572651 tn?1530999357 Hi Lulu I recommend you join the thisisms forum and chek the latested discoveries and studies, related to MS as being a vascular problem and in particular the jugular veins being blocked, so no wonder why nitroglycerin is helping you.
Avatar m tn After that till this time ther is no problem and i have never visited a Cardiologist also. I had little BP which is well undercontrol with medicines. I am told that Doctors in USA prescribe Sorbitrate to the Ischaemic patients and also for senior citizens. Is it true. If so will you suggest me to keep sorbitrate, if so what is the minima dosage i have to kept. Please excuse me for having taken your valuable time.
Avatar f tn Went to see my Ob who checked my cervix and discharge and said it was due to the heparin jabs I was taking. he explained due to its anti coagulant properties some women do experience spotting but as long as its not fresh blood it is considered ok to continue with the heparin injections. I am to stop if its fresh blood and go in to see him. Had a scan and baby was fine (thank God).
Avatar m tn What would happen if you rubbed pure nitroglycerin on your skin? I'd like to know the symptoms on and below the skin. I know that nitroglycerin is used for anginas, but I also know that it's generally mixed with something else, so I'm curious about how well pure nitroglycerin would work and what it would do. And if you had a vial of pure nitroglycerin, what could you mix it with to be able to use it as ointment?
Avatar f tn Is it normal to give heparin to a patient who has had TIA's and high blood pressure?
8958586 tn?1481360712 ve been having difficulty taking deep breaths. It was a contrast CT and they used my port access to give me the contrast. After they were finished, they didn't flush the port, but just administered the heparin. After my IVIg treatments, they saline flush my port with two syringes before they do the heparin. I'm nervous about asking nurses to do something, as have had bad experiences with nurses needing to be right.
Avatar m tn My wife is 7.5 months pregnant and currently taking heparin and baby aspirin for maternal antipaternal antibodies. She will be stopping the heparin at 36 weeks. What are the risks to the baby after the heparin is stopped and should she be induced after stopping the heparin?
Avatar f tn Okay so I am 37+4 and I have been on Heparin for a little over a week now and was on lovenox since I found out I was pregnant due to a DVT I had back in June of 2012 after gallbladder surgery. My question is can I request to be induced? Its been stressful and I'm worried about going into labor naturally and not being able to have an epidural or having complications due to having to be on this medication. Does anyone think I would be able to be induced because of this risk factor?
Avatar f tn If you miss a dose of Nitroglycerin Patch, use it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not use 2 doses at once. When used for long periods of time without a break, some people develop a physical need to continue taking Nitroglycerin Patch. This is known as physical DEPENDENCE. Do not suddenly stop taking Nitroglycerin Patch without your doctor's approval.
1391531 tn?1289164143 my sister is 37 week along we just found out she has a blood clot in her groin she was hospitalized put on heparin drip and pain meds what are the risk to her and the baby she is not in labor but at 4 cm
Avatar n tn Both of my deliveries were induced at 39 weeks. I stopped taking the heparin the day before and went in the next morning to have my babies. Best of luck with everything!
Avatar m tn My husband is 76 years old. He had a heart catherization recently and was found to have several blocked arteries. He had 2 stents put in 2011. Are the risks too great for my husband at his age with insulin dependent diabetes for 19 years to have open heart surgery? His cardiologist so far has put him a medication regimen to try to help with his blocked arteries. The only sympton he has had with the placing of the stents was Chest Pressure, no other symptoms.
Avatar n tn For me, I had a wonderful delivery after my epidural (before the epidural was hellish...), it was calm and I was relaxed and could focus on the details of the moment.
Avatar m tn I have had several fingers freeze up and not want to come out of the attacks for hours and that causes the nail splentors and i even had a bad infection in one finger. I was sent to a rhumotologist to be dianosed with CREST. Sorry about the spelling! I started the nitro glycerin patches about 3 weeks ago at 0.1 dose and stayed on that for 3 weeks and now i'm on the next step up 0.
Avatar n tn I still had stable angina every time I did some for of cardio activity or is I ate something with sodium. I started using Nitroglycerin patches and even have the pills just in case my angina episode occurs. I had a date and I read online that you can't take viagra and any nitrates cause it can drop your blood pressure really low. So I stopped using my nitroglycerin for about 48 hours so I can take the Viagra.
1098952 tn?1270309713 If a person with HCM were to take nitroglycerin, the symptoms would worsen and the nitroglycerin could even cause a catastrophic deterioration in the person's condition".
286207 tn?1249282027 So they put me on heparin and baby aspirin and I conceived and gave birth to a healthy little girl in April. I will do heparin and baby aspirin again when starting to try for #2!!!
Avatar n tn My mother had gone through a sleeve gastrectomy operation 3 weeks ago. On the 22nd post-operative day, due to severe pain in the epigastric zone, her doctor ordered an abdominal CT. It turns out that portal vein and superior mesenteric vein are thrombosed. They put her on enoxaparin and wanted her to rest for 5 days until the next control. She refused to be put on heparin or warfarin because of her history of gastrointestinal bleeding and recent surgery.
Avatar n tn This is known as physical DEPENDENCE. If you use Nitroglycerin Patch without a break and then suddenly stop using it, you may get WITHDRAWAL symptoms. No high bp but may include chest pain, heart attack, or possibly sudden death. Be sure to have a "nitrate-free" period of time each day; this may help prevent dependence and withdrawal problems". 604185 tn?1233960857 im not taking heparin but i have seen a lot of stories on the forum of women who have blood clotting disorders that took heparin and baby aspirins and had a healthy pregnancy. Try not to worry or stress out, it is perfectly safe.
Avatar m tn The pain lasts anywhere from a few minutes to several hours. I have been prescribed nitroglycerin to take as needed for chest pain and this medicine surely helps. I've had several EKGs and cardiac enzymes done which were all normal. I also had a threadmill/stress test done which was normal. My cardiologist thinks the the probability of me having an occluded/blocked coronary artery is very low.
Avatar f tn We usually admit the patients 3 days prior to the surgery when we withhold coumadin and start heparin once the INR is less than 2.0. After surgery we usually start the heparin 12 hours after the surgery and coumadin shortly thereafter. The patient usually don't leave the hospital until their INR above 2.0. These are not hard and fast rules, and some physicians are more careful than others.
