Ondansetron iv

Common Questions and Answers about Ondansetron iv

zofran

Avatar f tn Ondansetron is the generic for Zofran. Why would you refuse it? It's safe to take or your Dr wouldn't prescribe it to you. There's other meds out there if you don't want to take it. My Dr gave me Diclegis. It helped take the edge off the nausea.
Avatar f tn Ondansetron is Zofran hun. Its just the generic name for zofran. Even though theres a lawsuit, id say its more of a money maker. I took it both pregnancies and my babies came out fine. Youve got to look at whether the benefits outweigh the risk with ANY medication. If youre miserable and need to eat for baby, take it. My advice is try to only take it when u really need it, not on a regular basis. Stop as soon as symptoms ease up. Lots of water too.

Avatar f tn E has had some progressive muscle wasting in his back legs but still was able to walk a mile a day. 5 days ago he starting vomiting everything he ate, we changed to ondansetron for naseau. He is now unable to walk but eating and drinking. We are carrying him out to use the bathroom. Are IV fluids an option at this point or should we not make him suffer?
Avatar f tn I am not happy with taking drugs while pregnant but I have lost a extrem amount of weight and it has been stressed to me medication and iv fluids are absolutely necessary. So have been taking Ondansetron (Zofran) and another prochlorperazine. I am very scared of what I have heard about these two drugs and my huge question is what medications do you pregnant women out there trust???
Avatar m tn I agree, get some Zofran/Ondansetron. It works wonders. This is why they give to cancer chemotherapy, radiation therapy and surgery patients. It is in a class of medications called 5-HT3 receptor antagonists and works by blocking the action of serotonin, a natural substance that may cause nausea and vomiting. I just got a bottle of 30 Ondansetron on Medicare for $5. There are also other similar meds you can take so you should find a solution and not have to deal with what you have been.
1047522 tn?1258145704 d be happy to add them for you. Which anti-nausea medications are you taking? It sounds like you want to track IV fluids as well? Just let us know what you want added, and we'll do our best.
Avatar f tn Ondansetron has been assigned to pregnancy category B by the FDA. Animal studies failed to reveal evidence of fetal damage. There are no controlled data in human pregnancy. Case reports have described two women who have received ondansetron during pregnancy for life-threatening hyperemesis gravidarum. No abnormalities were noted in the offspring of these two women. Ondansetron is only recommended for use during pregnancy when benefit outweighs risk.
Avatar f tn Zofran/Ondansetron is also used in pregnancy. I felt safe using this during pregnancy as I have known more women who have used it without any problems. it's a newer drug and works very well without the sedating side effects that promethazine can have. Here is the FDA information too. Ondansetron has been assigned to pregnancy category B by the FDA. Animal studies failed to reveal evidence of fetal damage. There are no controlled data in human pregnancy.
862235 tn?1336060295 Come Sunday she was in sad shape again and I took her to the hospital. They gave her an IV of saline and Ondansetron and sent her home. Monday she was feeling no nausea but was barely able to walk because of the inner ear disorder and the associated vertigo. She's not taken any TX meds since Friday and not done her Friday IF injection. She's off the TX. Her liver is in early stage 2 fibrosis and the hepatologist said she could wait for another TX that might be easier to tolerate.
Avatar f tn I went to the er and got ondansetron (generic for zofran) but the doc prescribed it bc I literally kept nothing but one icee a day down. I got a script for 12 and thats it. All I know is they do not prescribe it to one indivodual in large quantities and that bc it can affect and stay in your blood for so long they have to monitor how much an individual gets.
Avatar f tn I was put on 50 mg of zoloft a month ago and have had nausea ever since. It seems like it's been getting worse over the last couple of weeks. Yesterday I was prescribed Ondansetron ODT 4mg. It doesn't seem to help. Will the nausea go away?
Avatar f tn Hello ladies, To keep it short on my second pregnancy Hyperemesis sufferer, ended up in hospital on drip and IV fluids after trying four of the main anti sickness perscriptions. I had cyclicine yesterday by IV and basically it felt like hell, shook all over, blurred vision, sickness increased and felt so anxious thought my heart was going to pop out of my chest. My bloods for organ function were fine thankfully so Ive been put on ondansetron and discharged.

Avatar f tn My doctor gave me ondansetron, it saved my life lol! I'm 17 weeks pregnant and I still throw up on the daily but its not as bad as a few weeks ago. The ondansetron has a grape flavor but it does make me gag, what I do is place it under my tongue and then swish with a huge gulp of ice cold water. I noticed that my nausea was worse when I was super hungry but I would be so hungry that I couldn't keep anything down- frustrating!
Avatar f tn Hi am in my 13th week and is having bad nausea my doctor gave me this Ondansetron tables which helped a lot but am concerned about taking it. Any suggestions on should I take this medicine as it help me to work??
Avatar f tn I was on it for 4 days before that specific one stopped working and I ended up in the hospital again.. I'm 19 weeks today and had to take diclectin, ranitadine, and ondansetron up until 16 weeks regularly now it's just if i get stressed.
Avatar f tn For most people Zofran can be given by IV in the hospital or orally anytime and it works very effectively. For myself, Zofran has no effect on my nausea. Oral Compazine does work for my nausea so I take it every six hours to help me manage my nausea. There are a number of other drug also options available for nausea which I am sure they are trying. A feeding tub won't necessarily make a difference with the nausea. It all depends on what is trigger the nausea.
Avatar f tn I ate really small meals...
