I just took NyQuil gel tablets, and, out of curiosity, checked the expiration date. To my surprise, it expired a year ago. Will I be fine? The chemicals in NyQuil don't break don't into something harmful, right? Thank you for your help.
May, 2009. With the Nitro tablets, I tried to keep them pretty current, but if I wasn't sure if they were still potent I'd simply put it to the test -- if I got a little headache when I took it, they were still potent. I'm sure I'll use the same 'test' with the spray as well.
My anxiety returned this year and I remember I still had the tablets in the cupboard. I only took two 1mg tablets and then stopped because I was too scared of dependency and withdrawal. Now I just have muscle aches in shoulder blade and arms. A bit on my neck. I also sleep in a bad position. So not sure. Could that be withdrawal. Even though it’s only 2 day with 1mg each day.
I was under enormous stress when the pains started and the fear that it was cardiac in origin added to it. I had the nitroglycerin sublingual tablets. I took them, sometimes they helped, other times they didn't. To this day I have no definitive answer as to the cause of my pains, but they seem to have subsided for the past 6-7 months. Try the nitro and see if it helps. My guess is that it won't help indigestion, but would if it was due to vasospasm or other cardiac cause.
I would be more concerned about the expiration date on your medications. Please check the date and don't take any expired meds.
Yes you are prone to serotonin syndrome as both are serotonergic. You should reduce both your fluoxetine and buspirone dosage to play it safe but don't break any capsules (I think Prozac is in capsules and you should never open a capsule). I think the Buspar is in tablets so its okay to break in half.
For the spasms themselves, the drug of choice is an anti-spasm med. These meds can include drugs such as bentyl, nitroglycerin and certain specific calcium channel blockers. Librax is typically not suggested for either contdition as it can result in relaxation of the lower esophageal sphincter and an increase in reflux into the esophagus. Many drugs affect the LES and they should be avoided.

Most everything lasts a while past expiration before deterioration, including food. Expiration dates have a margin of safety built in. That being said, the above is true, but vitamins usually have way more that anyone needs in them so a little deterioration in potency isn't that big a deal depending on why you're taking them. After all, much of them just goes down the toilet anyway, so again, a margin of safety is built in there, too.

I take a nitrate (isosorbide) for more than 6 years 3 times before going to gym for workout. My blood pressure does not drop between intervals...in fact I was told to have intervals of nitrate free period. It is true, nitro dilates the coronary vessels and prevents angina (chest pain). The patch should only be worn for up to 12 to 14 hours a day, or as directed by your doctor, but continued use with no interruptions can cause a tolerance for drug....
I only take isosorbide prior to a workout, and nitro when engaged in an activity that brings on angina. I understand your doctors are suggesting taking isosorbide daily as aschemia does not always produce angina even though the heart cells are not getting sufficient blood supply. This can lead to a silent heart attack so the medication is recommended continuously whether there is angina or not and older people in general are likely to have a silent heart attack.
The pain lasts anywhere from a few minutes to several hours. I have been prescribed nitroglycerin to take as needed for chest pain and this medicine surely helps. I've had several EKGs and cardiac enzymes done which were all normal. I also had a threadmill/stress test done which was normal. My cardiologist thinks the the probability of me having an occluded/blocked coronary artery is very low.
Where did you 'find' said tablets? There IS a max dose per day and a set amount you should take that you should not go over. Using the proper dosing is essential. Not taking too much is essential either at once or over the coarse of the day. Is this prescribed to you? What happens to medication when it expires typically is NOT increased side effects but rather decreased efficacy (doesn't work as well).
These were precribed to me but I noticed the bottle expiration date is 10/2008. I have almost full bottles so I haven't thrown them out. Can I consider these safe? My husband says yes.
