what might be too high a blood pressure for me could be just fine for you. From what I've read, phentermine is not usually given to those with high blood pressure. I agree that you should talk to your doctor and make sure he understands your blood pressure issue. I also agree that you should look eliminate hypothyroidism as a cause of your weight issues.

Avatar f tn I contacted my surgeon and he prescribed Phentermine and it has done the trick. I lost 8 pounds in the first 6 days taking it. If you have high blood pressure, any history of addiction, etc. your doctor may not rescribe it - and some doctors will not prescribe it at all. Good luck!
Avatar f tn Does anyone here have experience with Phentermine? My doctor let me talk him into it for weight loss last June. It's supposed to be only taken for 8-12 weeks, but since I've kept losing weight and my blood pressure stays low, he's kept refilling my prescription. I take 37.5 mg once a day. I know this drug is a stimulant, etc. and it can become addictive. Every once in a while-- like today-- I don't take it, just to see if *not* taking it bugs me.
673515 tn?1234320119 as for the vertigo, i think it might be your low blood pressure, when this happens just dab a little salt on your tongue and the pressure will rise immediately, as for the palpitations just drink water slowly or take over the counter ant-acid medication i;e mylanta.
Avatar f tn How high is your blood sugar? I do think that you should see your Dr asap given these symptoms.
Avatar f tn My blood pressure was 138/85 (I think). I don't usually take my blood pressure, so I don't know what it is. This was the second time though they said it was high (last time was in June). I have been on thyroid meds for 18 years (since birth of my daughter). My med is Thyroid (USP) 120 mg. It is compounded. As for symptoms, well I don't have a lot of energy. I weigh 173, having gone down from 205 (June).
Avatar f tn The doc ran again this week and again the platelets are normal but WBC is high at 13. High count is due to neutrophils. I am asymptomatic w/regards to infection, although I have had extreme fatigue and a lot of weird aches/pains lately (flank pain & belly pain). These pains were so intermittent that I have not thought much of them. But now the doc is sending me to an internist for additional eval. Not sure what to think - can the high WBC and petechia be related to the same issue?
459663 tn?1236000877 Phentermine is a synthetic amphetemine that people were recently getting off of the internet. The high that you get is similiar to amphetamines only lasts less and you build a quicker tolerance. These are psycologically addictive but not physically. They can give you a jump in blood pressure, increased heart rate and a heart attack or stroke. I agree with you. I'd change docs. Some of them don't care if they get you addicted. Esp if they have a private practice. It keeps you coming back.
747138 tn?1233062333 ve had to stop due to the fact it has been making my blood pressure sky rocket. My blood pressure if back to normal and I would like to continue to take. I was thinking once a week. Is that a good idea?
Avatar n tn Hello, Phentermine can alter your blood sugar levels, if you are going to try using it please use it with caution and monitor your blood sugar levels more frequently... if you notice changes and if your blood sugars are becoming too low then stop taking phentermine, and seek further advice about what you could use instead of phentermine. Remember that diabetes should be your priority.
Avatar n tn Eli68 - you should try to get new thyroid blood work done, to determine if your medication dosage is too high, or if the palps and anxiety could be from the phentermine. When you get them, you can post the results and reference ranges here for us to further evaluate.
473503 tn?1225489964 Well, i have done this, got my blood pressure down and thought that by taking vitamins and SAMe that my metabolism would somehow change back to the way it used to be... no such luck. I really need something to kick start my weight loss plan. As one of the other posters said, I too weighed around 135 pounds when i got married and have balooned up to 190! I hate to even put that in writing.
Avatar n tn My mother is in her late 70's with very high blood pressure (systolic pressure was at 250). She's getting tests done, but they don't seem to be timely or thorough enough. My mother is horrible with advocating for herself. Her PCP told her that she may just have to live with high blood pressure. Could this be true????I don't think they are treating it aggressively enough.
Avatar f tn With postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome one can have both low and high blood pressure. Mine can spike at times with standing. I do think that was remiss on the part of the cardiologist not to order the tilt table test to try to better determine what kind of autonomic dysfunction your son may have, since that is what they decided to diagnose him with. With the echocardiogram, with that kind of ejection fraction, did they see any defects in any of his valves or anything?
Avatar m tn I am now on an appeal for a new treatment after being turned down by my insurance company.Has anybody with similar symptons experienced sudden high blood pressure and found out what might have caused it.The doc I saw in the emergency room couldn't answer why it happened.
Avatar n tn Often if you live with such high levels of pressure, it may suddenly swing to either very high or very low side with serious health damages. High blood pressure could be a symptom of some other health issues, like high cholesterol, blocking or thinning of some arteries, diabetes or kidney problem, so that a thorough evaluation will be required before treating it.
Avatar n tn For example, eighteen percent of people with high blood pressure can reduce the pressure by taking simple calcium supplements. That study was funded by a company manufacturing calcium-channel blockers, for whom I worked briefly two decades ago. A long, long time ago, when Obama was a gleam in his father's eye, I worked in college in a behavioral science lab and we experimented with use of conditioning to reduce blood pressure.
Avatar f tn 1. those with too much fluid in their system 2. those with contraction of the arterioles forcing the pressure to rise 3. those with a high heart rate forces pressure to increase. Someone can also have a combination of these problems as well. So without additional info I cannot say if diet, lifestyle changes, or medication is what she needs. I can tell you this: you must take care of it as high blood pressure slowly destroys all end organs (brain, liver, kidneys, heart, lungs).
Avatar f tn Hi, I am in limbo too with an MS dx but I was dx with transverse myelitis. I experience the same thing with my blood pressure. Also my heartrate is all over the place too.It seems to really like to happen when I' laying on my left side trying to go to sleep. I asked my neuro about this and he said that you can have damage to the autonomic nervous system too sometimes. And that will cause BP and HR abnormailities.
9070037 tn?1414632966 I have PIH (pregnancy induced hypertension) & also had it with my previous pregnancy. I'm taking Methyldopa & it works very well at keeping my bp under control. Did your doctor suggest another medicine or did s/he just tell you to stop your previous med? Keeping your bp at a normal level is essential during pregnancy because higher pressure can lead to preeclampsia or even scarier, eclampsia which can cause seizures, coma, or even death.
