for some reason our hearts misfire and this causes a fast heart rate and can cause chest pain. There putting me on meds and I may have to have surgery but I wouldnt worry about that because he said that its rare. In fact most of the time no treatment is neccessary. However it is important to get an appt. w/ a cardiologist, b/c its not good for your heart to work that hard all the time. -Good luck!

What would happen if you rubbed pure nitroglycerin on your skin?
I'd like to know the symptoms on and below the skin. I know that nitroglycerin is used for anginas, but I also know that it's generally mixed with something else, so I'm curious about how well pure nitroglycerin would work and what it would do.
And if you had a vial of pure nitroglycerin, what could you mix it with to be able to use it as ointment?
I had a tilt table test done today. I have had issues with tachycardia and more specifically postural changes affecting my heart rate. When I started the test my heart rate was around 90 bpm, when they tilted me up my heart rate went into the 130's, they did give me 1 nitroglycerin and they said my heart rate went upto 160. During this time they reported my blood pressure as being good and not dropping much during the test.
and after evaluating my blood work - which actually came out fine except for a borderline cholesterol 200 and checking me and my BP (which is still high 160/100) he told me that due to having Hypertension since a long time ago - more than 15 years now , i have a somehow a big heart and being so uncontrolled is the main cause of the tachycardia and i cant exactly remember if he said its atrial or venticular tachycardia and he gave me logimax and cordarone 2 pills each everyday , he didnt tell

My husband is 76 years old. He had a heart catherization recently and was found to have several blocked arteries. He had 2 stents put in 2011. Are the risks too great for my husband at his age with insulin dependent diabetes for 19 years to have open heart surgery?

The pain lasts anywhere from a few minutes to several hours. I have been prescribed nitroglycerin to take as needed for chest pain and this medicine surely helps. I've had several EKGs and cardiac enzymes done which were all normal. I also had a threadmill/stress test done which was normal. My cardiologist thinks the the probability of me having an occluded/blocked coronary artery is very low.
