Avatar n tn The tricyclic antidepressant doxepin has also been found to be an effective blocker of histamine release. Finally, a medication called ketotifen, which keeps mast cells from releasing histamine, has also been used with success. ref:http://www.healthatoz.com/healthatoz/Atoz/common/standard/transform.jsp?requestURI=/healthatoz/Atoz/ency/physical_allergy.jsp ref:http://dermatology.about.com/cs/hives/a/coldurt.
Avatar m tn from Betamethasone to Dermovate, along with pills ranging from Atarax to Ranitidine which I take along Ketotifen. I am worried that this thing will be fungus or an STD as none of the treatments I have been given seem to work. The dermatologist I have seen told me that it could be bug bites, but that was not the case... I was told it could be urticaria... but why is it lasting so long... and why is it only on my buttocks and inner thighs? I need help please.
4319578 tn?1352739861 I am facing allergy in chest skin, neck with rashes and my eyes get red when I attacked by the Allergy. Over the counter drugs like citrizine, ketotifen helps me very little. Should I go for allergy test or Eosinophil count? Would you please recommend.
Avatar f tn It’s good that she is responding well to antihistamines. Other drugs like Ketotifen and Leukotriene inhibitors are also effective adjuvant. The occurrence of urticaria and future recurrences cannot be predicted. There is uncertainty in the disappearance of the urticaria. Some studies stated that if urticaria stays for more than 6 months there are 40% chances that it may persist for period of 10 years. In some cases it can disappear in a short period.
Avatar n tn I had an ocular exam last Friday- eyes were dilated with tropicamide and proparacaine. Prior to this I have not had any vision problems, never worn glasses or contacts. This visit I was concerned with some minor blurriness at night and the optometrist said I needed glasses just for driving/distance vision (OD-0.25, )S-0.5).
Avatar m tn It seems Ketotifen gave good results! Two times a day for one pill.
Avatar m tn The only thing that has stuck out was visiting an allergist and finding out I am severely allergic to dust mites (which prompted my doctor giving me ivermectin), oak, and mold. Using olopatadine has mixed results. When my eyes were red before surgery, I would take Pazeo and my eyes would turn 100% white. Other times I would take it, it would have no effect or cause increased redness. I am at a loss here.
Avatar m tn Medical therapy consists of starting oral H1 antihistamines on daily basis or when the reaction can be anticipated. Other drugs like ketotifen, danazol and omalizumab against prescription can be tried if anti histamines are ineffective. I suggest you to consult allergy specialist. Take care and regards.
Avatar m tn I was prescribed some Olopatadine drops for the allergy and some additional lubricant tear drops. It is interesting because ever since I moved to Kentucky in the last 2 years I developed dry eyes, and I never had it before in my life..so I am curious to what may have caused it.
1064552 tn?1322579758 org/conditions-and-treatments/related-conditions/eosinophilic-esophagitis The treatment is sodium cromylon oral liquid or compounded, use in a nebulizer ( nasalcrom has a dangerous inactive ingredient) and ketotifen compounded ( make sure that you get a safe filler like rice powder and a clear capsule (gelatin may be safe or vegitable, try testing in advance) not bright pink.). Look up Dr Afrin. I am disappointed Xolair didn't work for you. What alergic reaction did you haveto Xolair?
Avatar m tn I accidentally had sunlight reflected directly into my eyes from the screen of my phone in the middle of the afternoon. It was several seconds before I came to realization and changed the angle of the screen. While I haven't really had any trouble seeing since then I have had a large quantity of floaters appear in my vision on both eyes. I had my regular optometrist do a dilated eye exam about a week later due to the floaters but forgot to mention the sunlight incident.
