paxil

Avatar f tn Has anyone else taking Fluoxetine (similar to Prozac) experienced side effects? I have noticed some odd changes in the way my body responds to exercise; specifically, excessive sweating. I'm not sure if the medication is directly linked, but in the past year (I have been taking the drug for about 2.5 years) I break into an all over the body sweat very easily, and it has happened even when I'm not exercising.
Avatar m tn How long have you been taking these medications. There are start up side effects associated with paroxetine that go away once your system is used to the medication. Some doctors will start with 10 mg of paxil/paroxetine and titrate up to 20 after a week or so.
1679320 tn?1306382914 I went to doctors today purely to discuss medication for my anxiety and i didnt like what i heard. He told me side effects are seizures and bleeding (worst possible side effects). is it really worth the risk?
Avatar m tn you can discuss with your doctor about starting only half the starting dose initially to give you some assurance of its side effects. paxil can be sedating so most people take it at night. the top 3 side effects are headahces, nausea and sexual dysfunction. all of these resolve over time as the body becomes accustomed to the new medication.
Avatar f tn It was helpful in treating depression. HOWEVER, it has some very dangerous side-effects, and I had serious withdrawals when I quit. Google it, and you can get a better idea. I tapered and I was barely functioning. There is also a risk of seizures if you get off too quickly. It has also been linked to heart attacks. I currently take Prozac, and it works just as well if not better. I am tapering off, and I don't notice any side effects.
Avatar n tn Oh, okay, Seroxat is another trade name, like Paxil, for paroxitine. The side effects would be pretty much those listed for paroxetine, which for your convenience I will attach below. However, I noted in one of your previous posts that your doctor did not want you to take paroxetine any longer because of the possibilty of its deducing the effectiveness of tamoxifen. Are you no longer taking tamoxifen? Here is the side effect profile: "Paroxetine may cause side effects.
Avatar n tn Combining fluoxetine or paroxetine with phenytoin can also lead to increased phenytoin side effects and reduce blood levels of paroxetine. You really need to discuss the potential drug interactions with your own doctor.
Avatar f tn Try to remember that most antidepressants have some side effects when we first begin taking them and some of those side effects are not always very pleasant, but as our body gets use to them, the side effects almost always disappear or become tolerable. Never hesitate to call your doctor about any and all side effects you are feeling.........
429949 tn?1224691579 I have Meibomaian Gland dysfunction and Blepharitis, both of which I never had until this all started, and guess what, they are on the rare side effects list for Paroxetine too! Just coinsidence? Who knows? Has the Restasis helped with the dry eye? What differences have you noticed so far? I read that it may take up to six months to see the most results. Thank you for responding to this question. It took a lot of the worry about the blured vision off my mind!
Avatar f tn I want to preface this with; I am not a medical professional. Discuss this with your doctors before you do anything. The way neural pain blockers work is by getting into your system and controlling the pain. They keep the synapses from firing in your cells (or slow them down). This keeps the nerves from sending a strong signal to your brain. You can't take them just when you feel bad, you have to keep it in your system.
1326416 tn?1370927001 I have suffered with depression for many years. i have tried every medication under the sun, but when they finally "start working" I can't stand the side-effects (anxiety, shakiness, general feelings of unease, etc.). I'm wondering if anyone else experiences this? It's called non-treatable depression, medication resistant depression, or something like that. All I know is that it's a viscious circle.
Avatar m tn lots of psyc drugs cause nasty side effects and nasty withdrawls. Ive been on zoloft for five years and have liked it because for me it had no side effects. these meds react with people differently. I have GAD and am getting off zoloft bc I need something stronger but it helped with low- moderate anxiety and my depression.
Avatar f tn I was weaned off by dividing the dose in half and using that for 2 weeks then half of that for 2 weeks and then totally off of it. I hated that medication because of all the side effects you have while you are taking that medicine. It has so many side effects to it, it was unbelieveable. After being off that med slowly I finally adjusted well.
429949 tn?1224691579 Has anyone had any problems with the SSRI Paxil. Any visual problems or side effects after starting this medicine?
Avatar m tn So I have been taking Paroxetine(Paxil) for 4 months now and it changed my life, took away my O.C.D. and my social anxiety. But i had side effects so i started taking Bupropion(wellbutrin) So after 1 days dose which was 1 pill twice a day, I had my O.C.D. back about half as bad and my social axiety came back about half as bad. So i stopped taking the Bupropion and i am still taking the Paroxetine but it's not working as well as it did before.
Avatar f tn May try cotalopram again as ive used it before and know that the side effects arent as bad for me
486038 tn?1300063367 t know if I am buying into this idea that it takes this long to get over side effects. Unless, it has done all of this damage to my vision and brain. None of my doctors are willing to put those boots on and say that!! They say it has never been documented in the litature, but then turn right around and talk about the medication and switch of the SSRI's as a possible trigger!!!!
Avatar f tn I started the end of February with 12.5CR and just increased to 25 CR with no side effects and actually feeling much better these days. Of course being a worry wart I researched Paxil online and found a study that suggested Paxil is the worst SSRI to be on and that it is the only one that may increase my breast cancer risk. I was wondering how true these statements are and should I ask my Dr to switch me to another SSRI just in case. I am 55 years old and post menopause.
Avatar f tn Wellbutrin made me horribly agitated all the time. OMG! I hated it! Paxil worked, but I hated the sexual side effects, like most SSRI's. Buspar is a drug approved for anxiety, without the sexual side effects.
Avatar m tn I went down from 40 mg to 20 mg/day over the course of a week and a half with no side effects. But this week has been completely different. After I received these new green pills(Zydus Pharm(?)), I decided I would not take them and enough was enough. But it appears it was a big mistake, even after I performed a web-search to see how best to do it (on my own). I am extremely dizzy and nauseous; to the point of incompacitation. I have not been able to sleep for the past 3 nights.
Avatar f tn Usually with this type of meds it takes a few weeks to notice effects,in the beginning you might have some side effects that will most likely pass. If it works for you you can only find out by trying it as these meds work differently for different people.
Avatar m tn Hi,excuse me that I answered you late I did not see your message in timebut I'll explain:I took 1 year and 2 months my paroxetine doctor stopped me suddenly telling me I'm going to pass in 2 weeks the side effects but it was cheated were disastrous we vomit we shed terrible headache strong God how I resisted I do not know I could not eat I could not sleep I was crying for death She said it to me in March 2017 They continued the side effects until July when I came back to her I would die
Avatar f tn Hi, I am new to this forum. I am not on any medications for MS except anti-depresants. I have terible itching around my eyes and on the MS narcoms it has a question about it. Have any of you experienced this? And what do yo do about it?
Avatar n tn What are the side effects of going off anti depression tablets, waiting to go on new medication? As i feel like im in hell at the moment and its been day 6 without taking any medication... If there is any one out there that is going through the same please contact me..
Avatar f tn Hey Debbie. Welcome to the forum I admire your courage. Are you sure though? make sure that this is safe to do so. The withdrawal symptoms- after 10 years of paxil use- are going to challenge you (and perhaps others!). Would you consider to gradually reduce the dosage, while substituting with a natural supplement formula like Amoryl? From a previous post that I sent recently: Holistic therapy for depression: 1. Energy Psychology Therapy. Efficient and with good results. 2.
12182312 tn?1427683956 My paroxetine is 40mg, and metoprolol is 25mg. Are they safe to take together. Is one an upper, one a downer. I take Paxil in the morning, metoprolol before bed.
190885 tn?1333025891 One of the nasty treatment side effects is insomnia. Paroxetine (Paxil) is also prescribed to help restore the sleep cycle. But it's not successful in everyone. Some people get a bit wired on the drug, and for them it's not appropriate. Others get sleepy and calmed, and for them it can be helpful. In the latter case, it's often prescribed along with a valium analogue for sleep.
