572651 tn?1530999357 I have nitroquik - sublingual nitroglycerin - to take if I have angina pains - this morning about 5 am I was miserable and couldn't tell if it was heart or ms symptoms and I took one. As always it stopped my discomfort, depressed my already low blood pressure and I went to sleep for about 3 hours. I've used nitroquik for the past 3 months or so and it always stops the pain and gives me relief within minutes.
Avatar f tn I forgot to take off my nitroi patch last night What should I do This discussion is related to Nitro Patch.
Avatar n tn I was diagnose with clogged arteries over a year ago. I even had a stent put in because one of my arteries was ecluded. I still had stable angina every time I did some for of cardio activity or is I ate something with sodium. I started using Nitroglycerin patches and even have the pills just in case my angina episode occurs. I had a date and I read online that you can't take viagra and any nitrates cause it can drop your blood pressure really low.
1098952 tn?1270309713 If a person with HCM were to take nitroglycerin, the symptoms would worsen and the nitroglycerin could even cause a catastrophic deterioration in the person's condition".
Avatar m tn I only take isosorbide prior to a workout, and nitro when engaged in an activity that brings on angina. I understand your doctors are suggesting taking isosorbide daily as aschemia does not always produce angina even though the heart cells are not getting sufficient blood supply. This can lead to a silent heart attack so the medication is recommended continuously whether there is angina or not and older people in general are likely to have a silent heart attack.
Avatar f tn i have to take blood pressure medication daily - i take at least three different types. i take atenolol (100 mg) and norvasc ( 5 mg) in the morning and clonodine (.4 mg) three times daily. my doctors have told me that if my bottom number reaches 100 to go to er, i also have nitroglycerin to take when my heart feels "funky". you start out with 1 pill; wait 5 minutes, if not better then take another one; wait 5 minutes take another one and call 911. hope this helps.
Avatar n tn I have been on the nitro-dur patch since Friday and forgot to take it yesterday. I woke up this morning and now my bp is 185/110. Can withdrawal of the nitro patch cause high blood pressure, even though I've only been taking it for three days now?
Avatar m tn The pain lasts anywhere from a few minutes to several hours. I have been prescribed nitroglycerin to take as needed for chest pain and this medicine surely helps. I've had several EKGs and cardiac enzymes done which were all normal. I also had a threadmill/stress test done which was normal. My cardiologist thinks the the probability of me having an occluded/blocked coronary artery is very low.
Avatar m tn I'm a Raynaud's Phenomen patients who has the CREST syndrome and i use the nitroglycerin patches to control my raynaud's. Can you tell me if the patches used in this way would cause your acid reflux to be worse. When i took the lowest dose of nitroglycerin patches 0.1 didn't notice any but had to move up and now i do. Will this be something that my body may take an adjustment period for before i notice a different of not having symptoms again?
Avatar n tn The sublingual nitroglycerin seems to work to relieve the pain/pressure when it occurs but I am still conerned over the shortness of breath and fatigue along with a low temperature..95 and widely varying resting heart rate... 46 to 78 and widely variable resting blood pressure 148/98 to 102/70 thirty minutes later. What further testing, if any, would you suggest?
Avatar f tn I have been in and out of the hospital and doctors offices for the past month. The first week I had bronchitis. After that cleared, I began having chest pain and shortness of breath. Everyone dismissed my symptoms because I was a young female. I had a hysterectomy in 2009 but they said I still had estrigen to help prevent heart problems. After three weeks of testing (lung vq scan, GERD, and anxiety), a heart cath was done.
Avatar m tn i'm new to this forum but i do have CREST SYNDROME which i have the raynaud's mainly in my hands. I have tried all kinds of blood pressure pills and when i move up on dose to help it causes more raynauds. I finally was put on nitroglycerin patches and had to be moved up once and now i'm adding ginko to my dose and i have finally saw a change. Not a perfect fix yet but much better. I also take fish oil twice a day for the inflamation.
Avatar n tn My 54 year old "healthy" husband received a stent yesterday due to a 99% LAD blockage! He is the typical type A personality and this only adds to his already stress overload. I realize we are lucky he is still here and thankful for medical technology. I am just concerned that this will forever be a constant worry for him. Any suggestions of how I can help him. Also I asked his MD about having nitroglycerin to have on hand and he said that this wasn't necessary???
Avatar f tn it was not caused by a blockage but by vaso-spasms related to unstable angina and I was placed on medications to try to manage this. (As per the Hospital Cardiologist after a heart cath) One of the meds I was given was sublingual nitroglycerin and I have had to use it many times so far (I only use it when the chest pains last longer than 20-30 minutes or get really bad).
Avatar n tn Take sitz bath twice a day especially after bm so you can relax your sphincter help promote blood flow so it can heal.Your going to need to go on a high fiber diet and you need to get about 30 grams of fiber per day.If you don't see any improvement in 2 weeks you may need to find yourself a good Colon Rectal Rurgeon.

Avatar m tn Tolerance occurs when a medicine loses its effectiveness and may not seem to work as well. A doctor may prescribe a daily schedule of using nitroglycerin 12 to 18 hours on and 6 to 12 hours off to prevent the development of tolerance.
Avatar n tn If it ONLY has #3 on one side and nothing on the other, white and round, according to drugs.com, it is Nitroglycerin .3mg - however, it would be best to double check with your pharmacist - they'd be able to tell you for sure what it is.
Avatar n tn Have had stent in major heart artery. Nitroglycerine immediately stops pain...not similar to pain before stent inserted. Former pain was in chest, jaw, and arm. Is this heart related or spine ? Usually occurs at night, wakes me up. Very infrequent.
Avatar m tn Since last few days I am observing that when I get up in the morning my tongue is coated white. I clean the tongue with a tooth brush and the white coating disappears and the tongue remains in natural pink colour throughout the day. Secondly, there is a small crack in the middle forefront of the tongue. My age is 81 years. I am not diabetic and my blood pressure is normal.
Avatar f tn I've never heard of nitroglycerin being used to treat migraine, but glad that it worked. But if it keeps on, and sorry to tell you this, but you probably should see a doctor ASAP. It could be the sign of a coming stroke, since it is sudden and very painful. I started with a sudden very different migraine than any I had ever had before. It turned out that within 3 weeks, longer than usual as a gap in time, I had a full carotid artery dissection stroke.
Avatar n tn The goal of treatment is to control chest pain and to prevent heart attack. The pain is relieved by a medicine called nitroglycerin (dilates coronary vessels). You have been prescribed norvasc and that should relieve any chest pains. Norvasc is in a group of drugs called calcium channel blockers. It dilates blood vessels and slows the heart to reduce blood pressure and the pain of angina. Calcium channel blockers may be needed long term. Medications may also include beta-blockers.

712042 tn?1254569209 I am nitro dependent 24/7 and have posted here before regarding my diagnosis severe cardiac microvascular dysfunction. I battle this non-obstructive macrovessel angina everyday wearing two 0.6mg patches and supplementing at least every two days with up to two nitro 0.4 mg sprays to pull me out of an episode. This top amount of .20 mg is the same amount of IV nitro used during my arrest in May '08 to 'stabilize' me ( EF was 64). I used to be able to do well in '08 on just 0.
