I started taking Phentermine 30 mg daily on Feb 4, 2009. To date I have not lost a pound. Infact I gained a 2 lbs. I have increased my exercise on my Elliptical (30-60min/day) and started to eat healthier. How long does it take for phentermine to kick in? Any advice? Anything I should say to my physcian?
I have done Phentermine and Fastin and other pills and patches and things you put in your coffee and stuff you do every other day and on and on....
Feb 15, 2011- I decided enough was enough. I finally accepted that to lose weight, I will have to actually Get Up Off The Couch and DO something. I started by walking on a treadmill (started at a mile) and now I am up to 2 miles. I have cut out 99% of sodas and sweet tea. No junk food.
If you were my patient, I would advise you that phentermine should not affect your depo shot. Depo is notoriously bad for causing weight gain.
Just something to consider.

It hit me one day that I was basically using the Phentermine to get going, and then Lunesta or Xanax to stop going. It seemed like a questionable cycle, and I thought I'd better give it a good hard look.
You are going to cause yourself to have heart problems do to the excessive amount of caffeine. Its bad enough that you run the risk of heart problems with Phentermine but adding energy drinks to that just adds to the risk. I took Phentermine for a while. I never drank energy drinks because I cant stand them but I now have heart problems because of the Phentermine.
I had five days under my belt then the weekend came, my body was still hurting and I caved. I took a 4 or 5 phentermine yesterday I feel like such a loser. I think I will try tappering off them I don't think I can handle another week like this past one.

I am 39 and same thing happened ot me. I was taking a pill once a day for 3 weeks then found out I was pregnant. Nothing stops those cravings right. So anyway, I stopped taking them immediately. I miscarried at 10 weeks along. The doctors are telling me my fertility level is like .01. I don't drink, smoke or do any drugs. I don't understand why everyone in my family has kids but me.
The reality is that phentermine (alone) has actually never been shown to cause PH, either in kids or adults. Only the combination of phentermine with fenfluramine (also known as fen-fen or Redux) is associated with an increased risk of PH. And even then, the majority of those who used this diet pill did not develop the disease. So, I would not be worried if she used phentermine alone.
I just stay busy the best I can and try not to be around food. The downside of Phentermine for me was: I usually don't feel it working, Caffeine will counter act mine as well as stress and anything else negative in my life. I also started to take 2 pills then backed off cause it keeps me wired at night. Since I have been on this I have to say it never helped me lose weight but it kept me from thinking about pigging out and if you work out on it, it helps out so much and works better.
