My ultra sound was normal, as well as the urinalysis (taken when no symptoms of a uti were present). I then started taking Nitrofurantoin Macrocrystal (a daily antibiotic or taken after sex, also called Macrodantin). The UTIs went away during this time. On 04/17 I was prescribed Nitrofuran (100mg twice a day for 7 days) for a UTI. I finished the pills and everything went well, but the week after the end of the treatment, on 05/02, I experienced a tingling/numbness sensation in all my fingers except my thumb on my right hand only. It started at the tip of the fingers and slowly went down to about half of my palm and lasted maybe 7 or 8 hours before disappearing.
9 days ago Nitrofurantoin (200g a day for 5 days) was taken and daily birth control (Qlaira). Both are known to decrease levels of haptoglobin but nothing about complete depletion.
Could this be an extended effect from Nitrofurantoin? When should the test be repeated ?
A couple of weeks later I developed a urinary tract infection. Urologist prescribed nitrofurantoin for the infection. Immediatedly after starting the antibiotic my ears gradually starting feeling clogged. Now, two weeks later, they are both very clogged (no wax buildup) and I can barely hear. Logic tells me the ear clogging is somehow connected to the nitrofurantoin. Has anyone ever experienced this or heard of this happening? Will this clogging go away by itself?

I have been taking ciprobid, doxyl and nitrofurantoin for a month now. but still the is no change. I still have some pains. m seeing obviously wants to rule out sti but with symptoms clearing up would it be normal of a sti to do this and what are the possible causes of my current and reduced symptoms. Feb. 16th was the start of the crippling diarrhea. April 1st I made a trip to the walk-in clinic, unable to bear it any longer. Started Alinia (an anti-diarrheal medication, which I can't find evidence that actually does anything to kill the parasite, only treats the diarrhea) the next day. 50 mg for 3 days. The treatment seemed to work, but my GI tract still hasn't gone back to "normal". Since the crypto, I have been on 3 different antibiotics in the last 3 months.
However it was sensible to amoxicillin clavulanic, fosfomycine, nitrofurantoin and imipenem. So the doctor choice was amox clav 4 weeks and 1 dose of fosfomycice 3 g every week.
My question is: if my ecoli is resistant to amox but sensible amox clav is it the best choice? Doctor answer was that the clavulanic acid would protect the amox and kill the bacteria. Another thing is the prostate penetration, which from what ive read is very poor with amox clav.
I took nitrofurantoin for a UTI infection and finished my course on Tuesday morning. Yesterday (Friday), I noticed what appears to be hives (small raised bumps with no redness, they didn’t itch) on my legs. I counted 13 - primarily on my thighs and shins. They appear to be gone today, but after I took my puppy for a walk this morning, I noticed small red bumps on my feet and they itched. Is this an allergic reaction to the antibiotics?
Take all of your antibiotics & drink LOTS of water. Some people will say cranberry juice, my my urologists says that plain water is always the best. And any time you have to urinate, go! This will help flush the bacteria out of your bladder. The best way to prevent bladder infections is to drink lots of water, NEVER hold your pee for a long amount of time, & always wipe from front to back.
