Common Questions and Answers about Phentermine and pcos

phentermine

Avatar m tn My doctor also prescribed taking metformin(glucophage) in addition to the phentermine and birth control. I have lost about 8 pounds in the last month since taking the phentermine but i dont feel like I am losing enough weight for how little i have been eating.
Avatar f tn Since then, I have started to see a Weight Management doctor for my weight issues related to the PCOS. The wight doctor put me on Phentermine. I am supposed to start these tomorrow but am a little concerned if Phentermine and a Beta Blocker can be taken safely together under my certain circumstances and if I should have any concerns regarding my already strained heart, while on something like Phentermine? Thank you in advance for any help!
Avatar f tn I have also found articles and personal accounts of phentermine being very helpful to women who have PCOS because of the increased hardship that comes with losing weight. I also found articles on phentermine being helpful to women with bulimia because it helps to control the compulsive eating. I read that it has been more helpful to women than even prozac (which did absolutely nothing for me). I don't believe that the bulimia and the PCOS are two separate things for me.
Avatar f tn I have regularly been checked for thyroid and diabetes. I do take medication for bipolar disorder and manic depression. Neither of these drugs are supposed to cause weight gain either. Phentermine is a stimulant/appetite suppressant. I am going to try liposage slim wrap this week and see if that helps.
Avatar f tn After having my son I was diagnosed with pcos. Since having my son I have lost a total of 70 lbs and now can not lose anymore weight no matter how little I eat. I feel like I absolutely do not need another adjustment. I have been at this stand still for 6 months now. I am wondering can my pcos have anything to do with my weight loss difficulties. I am proud of the 70 lbs I have lost yet I still need to lose about 50 more lbs. Thank You so much.
Business woman2 First rule out any health issues that might cause weight gain/prevent loss, such as hypothyroidism, insulin resistance, PCOS, etc, then work on cutting calories and getting plenty of exercise. You have almost 6 months, if you start a meal/exercise plan and stick with it, you should be able to lose the weight by Aug, provided you don't have any untreated medical issues, holding you back. If you haven't been tested for any of those things, you should be.
Avatar f tn t until I was 31 years old that I was diagnosed with PCOS. I clearly had the hormone imbalances that go with this prior to conceiving my daughter and prior to becoming bulimic. I divorced my husband 7 years ago and have since remarried and with the use of Metformin was able to conceive another child. While I was pregnant the binging and purging was actually quite easy to control. My baby is now 5 months old and I am again having a very difficult time controlling the impulsive behavior.
Avatar f tn The last 2 months, my doctor put me on phentermine. I went in today for my rx renewal and I have not lost 1 pound. She feels the constipation is why, but I do not. My stomach has been in better shape the last 4 months than it was this time last year. I work 2 jobs and am on my feet constantly, I eat healthy (low fat diet, no carbs, fruits, veggies and meats only) as well as work out 2-4 times a week, and play volleyball 2 hrs 3x a week.
Avatar n tn m curious why more studies have not been conducted to study the correlation between phentermine and acne? Acne is not listed as a possible side effect of phentermine, but phentermine is considered a methamphetamine; methamphetamines are known to causes acne. I am a biology teacher and am frustrated that medical professionals are not confirming the overwhelming reports of acne being associated with phentermine. Is it a conspiracy????
551496 tn?1215614366 I have some spotting and cramps. I am sure it will be a rough one! I did stop the phentermine over the weekend and started back yesterday(Monday). Maybe thats what triggered it....who knows. Being a woman shouldnt be this much stress and hard work!
494656 tn?1209640771 I have used adipex(phentermine) and have had the B12 shots before and it was awesome. That was before I had kids and moved to NC and then to SC where I currently reside. I have had two kids and Im approximately 45 lbs overweight. My daughter is 7 months old and I know they say to give it the same amount of time it took to put it on. Well Im only 2 months shy of that date and I still have 45 lbs to lose.
927140 tn?1244210051 I have been on phentermine for a little over a month because I had problems shedding post-partum weight, but then found out that I also have hypothyroidism and was prescribed with Levothyroxine (by the same doctor and kept me on phentermine). I was overwhelmed when my pharmacy printed out a long *WARNING OF DRUG INTERACTION* sheet telling me of all the possible side effects etc... I have gone from taking a vitamin a day to 3 prescription drugs, that have possible hazardous interactions.
Avatar f tn I've been taking monthly B12 injections for about 2 years, and 37.5 mg phentermine daily for about a month, and I haven't lost any weight at all. The four and a half pounds that I've lost, I attribute to the boot camp that joined two weeks ago.
Avatar f tn My dr. recently prescribed Metformin (500 mg 2x/day) and Phentermine (37.5 mg/day). I started the meds approximately a week ago. I was told the Phen would give me all of this energy and that the Metformin would keep me in the bathroom a lot until my body adjusted, but I have had neither really. The first couple of days on the Phen I had a boost of energy, which I loved, but it quickly faded. I am now constantly tired, no matter how much sleep I get.
1401296 tn?1280799533 I went to my first visit at a doctor in Victoria, Texas last Friday. They gave me phentermine 30mg with 5htp combined and Lipo B injectibles to do at home. I 'm trying to figure out if anyone else has tried this method of dieting and is it safe? I'm at the highest weight I've ever been at (257) and very desperate, but also cautious. Please anyone with information out there let me know.
1630756 tn?1299826063 (basically 1 month and 2 weeks) but I also started taking Phentermine to loose weight...I would really like to know if The Phentermine will interfere with the Depo Shot? If it does, what other birht control method can I use??? Thank you.
Avatar f tn My gyno explained it to me that pcos is kind of like a never ending circle we're fat because we have it and have it because we're fat... She told me that even if I was determined to strictly eat healthy and exercise I wouldn't loose any weight. She put me on phentermine. It works!
Avatar f tn I went to see my doctor and he put me on phentermine 37.5mg once a day and topamax 23 mg in half doeses twice dailey. I also take adderall 20mg twice Dailey. I asked him if theses two meds who interact with one another and his response was no . I guess my question is how do I safely spread them out during the day. It seems I can't get it right because when I take either or I get very anxious . I already take a anti anxiety med clonazepam for accational panic attacks.
Avatar f tn I prescribed60 mg of adderall but one week I had to take left over phentermine and 10mg adderall and my focusing was great and energy and I still do take 1/3 of phentermine a day.
Avatar f tn Started phentermine after trying invonkana, and trulicity to bring my a1c down. Mid January 2017 I started the phentermine. Towards the end of February 2017 I had ketones in my urine and was in ketosis. I was excercisin religiously and watching my carb intake.i was eating between 100 to 150gms of carbs. Avatar f tn I agree with msme7..................except, maybe you need to come down off it slowly, rather than "cold turkey". Talk to your doctor............. Once you get off it, please feel free to come back and let us help you lose your weight the healthy way.........
5386181 tn?1367217483 I then went to an RE they diagnosed me with PCOS .. Did some tests on me and my husband and told us that we had to do IVF/FET to get pregnant bc we both had fertility issues. We have had 2 successful pregnancies with FET and are looking to get pregnant again with our 3rd.
897541 tn?1241719557 Im getting the B-12 and lipo shots as well. Maybe I will still get results if I stop taking the phentermine and stick to the shots. Does anyone have any feedback or advice.
