Avatar f tn My shitzu dog is 7 years old and has kidney stones and allergies. He also has high cholesterol(Cushings' disease suspected). He weighs about 10 lbs. Is it safe for me to give him omega 3 capsules and what should be the dosage? Thank you, Mrs.
1543111 tn?1293314661 Okay I started taking Omega 3 about a week ago for rheumatoid arthritis after seeing how great it worked for my dog's arthritis. And NO I will not take those RA pills for RA with 'death' as the side effects. When I first take Omega 3 I feel misrable and its a little hard to breath for a while. Now I have every day a constant abdominal pain and my tongue burns. But I am caught between do I want the arthritis pain all over my body or this abdominal pain?

Avatar f tn Benefits of Fish Oil Even if you don’t suffer from infertility, high-dose fish oil is the most important supplement you can take during pregnancy for several reasons, but most importantly for the development of the child’s brain. Long-chain Omega-3 fatty acids are critical for fetal brain development to provide your child the best possible mental advantage coming into this world.
Avatar n tn s version) but the dosage for ResQ1250 is 4-6 capsules per day for a capsule that has a much higher concentration of EPA and DHA?
Avatar f tn While the above spices in supplement form can be useful, in powder form they may or may not have any value left. Depends on how old they were and how they were prepared. Culinary spices are often irradiated and often quite old. Better to take them in supplement form from a reliable company. As to what to eat, foods high in antioxidants, such as vegetables, are very important, but as stated above, we know more about what to avoid than what to eat. Mentioned above was to avoid oil.
Avatar f tn I am looking for natural arthritis remedies for a 10 year old chihuahua. I read somewhere that blackstrap molasses works wonders for arthritis pain in dogs. I also heard of extra virgin coconut oil and apple cider vinegar. I am really tempted to mix all these and give it a try. Has anyone tried these? or are there any other natural remedies? My dog has been on metacam but it doesn't work very well, I can tell she is still in pain.
518994 tn?1212242047 I read where Omega 3 was good for your dog. Is it a different Omega 3 or is it the same that humans take?
Avatar f tn you know, I haven't been taking the Omega 3 since I got pregnant - they make me nauseous. I just take my prenatals daily. I try to eat healthy(doesn't always happen) but i do try. I didnt take any Omega 3 with my other kids and their fine, so oh well.
1507801 tn?1289853453 My 2 year old Siberian husky was jut Dx with hip dysplasia and arthritis his specialist vet (a ortho vet) said salmon fish oil is the best and to make sure the salmon oil is 150-200 epa (eicopenteric acid) this is the omega 3 of the fish oil. He also said that a supplement call Dasuquin-MSM make sure it says MSM you can get it online( he said for small breed even though he is 50lbs.).
1655526 tn?1330655629 I know that omega 3 is really supposed to be good for the heart, but I get palps after I take them for 3 days, especially krill oil. I've read in this forum that others have also had adverse reactions to taking this supplement. So I wanted to put this poll out to see how omega 3 affects you. The first time I suspected krill oil, which is supposed to be the best omega 3, I used the process of elimination. Still not believing it I did it a second and third time.
Avatar m tn Oh! I forgot, you would not burp the fish oil if you take the pill each time you eat something or after every meal, I have never had a problem with it.
Avatar m tn I took an Omega-3 supplement for the first time before going to bed last night, and when I woke up one eye was very swollen and puffy. The only allergies I have had are seasonal. Could I be allergic to the Omega-3 supplement?
1388999 tn?1370042814 From what I can tell, one level scoop of powder would probably be the equivalent to slightly more than the cosaquin for dog dosage of 3 tablets for 50-100lb dogs. You may want to try adding MSM, its a natural anti-inflammatory and pain reliever. You can give capsules, powder or there are a variety of treats on the market containing it as well. I take it and so does my 13yr old Pumpkin.
Avatar f tn Does anyone know if I can just take an omega-3 supplement, or should I eat all the foods this app is telling to to get it. I'm not much of a fish eater.
Avatar m tn Most everyone knows or has heard about omega-3. The omega that many haven't heard about but that is very important to your health is omega-6. While omega-6 isn't bad in and of itself, what's bad about omega-6 is that Americans get too much of it. Having too much omega-6 and not enough omega-3 in your diet leads to many diseases. To avoid these diseases, you must keep these two very important essential fatty acids in balance or the right ratio.
Avatar n tn He sent me for an X-Ray which showed early arthritis changes. He sent for a course of Physiotherapy which I attended for 6months. In the end I stopped going because after the initial mild improvement in pain there was no further improvement. I am taking 1500mg Glucosamine Sulphate + 1200mg Marine Chondroitin + 1000mg Omega 3 fish oil daily. Despite this the symptoms have now spread to my right hip, right shoulder and slight symptoms in my right knee.
Avatar f tn Thanks for sharing that info. I've had arrythmias for many years, but have never heard the correlation between SCD and Omega-3's. I'm thinking that's because I don't have a "bad" arrythmia. Whew!
29837 tn?1414534648 In addition to their usual medication, the first group (G1) received placebo (soy oil), the second group (G2) received fish oil omega-3 fatty acids (3 g/d), and the third group (G3) received fish oil omega-3 fatty acids (3 g/d) and 9.6 mL of olive oil. Avatar f tn I have severe arthritis like pain in my joints, but have been tested for just about everything. I have depression, but have never had any joint pain from it this severe until now.....does anyone know if this is normal? Thank you.
441382 tn?1452810569 So I hunted round to find a capsule which ONLY contained Glucosamine/Chondroitin, and no other additives. Then I calculated the dosage for her of both. She weighs 28 lbs approx. Her dosage is (max.) 500mg. Glucosamine, and 200 Chondroitin.
