Avatar f tn I just got out of the hospital after an episode of severe chest pains, dizziness, and pain down my arms and into my neck. I had a series of tests. several ekg's x-rays, an echo, a treadmill stress test, and an angio. the stress test was abnormal. the ekgs are showing PVC's, and the angio was normal. the cardiologist is thinking that it is the endothelials that are causing the pain. they put me o n 5 mg of norvasc, and zocor because they found my ldl's were 180.
Avatar n tn I tried taking Cardizem and had to stop. I had been given Cardizem instead of Norvasc for heart spasms. It was the long lasting Cardizem. I suffered through 12 hours of awful chest pains. I went back to the Norvasc. It just works better for me.
Avatar f tn I have consulted several MDs, who are good friends of mine, and got different views on the possibilities of adding a Calcium Channel Blocker, e.g. Norvasc, to the Beta Blocker (Tenormin) that I'm taking right now. One suggested adding 2.5 mg Norvasc to the 100 mg Tenormin; another thought it would be a good idea to reduce the tenormin to 50 mg and take 5 mg of Norvasc; and the third, suggested to gradually replace the tenormin by 5 mg Norvasc, and to be increased if needed, to 10 mg.
Avatar n tn % and the 2 blockages in the LAD not stented at the original heart cath? What is the best course of action for these 3 positively identified coronary artery blockages?
Avatar f tn It was decided to add Norvasc 5mg INSTEAD of Nifedipine, since Norvasc was used/tolerated well in the past. Began taking Norvasc 5mg along with Lorsartan 100mg and Atenolol 25mg (all 1x daily) approximately 3 days ago, and the blood pressure is still running extremely high. This morning reading was 186/85 and tonight 176/110!!! Worried that this can be dangerous. What should be done? How long until the BP goes to a "normal" range? Does the doctor need to increase the Norvasc dosage?
Avatar f tn I'm a 64 yrs. old woman who used to take Diovan 320 mg. & Toprol 50 mg. for my B.P. My B.P. readings was okay but my Doctor discontinued the Toprol because my heart rate usually on the 40's. I am currently taking Norvasc 5mg. with the Diovan 320 mg. So far, my B.P. readings is very good, 110/70. But eversince I started the Norvasc, my left leg is swelling and it is becoming worst. I'd like to ask my Doctor to discontinue the Norvasc.
Avatar f tn Norvasc 10 mg 1 x day was prescribed to take instead of Clonidine .1mg 2 x day. However, the Norvasc is not working after 12 hrs. My B/P is 150/113 12 hrs after taking the norvasc. Can I take a clonidine .1 mg along with the norvasc?
421354 tn?1203567224 I have a friend, her mother is an insulin dependent since 2002. She's taking norvasc too. During office hours, her mom would stay at home alone while my friend is at work. Lately her mom's behavior changed. Sometimes, in the middle of the night her mom would wake up and murmur some stuff. Worst now, her mom is somewhat hallucinating, sometimes she's violent and make up some stories. is her mom suffering from depression? What is the best way to help her mom recover?
Avatar f tn Edema is a common side effect of the Norvasc and a low dose thiazide diuretic will take care of the swelling and also help the BP.
2095551 tn?1333122531 Is there any other drug out there that will work the same way to open up small blood vessels like Norvasc but wont have the "bad swelling of legs and feet?" Anyone, please me know know, looking forward to hearing from you...
Avatar f tn My concern is that I had retinal detachment surgery in March of 2008 and have not had any pain until I started taking Norvasc 5mg. daily. Is this a side effect that is normal and will it subside or is it a reason to discontinue this drug?
Avatar m tn Norvasc has a lot of side effects. Do you know what your at home BP was usually before you started taking it?
Avatar n tn m also taking Norvasc. Should these medications be taken together? The Norvasc was prescribed a number of years ago by a different doctor for Migraine prevention. It hasn't helped my migraines but I've continued to take it. Since they are both blood pressure meds, I'm doubtful I should take both.
Avatar f tn They may claim to do the same things, however the standards in manufacturing the medications are not the same from laboratory to laboratory and there is no way to know if you are getting exactly the same dose of medication in the Lotrel as you did in the Norvasc since they are manufactured by two different manufacturers. The very same issue is seen with Synthroid and Levothyroxine. In fact, my sister was told by an endocrinologist at Mayo, "Never use Levothryoxine.
Avatar m tn m interested in hearing from anybody who has had similar symptoms, or a similar course of action before getting a diagnosis. I have never really heard of tinnitis or vertigo being symptoms of MS, and those are the main reasons I even started pursuing medical help to begin with. The doctors have ruled out some explanations (like the acoustic neuroma), but there are still other possibilities on the table (Meniere's disease, or even high blood pressure for example).
Avatar n tn I suffered with angina for several years. Recently, I had angina that would wake me out of a dead sleep. It was diagnosed as vasospasms. I was put on Norvasc a month ago. I haven't has any angina, stable or variant. Norvasc works great for me. I have some swelling and slight dizziness with the Novasc, but the benefits far out weigh the side effects.
Avatar n tn It kind of sounds like a form of Action tremors, but I have to agree with mkh9.
572651 tn?1530999357 Several sites list incontinence as a primary side effect of Norvasc for women. These sites though are more anecdotal and not fact based. I'm looking for the smoking gun and want to know if any of you out there have this same problem? In the meantime I will be talking to my urogynecologist and cardiologist and trying to see what they say. The simple test will be go off the Norvasc and see if my symptoms improve.
Avatar n tn Individuals with coronary spastic angina have abnormal responses to constrictive and/or dilative stimuli as a rsult of a localized or diffuse disorder of the coronary artery complex.. I assume the diagnosis of hyperreactive responses not only to the constrictor effects of acetylcholine, but also the dilator effects of nitroglycerin were detected diffusely in the epicardial coronary arteries of patients with coronary spastic angina.
Avatar m tn I've been on 50mg of Atenolol for years, and it's done the job well enough. In the past six-eight months or so, I've noticed that my blood pressure has been having a hard time getting under 140/80. It gets under, but it doesn't stay there for very long. When I told my cardiologist, he said we should try to up my Atenolol. I declined to do so because Atenolol gives me brachycardia to the point where my pulse can be as low as the high 40s when I'm sleeping.
Avatar n tn Agree if it were thyroid I would probably have other symptoms One of the things that really scared me is the comment from the ED doc he is admitting me because of changes in the anterior leads. I did not see any of my hospital EKGs, and am not an expert by any means, just the basics, but the "widow maker" is an anterior MI. I do have a copy of the EKG from my PCPs office with flipped t waves in V2, V3, V4.
Avatar m tn Interesting Link - I too have the onset of high BP - partially drinking related I'm sure. I've been taking Norvasc (generic) as a cacium inhibitor. I keyed this drug in to the website and found many bad reviews. I don't know what to say - I don't think this website would give a good review on ANY drug. I know it is an unbiased site, but I figure most of the people who are on that site are people who are negative about the drug already.
Avatar m tn The onset of action ranges from 45 minutes - 1 ½ hours, and the duration of action is six hours. Diazepam carries a bi-phasic half-life of 20-50 hours (for Diazepam), and 30-200 hours (for Desmethyldiazepam). Valium is indicated for the long-term management of generalized anxiety and tension-anxiety. Tolerance will not develop to the anxiolytic property of Diazepam, although tolerance will develop to the sedative/hypnotic property.
Avatar m tn A partial µ-opioid receptor agonist, its mixed agonist/antagonist activity affords it a lower risk of dependence and abuse than full µ agonists like morphine. Meptazinol exhibits not only a short onset of action, but also a shorter duration of action relative to other opioids such as morphine, pentazocine, or buprenorphine.
