Avatar n tn It is possible that Plan B is going to cause another period--because as Wonder4 notes above, it contains progestins. And the symptoms you are experiencing could be PMS--again. We often use progestins to induce a period when a woman has missed hers. It is very common for Plan B to cause irregular bleeding, even into the next cycle. If you have any doubts or worries, take a pregnancy test, but it sounds like you should be OK. Good luck!
1187113 tn?1320691496 If you knew for sure you had not ovulated and become very early pregnant, then inducing a menses would not be necessary. The reason most doctors give you progestins or progesterone to induce a menses is to make sure you have not recently ovulated or become pregnant. If you just ovulated, the progestins will usually not induce a menses until 14 days after ovulation.

Avatar f tn Every single birth control that contains high androgen index progestins can cause hair loss. Stop telling women Plan B and birth control pills don’t cause hair loss. They do. The more doctors that understand this - the less of a problem women will have as they can make an informed choice. Please do your research. A simple search on any big BCP air IUD containing high androgen index progestins will show you this. Mirena, Plan B, Loestrin and many more.

Avatar f tn No need to freak out though because endometrial (uterine) cancer is rare and if its precursor (hyperplasia) is found, hormonal medication (progestins) are usually effective at curing it. And even if it is not present, medication can be given to shed the lining so you don't get hyperplasia. I hope this helps! What did your doctor say?

So if Lupron is not helping then you can discuss the option of endoemtriosis with your gynecologist. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. Avatar f tn These medications include GnRH analogs, oral contraceptive pills, and progestins. Surgery is the preferred treatment in situations with anatomic distortion of the pelvic organs or obstruction of the bowel or urinary tract. Endometriosis is often associated with infertility. The exact treatment of your condition can be suggested only after examining you. This is merely an advice and not a substitute for clinical examination. For more details and queries consult your gynecologist.

There are so many that are very closed-minded, and refuse to even consider alternatives to HRT or other prescription meds. Please keep us updated! SassyLassie: You are so right about taking progestins to "oppose" any estrogens that we are taking - especially for those of us who haven't had a hysterectomy.

Avatar f tn Then they noticed that cases of endometrial cancer among Premarin users were going through the roof - the Premarin was causing endometrial hyperplasia, which was placing these women at high risk of endometrial cancer. It was then that they developed Prempro, which adds progestins to the mix, and supposedly reduces these risks.
1229507 tn?1294022730 Any of the contraceptives involving estrogen are very likely to make the auto-immune conditions worse, so sticking with a method that contains progestins only would be ideal.Although my niece tried Depo immediately following pregnancy and had bleeding problems, I believe that was due to giving it to her while the hormones were still all over the map from pregnancy. So if your daughter did try Depo I would say wait about 6 weeks after the birth to give hormones time to balance back out.
Avatar f tn Plan B is a high dose of levonorgestrel, which is one of the synthetic progestins available in birth control pills. The "period" you get on the pill is actually bleeding caused by the withdrawal of the hormones during the inactive pill week, and not a true period you would get if you were ovulating normally. Plan B is known to cause menstrual irregularities after taking it, and my guess is that you're having withdrawal bleeding after that dose of hormones. Keep using condoms.

Avatar n tn In my connections with other women on HRT, it seems bleeding is more apt to happen when they take micronized progesterone (e.g. Prometrium) versus one of the progestins. In this case, it may be better to "cycle" HRT versus taking it continuously. That would entail stopping the progesterone or progestin every so often (monthly , quarterly) which would force a bleed and keep your lining thinned out.
Avatar f tn Hi, If you have taken letroz and after that missed your periods then you need to check for a pregnancy. If the pregnancy test is negative then progestins can be taken to get a withdrawal bleed. It would be better to consult your Doctor rather than doing this on your own. Hope this helps.
