It was initially thought to be allergies, but the Patanol did not help. Opthamologist then prescribed tobradex, which worked until I came off it. We then moved to longer tobradex usage that tapered over two weeks. Came back again once I came off. Then moved to oral antibiotic for one week and zylet - no results. Now oral antibiotic for two weeks - no results.

It looks like you are allergic to dust and dust mites which is responsible for causing air borne allergies as well swelling and congestion of the eyes.Yes dust can cause such symptoms in eyes.
For now you can take some over the counter antihistaminic like as Cetirizine(zyrtec) or Loratadine(Claritin) to get symptom relief. Short courses of oral cortisone or steroids are taken for short periods (one to three days) to settle more severe symptoms.
I bought a bottle of Patanol eye drops about a month and three weeks ago, I found the box a couple days ago and noticed on the box that it says discard thirty days after opening... The expiry date on the bottle says 01-2011.. Is this bad that I used the eye drops three weeks after it was suppose to be discarded? I only used three quaters of the bottle. I paid a little over fifty dollars for this little 5 mL bottle.... But what can you do....
I would like to find an answer. Treatment for allergies calls for cold compress while rosacea and bleph call for warm. Are lid scrubs effective? I started them and may start seeing results but I am worried about the thin membrane of my eyelid or aggravating it. while this may seem minor to many it is major tome.
I used to party alot and this stopped immediately. I now sleep 8 hour a day and I am willing to do anything to correct this.

The only change I have made in my life style is to take Patanol eye drops for allergy eyes. I have been using them once daily for 4 months. Could it be that this antihistamine can be causing this increase in my blood pressure? I am allergic to the drugs used for controling blood pressure and prior to this successfully lowered my pressure by exercise and diet.It is normal for me to have a reading of 130 over 80. My eyes have been red for like 5 months now. I've been to different doctors and they all thought it was allergies. Then, I did a lab exam, which said I have predominantly neutrophils, rare eosinophils and staphylococcus epidermidis on the eyelids, although the "conclusion'' of the exam said it was allergy, not infection or anything like that.

m a woman (mid-40s) in good health--no regular medications except for Patanol eye drops and Zyrtec for allergies. Prior to this incident, I was told I have some mild scarring (or an "opacity") at the top of my corneas, possibly from years of wearing contact lenses. My significant other has caught pink eye and has had it for approximately two weeks now. In the first few days, he had the typical symptoms: redness in the eyes, a little swelling, some itching. I've had severe red eyes for almost 2 years and today was diagnosed with Superior Limbic Keratoconjunctivitis. This was the first time I'd consulted a doctor/opthamologist in that regard.
The opthamologist prescribed a course of Maxidex to be taken every 2 hours as well as Patanol, which is to be taken twice a day.
I have been having my right eye, the corner near the nose swell up for not reason over night in march. it did this last year in march just once and never happened again. but this march it did it 3 times in 3 weeks time. always over night. i first thought sinus so went to my ENT and he checked it out and said no, not my sinus. if it happened again go to my eye dr. it happened a week later and i went to see my eye dr.
Initially I used Xalatan for 1 year and then my doctor did a small laser procedure to open up the cornea in my eyes to let the fluid out which has kept the eye pressure under 16 or so.
