Avatar f tn My mother is in the 7th stage of her Alzheimer's and started grinding her teeth on a regular basis but won't allow anything to be put in her mouth like a mouth guard and if we were to try gum she would probably swallow it as she seems to swallow everything that she puts in her mouth these days and we have tried to entertain her at the extended care facility - but her attention span is very short these days. Any other suggestions????
Avatar f tn Any head injury may cause teeth grinding. I had a TBI and I am not sure I am grinding my teeth in sleep (bcuz I wake up with dizziness, headache, fatigue everyday/all day) but planning to go to a TMJ specialist at some point.
Avatar f tn Hello mommies I have been having some teeth pain and my gums have been mildly bleeding which happined with both of my other pregnancys but I just uped my brushing and flossing and it went away. This time my teeth are sore when I get up in the morning and the bleeding is getting worse! My bf told me after I mentioned it that I have been grinding my teeth at night. Never have b4 anyone going through this? Or have you guys heard of grinding your teeth while pregnant?
Avatar m tn I had terrible issues with grinding and gnashing with my teeth and I have no idea which tx drug caused that or what mechanism of the drug would cause that to happen - it drove me absolutely nuts though. I also got this weird thing where I would be sweating but cold at the same time, or vice versa.
1255530 tn?1269867619 t grind my teeth, but I clench my jaw. I clench it so tight it actually becomes painful to my muscles and even my teeth hurt, and I get to a point where I can't even stop myself. I get headaches from doing it. I don't know if it is due to my bipolar or my anxiety but I've done it for as long as I can remember.
Avatar n tn the amount of pressure in night time grinding is what wears our joints and cracks our teeth. i cant tell you what to do but you need to discuss this with a dentist and if he suggests only wearing it during the day GET A SECOND OPINION!! if you get the splint issue worked out and you have pain in the muscles in the face and jaw sometimes physical therapy will help. good luck and let me know what happens.
187316 tn?1386356682 Aspen keeps grinding her teeth and it is driving me insane. I keep giving her things to put into her mouth so that she wont grind them because I think that it could be causing damage and dont want it to become a permanent habit. Does anyone know of anything to get babies to stop grinding teeth?
Avatar f tn UGH Have a new symptom, excessive teeth grinding/clenching. I have always grinded my teeth at night, but now I do it all day, it's gotten to the point where it's because very uncomfortable and painful. I literally can not stop, no matter how hard I try. I understand that this could be related to anxiety, but sometimes it literally happens all day on days where I have no anxiety. Anyone experience this???
Avatar n tn I have been grinding my teeth at night when I sleep and it is causing jaw and tooth pain. I recently went to the dentist where we discussed a custom made mouth piece that I would wear at night. The only problem is that it cost about $800.00!!! There is anohter mouth piece that they can make that is a "lesser model" that is about $300.00.
427382 tn?1298209586 Yup - I have a grinder! It makes me cringe w/ the sound of it. Just the sound. Hayden sprouted 4 top teeth at 7 months - all at once. Her crib rail is completely chewed up (though the novelty of this wore off so she doesn't chomp it anymore) and our TV stand is also chewed. I've only caught her grinding 2 or 3 times and I just insert my finger in there and say "no hayden".
10069532 tn?1407594111 You can get a sports mouth guard and boil it and mold it to fit your teeth and then wear it to bed. The dentist told me to do that for my Fiance instead of getting them made specially for him.
2094952 tn?1334015457 My 4 month old Maltese is grinding his teeth or something. It is almost like he has a plastic pop cap in his mouth and he is biting down on it.
Avatar n tn About a year ago I started clenching my jaw and grinding my teeth in my sleep. I realized I was doing this after waking up a few mornings with horrible headaches and pain in my jaw. My dentist fitted me for a mouth guard (which I wear every night) and then things seemed a little better. Well for the past 2 months I feel like I am doing it more than ever. I wear the mouth guard every night but I am waking up with jaw pain. Is there anything else I can do or take to alleviate this?
601114 tn?1220533411 teeth grinding is something that can be fairly common for children and adults. Often, people grind their teeth when they are stressed out about something or anxious. It can be difficult to address this issue with a 4 year old though. Are you aware of anything that may be causing some anxiety? A new routine like beginning pre-school, a move to a new location, house, etc? If it really becomes a problem, you can take him to the dentist and they can fit him for a mouth guard...
Avatar n tn My symptoms are strange. I have been grinding my teeth 24/7 and my legs tense up a lot. Sometimes I twist my legs or ankles or straighten them and hold the position due to the leg tension. What could be the cause of this?
4405063 tn?1354071904 my son keeps grinding and clenching his teeth, my friends told me to go and seek for an advice but i dont have enough budget..can't afford to go to dentist regularly..any suggestions on how my son will stop grinding his teeth? thank you so much!
Avatar f tn Almost a year ago my brother was hit by a car and is somewhat in a minimally conscious state. Soon after opening his eyes and starting to be a little more active he started grinding his teeth and the doctors can't seem to figure out why. But it seems as of late, it's almost as if he only grinds his teeth after he yawns (which he does do frequently) and he scowls after a yawn too, almost like a pain face.
Avatar n tn sounds like your problem may be due to grinding. let me tell you from a hardcore grinder, it can make your teeth sens. hurt and shift. talk to your dentist about this and if it is the problem a splint, or nightgaurd can help. bad thing is it is usually covered by medical ins, and hmo's dont cover it . but if you can get one it will save your teeth!
Avatar n tn If your dentist has x-rayed your teeth and has found no problem with your teeth or gums then it would behoove you and your dentist to look in another direction. What stands out in your description is the clenching and grinding that you seem to be doing. I think you need to address that situation with your dentist or a doctor that specializes in TMJ dysfunction. These habits are harmful to your teeth, gums and joint areas.
1445161 tn?1312085507 I also think that all these years of grinding has made my jaw muscles larger and it just looks big and unappealing to me. Am I right? Can you please tell me more about this? I need to know the effects, and the changes etc. and the procedure itself. Also, if you could provide me with before/after pics. Thanks in advanced.
Avatar n tn They may last 15-20 years with proper case selection-- usually that means patients who do not grind their teeth, and have a favorable bite. molds need to be taken of your teeth and your bite needs to be evaluated on an articulator--- a device which shows the dentist how you open, close, chew etc.
Avatar n tn I have severe gum loss on my right side (lower is worse) and moderate loss on the left.Front gums are fine. Teeth are fine and I brush (soft bristle) & floss regularly, always have. Front teeth are fine. My dentist has told me that I have a bite problem an the grinding pressure on my molars has caused bone loss and gum recession. I went to a periodontist a few years ago, and he agreed with the assessment of the bite problem.
977806 tn?1249067346 Teeth grinding while sleeping can cause teeth to not only wear away ,but to crack and actually put so much pressure on the jaw it can cause headaches, teeth grinding at nite will do some serious damage
Avatar n tn When we adopted him, they said he was 9 months old. (this was back in June). He saw a vet then, and was neutered. He's done the teeth-grinding since the day we got him. Thank you!
Avatar n tn Dyskinesia improved. 1.5 month ago, teeth grinding started day and night. She is now taking 3 per day sinemet 25/175, 25/175, 25/100 (9 am, 1pm, 5:30pm), and Requip 0.125 every other day(9pm). Teeth grinding improved 50% at least (5:30pm sinemet uses low dosage because it looks like impact her falling into sleep even with Rozerem. She used to be able to fall into sleep quickly when took 25/100, but cannot for increased dosage).
