Avatar f tn With a diagnosis of P.O.T.S. and if the fainting happened with standing, as can happen to some with P.O.T.S., then it is unlikely you will pass out while sitting in a car, because standing intolerance is how your body is manifesting the dysfunction of your autonomic nervous system. I'm glad your echocardiogram was fine. Did you get any event holter monitoring done or just resting EKG/ECGs as far as taking a look at your heart rhythm goes?
967168 tn?1477584489 For a dx of NCS (Neurocardiogenic Syncope) are there the same parameters with other ANS issues such as an excessive rise or fall as in bp/hr with PoTS and OI? If so, is it? >30 points like with PoTs? <20points like with OI? Also, for proper diagnosis, does that include when there is minimal increase/decrease during the 20 min standing time or does that include when they give the med like Nitro to increase symptoms? I've tried to find this answer and can't anywhere.

Avatar m tn What would happen if you rubbed pure nitroglycerin on your skin? I'd like to know the symptoms on and below the skin. I know that nitroglycerin is used for anginas, but I also know that it's generally mixed with something else, so I'm curious about how well pure nitroglycerin would work and what it would do. And if you had a vial of pure nitroglycerin, what could you mix it with to be able to use it as ointment?
Avatar m tn My cardiologist has me taking 75 mg, of Lopressor, 360 mg, of verapamil, .4 mg nitroglycerin patch. And now he wants to add 10 mg of Ramapril ( Altace ) a day, my recent cardiosrams have have shown sinus bradycardia. That's before starting the Ramapril , I'm just very leary about starting the Ramapril in first of all the highest dose there is, and second of all it could further lower my heart rate and send my heart in to an AV Block that could lead to many things not good !
Avatar f tn If you miss a dose of Nitroglycerin Patch, use it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not use 2 doses at once. When used for long periods of time without a break, some people develop a physical need to continue taking Nitroglycerin Patch. This is known as physical DEPENDENCE. Do not suddenly stop taking Nitroglycerin Patch without your doctor's approval.

Avatar m tn My husband is 76 years old. He had a heart catherization recently and was found to have several blocked arteries. He had 2 stents put in 2011. Are the risks too great for my husband at his age with insulin dependent diabetes for 19 years to have open heart surgery? His cardiologist so far has put him a medication regimen to try to help with his blocked arteries. The only sympton he has had with the placing of the stents was Chest Pressure, no other symptoms.
Avatar m tn I have had several fingers freeze up and not want to come out of the attacks for hours and that causes the nail splentors and i even had a bad infection in one finger. Avatar n tn I still had stable angina every time I did some for of cardio activity or is I ate something with sodium. I started using Nitroglycerin patches and even have the pills just in case my angina episode occurs. I had a date and I read online that you can't take viagra and any nitrates cause it can drop your blood pressure really low. So I stopped using my nitroglycerin for about 48 hours so I can take the Viagra.

Avatar n tn This is known as physical DEPENDENCE. If you use Nitroglycerin Patch without a break and then suddenly stop using it, you may get WITHDRAWAL symptoms. No high bp but may include chest pain, heart attack, or possibly sudden death. Be sure to have a "nitrate-free" period of time each day; this may help prevent dependence and withdrawal problems". Avatar m tn The pain lasts anywhere from a few minutes to several hours. I have been prescribed nitroglycerin to take as needed for chest pain and this medicine surely helps. I've had several EKGs and cardiac enzymes done which were all normal. I also had a threadmill/stress test done which was normal. My cardiologist thinks the the probability of me having an occluded/blocked coronary artery is very low.
Avatar f tn It means you have some instances of bradycardia. How significant it is depends on what you were doing at the time and your symptoms. For example was your instance of a 30 bpm heart rate during a period of vagal stimulation? Were you using the bathroom? Sleeping? Did you just stand up after sitting in a chair for a few hours? Then youd need to know, were you symptomatic at the time? How,did you feel? This is why accurate journal entries are important.
351404 tn?1299489130 I have been diagnosed with bradycardia and atrial fibrillation and will soon be given a dual chamber permanent pacemaker. I notice that in the doctor's reply it was said that a pacemaker didn't treat AF. This has confused me since my understanding of a pacemaker is that it gives you a regular sinus heartbeat and that arrhythmias would be a thing of the past. If it doesn't treat arrhythmia, then what use is it?
Avatar f tn they can do some simple tests on you to make sure your bradycardia is ok and does not need medication to control. If you are having bradycardia while exercising then the dr. would want to make sure it was not happening worse while you slept. Snd yes, low blood pressure does cause fatigue and dizziness. Good luck to you!
Avatar f tn Its difficult to answer your questions without knowing the general health, medical history, etc. Usually, aerobic exercise is benefical for the heart. A guideline for aerobic exercise is not exceed a pulse rate greater than 220-your age. You may want to reach a heart rate less than the recommended rate until you can comfortly have a heart rate of 144 without being out of breath with a 30 minute workout at least 3 times a week.
11389921 tn?1417798614 ). I had an echo that was normal with 60-65% EF and only trace tricuspid and pulmonic valvular regurgitation. The Cardiologist did a nuclear stress test that showed EF at 60% but abnormal EKG with NSR, anteroseptal MI. There was a "moderate sized basal and mid segment anterior wall perfusion abnormality of moderate intensity that worsens during stress, suggestive of reversible ischemia. Appeared to be old MI with mild peri-infarct ischemia".
Avatar n tn I have sick sinus syndrome with afib. and bradycardia. I take flecainide 150mg twice a day. Any time that I need an antibiotics doctors, other than my cardiologist, struggle to find one that isn't countraindicated.
