Common Questions and Answers about Pathophysiology of appendicitis in schematic diagram

appendicitis

Avatar m tn If pulse is more than 80 and blood shows high TLC counts, is suggestive of appendicitis. In case of ureter stone, urine usually shows infection and ultrasound is diagnostic, pain is usually radiating in nature. Well colon pain is colicky or dull in nature, do you have recent history of diarrhea?
Avatar n tn I have a stinging pain in lower right side of abdominal(similar place where the appendix is) and the pain is appeared irregulary(especially when lying on my back). I don't feel this pain in normal or during working somthing else but the pain always occurs when I lie on my back with stretched legs(so, I have been sleeping on my side bending my right knee for about 2 years as I can't lie on my back).
Avatar f tn I looked at a diagram of what a vagina should look like versus mine and it was completely different. The clit was in the right spot but I couldn't even see any sign of a urethra, but I thought that was just because it's small. But then just to check while i peed and the pee is coming out of my vagina as it appears.
Avatar f tn Does anyone know a link with pictures of the relevant bits of the brain (something like a school text book picture/diagram/ explanation) so when a report says stuff like "lesions are periventricular" one can look at the diagram then the scan and see exactly what and where things are? The bits I don't get are periventricular ( next to the ventricles?) ventricles (where exactly are they?) juxtacortical( I guess that's next to the cortex, but where is the cortex?
Avatar m tn My relative (82 years old man), had a fever of 39 deg C one night and pain in lower right abdomen, and ultrasound showed his intestines at this part to be swollen and infected (the doc suspected appendicitis, but it was not), and he is currently on antibiotics and panadol right now. He told me that he had pain in his mid-abdomen when young too, not continuing, but on and off. And that he is very tired in the time period around his stroke until now. (start 2008) What could be the problem?
Avatar n tn for a week know ive been eating well, sleeping and taking medicine for my diarrea, but the symptoms for the tingling sensation have not stopped The Tingling sensation is in my forearms, upper arms and mostly in the back, i suddenly feel bouts of heat and start sweating in some areas and muscle discomfort in both arms and back, also sometimes followed by headaches.
Avatar n tn Thanks much, i am more clear on how the loss of angle between the nails develop, due to hypoxemia or other defects, the vena cava pumps deoxygenated blood around the body, because of vasodilation as you say, this results in a buildup of deoxygenated blood at the distal portion of the fingers or toes, causing the nails to form a curve. Could i also say that the oxygen diffuse to the warmest parts of the body such as body organs close to the heart because they are in greater demand for oxygen?
Avatar m tn I have pain in the right side of my abdomen, near my belly button, it feels like I need to vomit. However I don't. It also hurts when I deep breathe. I have swelling in the abdomen too and its tender to the touch. Any ideas what this could be?
485259 tn?1519047026 Thanks for the diagram. What I've learned over the last year and a half is that there are little branches from the TN nerve that go to each of the teeth -- that's why a lot of us experience 'toothache' like pain. And the diagram shows that it connects into the nose area -- that's where I had my first electric zap.
Avatar m tn It sounds like you have had all the right tests to re assure you that you don't have anything dangerous. They I read what you are writing above is that you don't have symptoms until you sit down and have time to think. That is often the picture of someone with anxiety and anxiety related chest pain. We don't understand the pathophysiology of why this happens but it is common. The best we can usually say is that you have non cardiac chest pain.
Avatar f tn I've been having chronic pain in the inner, upper corner of my eye socket near the bridge of the nose, no relief with meds. I looked up a nerve diagram and it looks like either the supra-trochlear or the supra-orbital nerve that's causing the pain (or that's the general location anyway). They've been occuring for the past few months and they seem to be getting more frequent and more severe. The pain is alleviated when I apply pressure with my thumb to the area.
Avatar f tn I have been to the doctors for tests for appendicitis when I had severe pain in my lower abdomen. They ran a few tests, try these Raise one leg at a time, keep the other flat, if you get pain in the lower right area you are more likely to have appendicitis. The best test for it is to push down hard on the area of pain, if you get severepain when you let go, that is bad and I recommend you visit your doctor.
Avatar f tn Born with hypospadias not sure how severe I'm 15 and have been concerned for years and have never found anything about it. There is scarring and it looks like it has been stitched together. I can't really describe it so the only way is through a diagram as I think an image is illegal due to my age.
Avatar n tn Both that I did find indicated a fairly high frequency of appendicitis within 18 months of gallbladder removal. Hopefully, they are wrong, I have about 6 months to go.
Avatar m tn Hi, the pain may not be related to colonoscopy. It could be appendicitis. The pain in appendicitis generally starts around the umbilicus and moves to the lower right quadrant of the abdomen. The other symptoms for Appendicitis are fever, nausea, vomiting and malaise. The other causes for pain could be urinary tract infection, pelvic infections, renal colic and sometimes bowel infections. Please discuss this with your doctor am sure he will provide further assistance. Regards.
Avatar m tn They can move, cause pain and again remain in a position for long periods of time. Similarly chronic appendicitis too can behave this way with bouts of pain, localization of infection and inflammation and a symptom free period. Crohn’s disease, diverticulitis, infection in kidney, constipation, and an abscess in rectus abdominis muscle or psoas muscle can all cause lower right abdomen pain. An ultrasound or CT scan of abdomen is definitely required. Hope this helps.
Avatar m tn I know you will say I need checked out and I agree in my brain, but the other part of my brain wants to know if these long pain free periods over the course of 3 or so months without a perforation are typical of appendicitis issues? So, in summary, I am curious about the long course of this and the pain free periods. Thank you.
Avatar n tn As far as I know, the most apparent symptom of appendicitis (inflammation of the appendix) is a dull pain in the stomach on the right side, that moves to severe lower right abdominal pain. http://www.webmd.com/digestive-disorders/digestive-diseases-appendicitis The above website explains different symptoms that could accompany appendicitis.

Avatar n tn Hello, There are many possibilities to your symptoms. The most likely one is appendicitis(inflammation of the appendix).Others are irritable bowel syndrome(irregular bowel movements of constipation and diarrhea along with the pain and nausea are there), Crohn's disease(Crohn's disease most commonly affects the last part of the small intestine, usually located in the right lower abdomen) ,kidney infections, intestinal obstruction, mesenteric occlusion or enteritis.
Avatar n tn When I had appendecitis I woke up in pain with a lot of abdominal pressure and was admitted for surgery that day. It felt like I was really constipated or something (sorry TMI), and was nauseous. It sounds like the pain you are having is more likely related to the pcos. I have had ovarian cysts in the past and it felt a lot like what you are describing. I'm not an expert, just my personal experience.
Avatar n tn s, it might be worth checking out. Normally, the muscles in the wall of the stomach contract in a coordinated way to move food through the stomach into the small intestine. The autonomic nervous system controls this muscular action. Diabetes can damage the autonomic nerves. This is called diabetic autonomic neuropathy. As a result, the stomach loses it's coordinated muscular activity and doesn't empty the stomach properly.
Avatar m tn I took plan B on the last day of my period which was december 25th and starting on the 29th i had soreness in what seems like right above the ovaries, a pain on each side of my abdomen. I also have this pulsating around my belly button and it will shoot down to the right side then give me back pain. I also have headaches and have gotten easily hot and overheated during the night. I know im not pregnant because ive testes and JUST came off my period and it was normal. Could this be my apendix?
Avatar f tn I'm not really sure if I'm in the right place her but I'm becoming concerned. Last night I started having a dull pain on the right side of my abdomen, across from my belly button, it went away today but came back around lunch time. It went away again and now at 2am it has come back. I pressed on my stomach a bit and it send a shooting pain through my belly button area. Its not SUPER painful, just more of a discomfort.
Avatar f tn now i am developing the same pain again after about 20 hours, so i want to ask can it be appendicitis even if ultrasound doesnt show it? one of my friend got operated last month, she was having the same pain but ultrasound didnt show anything even then she got operated n now is fine!
Avatar f tn Im 10 weeks pregnant and got my appendix removed yesterday (saturday) they told me about the risks with the anastesia and baby, but they also told me that if i left it in and it ruptured id lose baby for sure. Anyone else have their appendix removed and had a perfectly healthy baby?
