I just looked up Nuvaring and it looks like chest pain and numbness on one side of the body are side effects. http://www.medhelp.org/drugs/NuvaRing/show/3399 I don't know if you would typically experience these symptoms so quickly though.

I put the new ring in on May 22 and I feel like I may be having some increased side effects since then. The first few weeks I was on it I had a lot of cramping that felt like menstrual cramps, but for the past couple of weeks I've had a lot of nausea. I work at a grocery store and one day I had to run to the back because I thought I was going to throw up; I didn't and I was fine the next day.

Its very slowly transitioning from medium to light to very-light flow, with less normal discharge than I'm used to in the last day or two of my period. I also have constant cramps. Not enough to stop me from living but a constant pelvic ache.

I had the implanon implant (now nexplanon) and it made me gain 30 pounds and then I found out I was very much allergic to it. If the Nuva ring gave you any nasty side effects, don't go for the nexplanon, it's the same thing, different method. I have the paragard (copper) iud now and have had it two weeks. So far I'm really liking it. I've had several friends with it and they've loved it.

The cramps could be because of the Nuvaring. Remember that you're putting a foreign object in to your body so your body could react to that by cramping. Since it's so close to your period the cramps might be because you're getting ready to start. I recommend you see your gynecologist to tell him/her what happened. They might want to do a blood test to see if you're pregnant. Blood tests can detect very early pregnancies.

After having nuvaring in for almost three weeks i started to bleed lite not spotting and its dark and not a pleasant smell at all never have had an Oder like that in 46 years and i cant stand it.Also I had very painful cramps only on left side. I was told not to leave nuvaring out for week that I should replace with new one as soon as other one was removed, so i did and i had severe cramping and kept bleeding the dark smelly blood again not spotting lite bleeding.

I remember having bleeding in the hospital a week early even though the ring was still in.

I have a mild latex allergy so I thought I would try something else since I was using protection when Jaxson was conceived, but I cant deal with all these crazy side effects.. I am going to call my Dr. tomorrow, in the meantime, I am going to try and stick out the nuva ring for this month, it may just be my body adjusting??

You need to look at the full potential for side effects as well as potential complications that can be caused by BC. (For example Depo can cause bone loss) Any hormonal BC can cause weight gain, among several other side effects. The only BC that doesn't is Paragard because its nonhormonal.

I took nuvaring and didn't experience side effects until about 7months in. I woke up with a streak of light in the vision of my right eye. I knew right away it was the ring. So I took it out immediately, the light went away after 3days. Then, 2wks after stopping the ring, more trouble arose. I woke up in the middle of the night with a terrible pain in the inner elbow of my left arm, and had pain and tingling and numbness in my left lower leg and hand as well.

I was on the pill for years and came off of it to get an IUD which I got taken out after 8 months and started the Nuvaring. Coming off of the pill I LOST weight and felt better than ever... almost complete opposite...

I've been looking into an IUD, never had the patch personally (was afraid it'd fall off or something) but I know I wouldn't recommend the implanon/nexplanon implant or Nuvaring, the implant causes crazy side effects and Nuvaring doesn't stay in for anything!

No worries about taking a pill at the same time everyday and I also found that I have no side effects from it as I have bad side effects from all the other pill forms if birtcontol. For me it has been the best. Everyone is different though.

I heard pretty good things about that, my ex gf was also on nuvaring and had little to none side effects.

Thank you for your response! Yeah, I don't want to get pregnant at all. But lately I've been having pains in my chest and in one of my legs. I don't know if it's related to the NuvaRing but some of the side-effects are scary. Like blood clots and heart attacks. I just don't want to be a victim to those. But it seems like all birth controls have some sort of risk involved in them. That's why I was looking at paragard since it's a hormone-free method.

That's about how long I was on it too. I took mine out around June of last year and conceived in September, so it doesn't take long. That's the bonus of nuvaring, it's supposed to have little to no side effects when you take it out. I ended up miscarrying that conception at about 6 weeks, and haven't had luck yet since then, but at least I know I am indeed ovulating since I got pregnant once!

Has anyone had a Paragard IUD? Did you have any of these symptoms? I got mine inserted 3 weeks ago. I've never had a baby, and am 21 years old. The pain was pretty intense but short when I got it inserted. There didn't appear to be complications as it was pretty quick (less than 5 min). I felt weak for a few days afterwards.

The main site says that common side effects are mood swings, including depression. I do have a history of being emotionally unstable. However, I have lived a very positive and encouraging lifestyle over the last 4 or 5 years. I'm really hoping that this is all caused from the ring, that way it's as easy as removing it but I don't want to use this as an excuse. I just started NuvaRing on the 5th day after my period ended (December 30th). I know that you must use a back-up method for a minimum of 7 days. My fiance and I had unprotected sex on December 31st and again on January 1st. I read that it would be too soon for me to be ovulating (January 5th through the 10th is what I researched through an ovluation calendar).I have had cramping in my left side, but I believe that it is absolutely too early to have any signs of pregnancy.

There is the implant, which gets implanted under your skin and diffuses the hormones to you all the time. Then, there's the patch, which you put on your skin (I'm not entirely certain if it's daily, weekly, or what, but your doctor would tell you.) so it diffuses the hormones as well.
