My big toe and to a lesser extent toe immediately adjacent have all the symptoms of the unsightly onychomycosis. The skin next to my big toe has for some time had a reddish appearance, but has just recently starting eroding and has rapidly deteriorated. There is no pain, but it is very unsightly and no amount of moisturing helps.
Because Lamisil has potential liver toxicity and is expensive, my doctor did not seem to favor treating my onychomycosis systemically.
I went to the dermatologist and they prescribed Penlac to treat the nail fungus. After using Penlac for a while I noticed that it was not working for me. After that, I went back to the dermatologist and they did a culture and they said it was a fungus. I have visited several dermatologists over the past few years and they have prescribed many topical creams for the nail and nothing seems to work. Things have gotten worse.
I might be in the wrong forum as well but I was prescribed lamisil after a positive test for Onychomycosis on my toenails. I was told to take one tablet a day for 3 months. My doctor did check my liver before starting and he called to say everything was normal and to go forth with the treatment.
I've heard so many bad things from hair loss, death, loss of taste and I'm so scared.
I was okay trying to control(possibly) the fungus on my toes and my thumb and index fingernails. Now it needs like what my wife is having(black dot on her thumb) now resembles what I had once upon a time. I don't want her to fight with fungus.
I did see a dermatolgist yesterday and she said my toes are likely fungus-related but she had I didn't have enough nail for samples. Prescribed me Penlac(sp?) and asked me to go back when the toenails grow out...
I am so confused now.
Hep-C compromises my immune system. I developed a fungal infection on my toe nails about 5 years ago. I can't say for certain that my compromised immune system contributed to my toenail fungal infection, but it's possible. My doctor treated my fungal infection with pills that were easy on my liver.
I've never get my nails done but have been in cosmo class. you can wear a mask to prevent the smell from harming you & your baby if your worried.
so for yearsssss I've kept my nails done and I haven't done that for a while now bc supposably it's bad while pregnant im 12 weeks pregnant will it harm my baby if I go for a pedicure and gel nails ?

thanks for ur help guyz....i tried doing this after reading today morning....but she is very stubborn...is tr any other way...like making her sleep....n over the top i somehow may cut her nails for the first time but after tht i have to cut it every week...which is very hard...
I'm pretty sure acrylic nails for you aren't the best way to go because of all the chemicals. I bought this nail polish called "knocked up nails". It's pregnancy safe nail polish. I also bought acetone free nail polish remover. I took it to the nail salon. I went as early as they opened and sat near the door and they kept it open for me. That way I wasn't exposed to any fumes.
They say you shouldn't get your nails done because of all the fumes. If you really want them done I'd wait until the second trimester.
Poditrist can help you with these problems really nothing otc does any good. soak your feet in a foot massager and take care of them better.
Im not sure but i would imagine its not the best for your or baby they have strong smells.
Is there anything I can give my cat to knock her out so I'll be able to clip and cap her nails? She doesn't like to be held so as soon as she's picked up she freaks out. I've even tried to just clip them while she's sleeping or laying around and again she freaks out. She'll do anything to get me away while I'm trying to clip her nails. I really need help with this, I'm trying to rule out getting her declawed.
Gel nails have way less fumes. And they're better for your nails beds and non porous, so they're fine to have around baby too.
