nitrofurantoin and nausea

I woke up on thursday morning with a sore throat and a cough, on Friday morning i noticed a rash on my face and it is still there. Has any one had a reaction like this?

I have been prescribed nitrofurantoin (macrobid) for a UTI. I have a hard time swallowing pills. Can these be broken up?

SHe wanted to take sample for Pap smear but coudlnt bcos of inflammation n pain and prescribed - nitrofurantoin, urispas..pessery etc. Nitrofurantoin again seems to be an antibiotic and within the first day..it helped in vaginal problem but stomach issues shot up again. I hardly could take half a bread piece in one go...everything seems to be bitter, even water...I have lost 5 kgs in these 40 days and of course physical n mental energy n efficiency. I visit the doctor again and she gave me Nitrofurantoin antibiotics and after taking them once, instantly my erections returned and tests returned to normal size -I am taking 100mg twice in a day . The next day I woke up and my erections were gone again and testes shrunk, I took Nitrofurantoin and nothing is happening . I’m so scared I have phoned 111 and told them this and they told me to Go to my doctor again - the doctor said she gave me antibiotics already and refused to see me !

I would ask the doctor and/or pharmacist if the tingling will go away after she gets off the Nitrofurantoin and if so then if she can tolerate it and it is working well then you can either up to dose of neurontin or try to tolerate it until the antibiotic is finished. If not then switch. I would not go off anything until talking to the doctor. Depending on the dose of Gabapin, she may have to taper off of it as you cannot go off of it immediately. You will get rebound insomina.

9 days ago Nitrofurantoin (200g a day for 5 days) was taken and daily birth control (Qlaira). Both are known to decrease levels of haptoglobin but nothing about complete depletion. Could this be an extended effect from Nitrofurantoin? When should the test be repeated ?

I have just got to 3 days on nitrofurantoin for uti, dizziness and headache got too bad as side effects. And now I'm losing my hearing too, no wax. It's inside and pain all over my face. Still dizzy, hearing been getting worse all day. Very quick. It's definitely the nitrofurantoin. I wondered as it says it can swell the salivary glands, cause sore throats and constant cold if it's to do with thst or a part of the nerve damage side effect? Did it resolve for you?

I have recently been feeling unwell and have recurring UTI’s and been on Nitrofurantoin. I also take levothyroxine for an under active thyroid. I recently had a LFT and my ALT was 934. My GGT was 140 and bilirubin 37. I am having an urgent scan tomorrow but the drs seem at a loss as to what is causing this? Any advice or help?

He told I had almost nothing in terms of UTI and in my partner there was an indication that she had UTI, and we were both put on medication, but after the medication, I still feel the pain. I have been experiencing on average one urinary tract infection per month for the past two years. After seeing many doctors and being prescribed different antibiotics, I saw a urologist and had some tests done. My ultra sound was normal, as well as the urinalysis (taken when no symptoms of a uti were present). I then started taking Nitrofurantoin Macrocrystal (a daily antibiotic or taken after sex, also called Macrodantin). The UTIs went away during this time.

I still have a very small amount of white/clear discharge though and when ejaculating my semen is white and gelatinous. The urine samples and swab came back clear but showing more than normal amounts of white blood cells. The gp I'm seeing obviously wants to rule out sti but with symptoms clearing up would it be normal of a sti to do this and what are the possible causes of my current and reduced symptoms.

However it was sensible to amoxicillin clavulanic, fosfomycine, nitrofurantoin and imipenem. So the doctor choice was amox clav 4 weeks and 1 dose of fosfomycice 3 g every week. My question is: if my ecoli is resistant to amox but sensible amox clav is it the best choice? Doctor answer was that the clavulanic acid would protect the amox and kill the bacteria. Another thing is the prostate penetration, which from what ive read is very poor with amox clav.

I took that Rx as well for a UTI and have had no problems. I am now 22 weeks and 5 days and at 19 weeks my little boy was just as active and weighed 13 ozs already. The Ultra Sound Tech said that is the size of a 22 week baby.
