nexium how to take

I went to a GI and she prescribed me with nexium in the morning (I usually take nexium everytime my gerd acts up) and zantac in the evening before bedtime. The next day, we went to my pulmonologist for my routine checkup, since I had primary spontaneous pneumothorax last november.

I would like to take my 1 Nexium pill a day pretty soon after I wake up, but I heard that it is best to take these pills at the same time everyday. I usually wake up at 10am, but at least twice a week, I may randomly get up at 7am. In the latter case, should I Take the pill around 7-ish, or just wait the 3 hours?

My doc prescribed me 40mg nexium for the next month to see if it helps with my reflux. He told me to take it with food since the stomach cells need to be active (food activates them) for most benefit. That is in complete contradiction to the label, which says to take it 1hr before eating. I have taken other PPIs and they also suggest the 1hr before eating rule.

Seems like I got rid of pain in one area to only have it shift to another. I know it can take weeks for nexium to work, but anyone have similar symptoms?

I have been having really bad heartburn and a burning feeling in my stomach. I was told to take Nexium but I have a severe allergy to penicillin. My question is, can I take nexium if I'm allergic to penicillin?

Yes nexium is ok to take, i hane cirrhosis and thats what my hepo ordered for me, he did switch me to prilosec only because its over the counter same as prevacid which is also ok.............

it is different, t has a second release later in the day. My acid reflex is so bad that I have to take the 60 mg. pill twice a day but it works well. No more acid, no more pain. They may say all these meds are alike but until you have to use them you know they are not. BTW Kapadex has this special promotion. If you get a prescription from your doctor you can go online and register and print out this card or your doctor can give you the card if he is a gastro doc and has them.

I've had to tale rolaids and or tums due to heartburn.....I did it with my daughters pregnancy and had no issues with her......pregnant with another girl and I've had to take them to help again.....

and have no reflux for about 6 mos. I would like to stop Nexium forever. I realize I may have to take something in place of it. I take 40mg daily of nexium daily. I was having acid attacks even with the Nexium, alway at night when sleeping. I have the wedge, extra pillows etc. Garvistan, Tums next to my bed. I once asked Dr. when could I stop Nexium he said I would need to lose weight. I have low iron, low B levels. Thinning hair etc. I already have spinal stenosis.

Did they give u tips on how to avoid triggers,, such as do not lay down for 3 to 4 hrs after eating, elevate the head of ur bed...avoid spicy, fatty foods, carbonated and alcoholic drinks and what ever r ur triggers. How is the stress in ur life?Have u tried to reduce it with meditation or other means? Make sure u r taking Magnesium and Vit D,with calcium when taking these meds especially during this change in ur life when all is off balance.

Yes, you can take both your Synthroid and Nexium together in the morning an hour before breakfast. That is the best way to take them both.

Yes this is fairly common during tx, check with you doctor about giving you either nexium, prevacid, or prilosec. All are safe to take, nexium and prevacid worked best for me. Congrats on being over halfway done. Wishing you the best.

hi i take prilosec 20 mg a day i took it about 4 to 5 hours ago and im also prescribed klonopin .5 as needed i wanted to know if i wanted to take klonopin now would it be safe to take it ?

My dermatologist thinks that is is due to prolonged use of Nexium. So if I can no longer take Nexium for acid reflux what can I take? Thanks.

Since he has been on the nexium he has gained 20-30lbs and is now feeling bloated and worse than before. I just do not know what to do about this anymore. I do not know what it could be caused from. If maybe I could get a diet for this type of thing so i knew what kinds of foods that would be best for his stomach and or a better diagnosis. Could this be IBS? We will be following up with a G.

Thank You very much for your input on the Nexium sure glad I no longer take the pill from hell. lol But I cant laugh about my health problems the Nexium has made me a prisoner in my own home and my toilet pain meds and heat packs have become my best friends. It has taken a lot away from me. I can't see my Grandchildren any time i want to like I use too do because I cant travel a long distance like I use to. My grandchildren live a three hour drive from where I live.
