535822 tn?1443976780 of 2009 -- and particularly the mass vaccination campaign that accompanied it -- is already becoming apparent in the form of an autoimmune disorder. A new review published in the journal Public Library of Science ONE confirms that Pandemrix, a swine flu vaccine produced by drug giant GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), is responsible for causing an up to 1700 percent increase in narcolepsy among children and teenagers under 17 years of age.
Avatar f tn Hi, my 19 yr old has a blocked vein, and now, after many tests, including a tilt table tests, and MSLT, shows she does not have narcolepsy. However, until this onset, the Dr was certain, as am I after much research, that she is having cataplectic attacks. However, due to the fact, there are only 4 diagnosed cases in the world, he is changing his mind, and treating her something totally different. I am looking for someone who has been diagnosed with cataplexy without narcolepsy.
Avatar f tn She herself does NOT particpate in any kind of drugs or unprotected vaginal sex. She does not particpate in anal sex. How much should I be worried. It has been six weeks. I have had a little nausea. I had not had any other symptoms. My doctors told me that although it has only been siw weeks I would have been experience uncontrolable direhrea and also possible pain in my liver.
Avatar f tn You should continue taking prescribed medications until your doctor gives some other instructions. If you are taking stimulant drugs for narcolepsy such as Provigil, it should be discontinued only under the direction of your physician. Generally the doctors ask the patients to discontinue taking the medication approximately five to seven days before the MSLT.
219241 tn?1413537765 I have very serious sensitivities to many drugs and would like to know if anyone is using this drug and what, if any, side effects (even mild) you may be experiencing. Forearmed is forewarned so I want to find out from as many people if it works for you or not and the side effects. Cheers!
807506 tn?1248649733 Can dopamine or steriod levels be tested for example. I have narcolepsy with cataplexy but I think there is somethin else wrong. I have been on experimental drugs as well as very hih doses of prednisone(as much as 100mg boosts as a child) and drugs like adrenaline, susphrine, theophilyn etc. I m concerned that its affected me. Ive read that prednisone has eliviated eds in narcolepsy, and I tke codeint to stay awake. Im thinking certain levels may have been affected. My Dr.
Avatar m tn you may wait for better drugs or try peginterferon, that low hbsag level has highest response on hbv genotype d
Avatar m tn i am not on any medication or drugs. it is kinda of a good feeling if i was sitting around doing nothing. and at the same time it should not be happening. i do have narcolepsy and the reason i add this is because i know this in itself has a lot of symptoms ie cataplexy sleep paralysis.
405614 tn?1329144114 s medically necessary, then I can use it as a medical expense, ask for an interim review, and get my rent lowered. I could call my disability worker, fax her the medically necessary paper, and get an increase in food stamps. It really has made that much difference. If I wouldn't have had 100 mg. today, there is no way I could have driven to my 8:15 am appt., or stood the 4 hours of tests and asked intelligent questions and remembered as many of his answers as I do, driven home, etc.

Avatar m tn m also always fatigued, sleepy and low energy, but I keep myself moving and motivated. I have been seeing a sleep specialist who diagnosed me with Narcolepsy (Polysomnograph and MSLT both suggestive of narcolepsy i.e. 4 SOREMs with mean latency of <8 minutes) About me: 24 years old white male, fair skinned with dark blonde hair, 6''0", 195lbs, in shape and athletic (work out and jog 5-6 days of the week). University educated and work in government policy, 9:00-5:00.
Avatar f tn Do you think you have narcolepsy? I wonder where your doctor got this idea. Narcolepsy is really interesting but can be dangerous. I have an uncle who has narcolepsy. He has had episodes that were kind of funny at the time, but when you think about it, it can get you hurt. How is the Provigil working for you? My neuro is willing to start me on it too to see if it helps with the fatigue. Fatigue is so challenging. It affects everything.
867808 tn?1239482070 Hi, my name is Valerie and I am 16 years old and I am always very tired everyday. I always get enough sleep, usually about 8 or 9 hours of sleep, yet I always have to take a naps. These are not short naps either, these naps can last from 4 to even 6 hours long. Usually on weekdays because I have school, I go to bed at about 8 or 9 and wake up at either 5 or 6 because of school.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with narcolepsy approx. 5 yrs. ago. I haven't gone for another sleep study since, nor has my doctor seem to ever remember that I have narcolepsy. I am his only patient with narcolepsy, and if I ever end up in his office, it seems like he always forgets that I have narcolepsy. I don't believe he has a good understanding of this. Any suggestions. I am in the process of trying to switch my doctor, but in the meanwhile, I have been more tired lately than usual.
Avatar f tn ve already been diagnosed with Thyroid Hoshimotos, and on top of that Narcolepsy, the most commonly associated symptom of Narcolepsy is excessive daytime sleepiness, which probably why you been dx with Chronic Fatigue as well, the constant level of fatigue could genuinely account for the cognitive issues you've been experiencing.
Avatar f tn I am 46 yrs old I have been Dx with EDD/narcolepsy and following recent sleep studies with central sleep apnoea. I have been on modofanil for 12 yrs . I am now on maximum dose of this and while it makes life semi bearable I have days where I am so tired it is difficult to describe. I have no idea wht to do next , whether to go back to sleep clinic or go see the neurologist or just soldier on . Seems to be the end result of most interventions anyways.
Avatar f tn If this has been ruled out, the excessive daytime sleepiness could be due to other disorders like narcolepsy. Adderall is used to treat narcolepsy. It could also be due to idiopathic hypersomnia. Please check with your doctor to rule out these conditions. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar m tn Hey ,1 month back i got disease "Bells Palsy" on right side of my face.I went to doctor they give me antiviral drugs, they didn't tell me any specific reason why it happens(may be due to cold exposure)this reason seems to be possible for me . they asked me whether i am diabetic or not,They took my MRI brain scan test, but they didn't found anything. Now it is completely gone within 2 weeks.

Avatar n tn Hi, welcome to the forum. Your history is suggestive of narcolepsy. In this condition there will be excessive daytime sleepiness. In this condition there will be “automatic behavior" such as driving past a highway exit or writing off a page, with no memory of the previous few minutes. Classical narcolepsy constitutes of Hypnagogic hallucinations, Sleep paralysis and Cataplexy (emotionally triggered muscle paralysis resulting in partial or complete collapse).
Avatar m tn Hello, Causes of excessive sleepiness are sleep-wake cycle disorder like in night shifts, sleep apnea and other sleep-related breathing disorders, psychiatric disorders like depression and schizophrenia, diabetes, obesity, restless leg syndrome, use of drugs or alcohol and narcolepsy(Abnormal sleep disorder leading to excessive daytime drowsiness). You should consult a sleep specialist and get all these causes ruled out.
