I've been dealing with gerd issues for the last half year. Colonoscopy and endoscopy were negative. I did do a series of rolling barium stomach xray which did show my stomach was on a roller coaster ride. I've been on most of the meds for gerd, from Zantac to Nexium to Lansoprazole to Pantoprazole. In December I started to develope numbness in my left foot and right hand. (Last night I noticed my left anke was swollen.

It mostly works for my GERD - without it it is unbearable. The problem I have is the terrible side effects. They are all gastrointestinal. I am miserable all the time. I feel like my food takes FOREVER to digest and move through my system! I feel like when I eat the food just "sits" there for such a long time. I feel constipated, but can "go" most days, though not completely. I have gained about 8 pounds, and most days I look like I'm pregnant!

I started taking Pradaxa less thatn a montha ago and am taking the same dosage and noticed the same heartburn and was prescribed Nexium for it. That is one of the side effects. I really did not experience the fatigue but I do have hip pain but I think that is due to skipping the gym for a couple of weeks. I'd call the Doc and let them know what is up.

Hi I had a colonscopy 10/09/09, and I'm still having side effects. At first I couldn't stop going liquid then it cleared up for a couple of days now it's back.They found 4 polyps again beign but the kind that can turn into cancer so I have to have another next year. My doctor prescribed reglan too, but the side effects have me scared! Do you notice any side effects, and how often do you take it?

Well if any of you are taking nexium that may be why I have been taking nexium for 3 weeks now it seems like everytime i did i would feel dizzy nauseous and got diarrea so i stop taking it and im feeling less dizzy still nauseaus but is only been the second day im off the nexium and i believe that all dose symptoms are all side effects of nexium

thanks so much for your comment. have you tried any type of natural herb? my brother-in-law has cancer of the esophagus and his doctor said it could have been from the drug that he was taking and the drug was nexium. have you heard about this link of anti-acid medication to cancer?

I just read on another site that being on Nexium can cause biliary dyskinesia. Can anyone relate to this? I was on it once previous to this go-around and had stopped taking it for a few months. Then a horrible acid reflux hit. I was on Lorazepam, at the time, too, when the acid reflux hit.

After about 3 months, was having bad low back pain and pain on the top of both thighs. I then had a left rib fracture of unknown cause. At that time, no side effects like this were published. I did find a small group with similar symptoms but my Doc said it was not the Nexium. I stopped it and within 4 days, the flank and thigh pain were gone. I was later put on Omeprazole, 40 mg 2x a day fir the past few months. Not sure yet, but my low back muscles are killing me.
