20003388 tn?1515166040 I'm just curious if anyone has been on Namenda and could tell me how long the initial brain fog lasted for you? I just started Namenda yesterday, 5 mg a day for 1 week then 10 mg a day in divided doses. I have memory issues and severe cognitive impairment. I was put on Namenda by a neurologist after a thorough examination. I expect the brain fog from starting Namenda up but am just trying to get a time frame for when I could expect the initial brain fog to wear off. Thanks everyone.
Avatar n tn What could be causing me to have all of them. I am under pretty good control as I take neurontin and namenda. Before I was put on namenda i was having rhizotomies almost every three months due to the excruciating pain.
Avatar n tn No need to worry. I used to teach classes on different Alzheimer's Medical treatments/medicines and know these meds better than the reps that sold them. Namenda is an add on Alzheimer's medication use to help glutamate regulation in the brain. The standard dose in 20mg a day after titration, so taking three 5mg tablets is not a problem.
Avatar f tn My neighbors doctor prescribed fluoxetine and namenda before MRI being done.test came back no signs of alzheimers disease. Should she continue to take ? She is 80 years old somewhat forgetful nothing to make you say you can't function she is 80.
Avatar n tn He is on Namenda and Plavix, is it possible that Adderall could help with his short term memory loss. Before the accident he lived on his own.
574118 tn?1305135284 Riluzole, Thyroxin and Namenda. There should be more as time increases. Also there are ongoing clinical studies in general as they find out more how to understand and treat bipolar depression.
Avatar f tn For 4 years I have done nearly nothing other than sit on the couch, watch tv, sleep, and surf the internet and for some of that time, attempt to work. Cooking and cleaning were just not ever done. Since taking the namenda, I have been more active - cook and clean some, have left the house more often but still only to grocery shop and get meds refilled. I have done some Xmas shopping this year, last couple of years I did none.
585414 tn?1288941302 In bipolar disorder, sometimes called manic-depressive illness, patients cycle between periods of elation and severe depression, and the depressive phase carries a high risk of suicide. It is commonly treated with mood stabilizers, including lithium, anticonvulsants and some antipsychotics, often in complex combinations. Both mania and depression usually improve on these drugs.
Avatar f tn She took 5mg nightly for 4 days and during that time she still had a headache, but no side effects. On the 5th day the headaches stopped, but now she's constantly nauseous and woozy. This has been going on for 4 days. Is this just a matter of her body adjusting to the drug?
Avatar n tn Hi Margypops, Axona is a brand-new prescription therapy launched in March 2009 for the treatment of mild-moderate Alzheimer's disease. As Alzheimer's is marked by a decrease in glucose in the brain (the primary source of food for the brain), Axona acts by providing/metabolizing glucose in the body to act as an alternate source of food for the brain.
Avatar n tn Hi, My mother has believed for several years that she has scabies. It started about 30-35 years ago when a kid at my grade school (I'm now 42) had scabies and they sent a letter around to the parents regarding what to watch for. At first she'd just talk about the possibility of it. Over the years, it got worse and worse. My mother is now 82 and she firmly believes she has it. She's always been boarderline obsessive compulsive about cleaning, but now its far worse.
Avatar n tn she sometimes forgets who her family members are and asks when is she going home, and insists that we are all conspiring against her and lying to her!!! she becomes hostile at times and rude.. I am the basic caregiver.. the oldest granddaughter, my aunt helps out as this is alot of work.. she has chronic kidney infections and now, since her last hospitalization has lost the ability to walk byherself with her walker..
Avatar f tn She did a mini neuro/cognitive eval and said this may be something more than MS. Now she has prescribed Namenda XR for me. I googled it and it says it's for Alzheimers. I do have family that have/had dementia/Alzheimers. Does anyone else with MS take this??? Or do you know anyone with MS that takes it? From what I read, it makes symptoms worse with people who have MS. Sad face...
Avatar n tn My mom's medication regeime has had risperdal added to it. She is alteady on zoloff and the standards for alzeheimer's including namenda. Since putting her on the risperdal she sleeps all the time, has had a to be restarted on blodd pressure medication and seems to be losing her mtor skills. I am very concened about these changes and wonder if the risperdal is the right dosage or medicine.

Avatar f tn I’m terrified to ask him because it’s my dear friends boyfriend and I don’t want to open up a can of worms for something that maybe didn’t happen. Is this OCD? I’m terrified this isn’t OCD and I’ve done this horrible thing. It would destroy a friendship I truly cherish and be the nail in the coffin for my own relationship with my boyfriend.
704262 tn?1247674638 Upon much reflexions, I came to identify my OCD as psychosis and not OCD, i.e. i use to do wrong things (not washing hands regularly like OCD do or open then close the door or afraid from touching things) but mainly it was racing thoughts which my old pdoc took it for OCD and now i know it's symptoms of BP. So perhaps your husband is never OCD rather BP only with much racing thoughts. In the book it also says (wikipedia too) that for BP to be discovered by pdocs often takes a decade.
767538 tn?1276575320 It actually worked the 1st day. During the infusions they put me on namenda which seemed to counteract the benefits of the ketamine and it made me sick. Its now 5 days after my infusions and Im starting to some pain so I am again trying the Namenda.

Avatar m tn t ever aware that we are checking). However, we all know our ocd is irrational and is completley not who we really are, it creates a paradox, making the sufferer into believing what he most dreads. In this book it said to explore the "unknown". The only way to stop suffering is by "not caring". Does anyone find it true that the more you care about what your fear is the more likely it is to become true. No matter how many times you check, the fear never goes away.
Avatar m tn Hi dr Sean, could you please answer my question. 3 weeks ago I had to inspect a drug rehab clinic and while there I shook hands with 2 workers. I had a 5 day old cut on my index finger and some dry skin on the back of my hand. I always put band aids on cuts until they're gone. But didn't this time. I didn't see if the people I shook hands with had any cuts on their hands or not. I didn't see any blood or fluid on my hand after. And I was not bleeding.
Avatar f tn I feel so horrible and all I went to do is confess…But I know that will only make my OCD worse and then I’ll find something else to fixate on and confess to that and then constantly needing reassurance its just a crash and burn kinda thing..Its almost like paranoia that he is somehow going to findout..these are where alot of the irrational thoughts come to play..Please help….Dont know what else to do anymore.
