I am told that Doctors in USA prescribe Sorbitrate to the Ischaemic patients and also for senior citizens.Is it true. If so will you suggest me to keep sorbitrate, if so what is the minima dosage i have to kept.

What would happen if you rubbed pure nitroglycerin on your skin?

High blood pressure will overwork the heart (afterload) and this will enlarge the left ventricle. The heart beats faster to meet the demand for more oxygenated blood and that is consistant with an enlarged LV as an enlarged heart will reduce the LV contractility (less blood pumped with each stroke).
Reducing the heart's afterload the LV can return to normal size. So reducing the high blood pressure is the key.
Hey there, I have come to this community to ask a question of concern dealing with LVH. I am 22 years old, male, found out I have hypertension last year and this year I had a heart echo that showed LVH of 1.5mm thickness they say normal is 1.1? I'm currently eating better as in healthier..I've lost 20lbs down to 214 from 235+ I jog/walk uphill on the tread mill 30-40 mins 6 days a week I stopped weight lifting unless it's light.
My husband is 76 years old. He had a heart catherization recently and was found to have several blocked arteries. He had 2 stents put in 2011. Are the risks too great for my husband at his age with insulin dependent diabetes for 19 years to have open heart surgery?
His cardiologist so far has put him a medication regimen to try to help with his blocked arteries.
The only sympton he has had with the placing of the stents was Chest Pressure, no other symptoms.
The medication will almost always reverse remodeling when the workload (referred to as afterload) is reduced. The medication you are receiving lowers the afterload by decreasing the resistance the heart pumps against. My medication is lisinopril (ACE inhibitor) and coreg (beta blocker).

The pain lasts anywhere from a few minutes to several hours. I have been prescribed nitroglycerin to take as needed for chest pain and this medicine surely helps. I've had several EKGs and cardiac enzymes done which were all normal. I also had a threadmill/stress test done which was normal. My cardiologist thinks the the probability of me having an occluded/blocked coronary artery is very low.

Medication should be focused on reducing fluids, increasing the strength of contractions, and reducing the afterload i.e dilate vessels, etc. If the afterload is reduced, a heart with a low EF may be able to meet the demand (reduce demand by less exertion), etc.
Cold weather adds an extra burden on the heart as the system demand will increase in an attempt to supply more blood to the peripherals to warm. A weak heart may not be able to meet that burden and provide blood to the vital areas.

I am 21 years old and had a stress test. The findings were: On the stress images there is a small area of slight decreased perfusion seen in the anterior wall of the myocardium on the stress portion of the study. There is overall diffuse global hypokinesis present. The left ventricular ejection fraction calculated is approximately 49%. Left ventricle also appears dilated for patients age.
There is an assumption made here high bp causes a dilated left ventricle due to overcompensation. If the low EF is due to hardening and thickening of the heart walls and/or damaged heart tissues a correction in bp pressure, etc may not do much to increase the EF, but medication can slow or stop the process of heart failure.
Your question seems to imply a negative correlation of high blood pressure to a low EF and what is the calculus?. I don't beleive there is a calculation...
Tolerance occurs when a medicine loses its effectiveness and may not seem to work as well. A doctor may prescribe a daily schedule of using nitroglycerin 12 to 18 hours on and 6 to 12 hours off to prevent the development of tolerance.
