Avatar m tn I am not physically restricted - I walk 1 mile or more day and do 10 minutes of other light exercises most days. My BP runs under 120/80 most of the time. I understand carvedilol helps prevent stiffening of the heart muscle and can help restore LV function to some degree. How specially, so it do this? What is the biochemical mechanism?
Avatar f tn I had similar issues as you back in September. After countless amounts of antibiotics, 2 weeks of Moxifloxacin finally did the trick for me. Best of luck.
Avatar n tn Amoxicillin is a penicillin type of antibiotic and Avelox is a quinilone. Different mechanisms of action but both antiobitics used to treat bacterial infections. Quinilones are used less frequently for sure due to some side effect issues and warnings about the class of drugs. Check with your doctor if you have any concerns but they are definately not the same thing. Often antibiotics have little niches that they are used in. good luck and hope you feel better.
Avatar m tn The mechanism of action of Campral® (acamprosate calcium) Delayed-Release Tablets in maintenance of alcohol abstinence is not completely understood. Originally, several neurotransmitter systems, including GABA, were investigated for a possible role in Campral's mechanism of action. However, recent evidence suggests Campral's main interaction is with the glutamate system. Chronic alcohol exposure is hypothesized to alter the normal balance between neuronal excitation and inhibition.
Avatar m tn Trust me, stay off all antibiotics, and if you’ve taken a course of Moxifloxacin, wait 4-6 weeks. Order the MyLabBox MG test. Give first void urine. At least then you’ll have an idea of what you are fighting. The next option is long course minocycline. A new antibiotic called Omadacycline could be tried. Or last ditch effort that has about 70% chance of cure is Pristinamycin...but you have to go to France to get it. Yes, MG is this bad.

Avatar m tn Oyakawa I am in my 3rd year of medical school and I was wondering the mechanism of action of steroid injections in the eyelid causing cataracts. It is not an osmotic agent so why does that occur? thanks so much.
Avatar m tn doxycycline, azithromycin and moxifloxacin. The first two failed to clear my infection and now I have two days that I finished the moxifloxacin 400 mg( 10 days treatment) clearing my symptoms. My question is, Is it possible for the bacteria to reoccur after the moxifloxacin treatment? And if yes what other option are there?

Avatar n tn A recent study was done to show that Myco was only erradicated by 85% of those on the Azithro regiment described, however Avelox ( Moxifloxacin) killed Myco in all cases. Routine is to try described Azithro regimen first and if symtoms still exist Moxifloxacin. Why? I guess so that Myco doesn't become Moxifloxacin resistant. Save the bugs, kill the patient kind of thing. I say take the 400mg a day X 10 day regiment of Moxifloxacin and help yourself.
Avatar m tn After returning to the US, I had tests done again which all came negative, including standard broad spectrum STD testing and even mycoplasma (blood test, not swab) yet symptoms still exist. I have gone through two courses of levofloxacin (30 days) and one course of moxifloxacin (10 days) yet it still persists. The moxifloxacin seemed to have more effectiveness. I've seen several similar posts in this community and hope someone can help or share their experience. Many thanks!
177275 tn?1511755244 “My choice is moxifloxacin with dexamethasone (Ocular Science), which I inject directly into the anterior chamber after cataract surgery. The combination consists of 0.5% moxifloxacin and 0.1% dexamethasone, giving 0.15 cg of this mix. What gets into the eye would be approximately 750 micrograms of the moxifloxacin and 150 micrograms of the dexamethasone. After I’ve taken the cataract out, I check my incisions like I normally would to make sure the incisions are water-tight.
Avatar f tn Plavix has a unique mechanism of action by blocking the amplification of platelet activation by released ADP, and often used with aspirin to prevent the risk of clots for the first year after DES implant. Plavix and aspirin have different mechanism of action to prevent clots. After a year, plavix is usually discontinue as the risk for clots is decreased, and aspirin is continued long term. The risk of a clot is about 3%.
Avatar f tn Cure rates with moxifloxacin are 100% According to some info I’ve found, and is used after Doxy and az. So id press to get moxifloxacin. moxifloxacin 400 mg daily for 7 to 14 days is the preferred antibiotic regimen.
Avatar m tn I first visited a Chinese STD hospital and tested positive for two forms of mycoplasma. I first took Doxycycline and then Moxifloxacin, neither one cleared up my symptoms. I will likely go to visit a urologist soon. I hope your problem was cleared up.

Avatar f tn Potassium is a chemical element and it is part of the electrolyte that should be in balance with other lytes to adequately conduct an electrical impulse that originates with the sinus node in the right atrium. The mechanism of action is not completely understood, but what is when a voltage (unit of potential for conduction) and electrolyte there will conduction and passage of electrical impluses.
Avatar m tn http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/578705 Ribavirin improves early responses to peginterferon through improved interferon signaling. Gastroenterology. 2010 Jul;139 The therapeutic mechanisms of ribavirin for hepatitis C are unclear. Microarray analyses have shown that ribavirin increases induction of interferon-stimulated genes. We evaluated viral kinetics, serum cytokine expression, and viral mutagenesis during early stages of peginterferon therapy with and without ribavirin.
Avatar f tn If so I would wait about a week before re-testing to get the antibiotic out of your system. Yes usually after treatment of up to 14 days you should be symptom free unless it is a resistant strain or you have something else causing the problem. According to an Australian article, "In Australia, Pristinamycin and solithromycin may be of clinical benefit for such multidrug-resistant infections.
Avatar m tn What did work was a combination of Moxifloxacin 400mg one per day for 10 days (in the morning), plus Rifampicin one pill per day for 10 days (at night). The combination of both of these together finally killed it!

Avatar n tn Some medications are actually derived from plants. The mechanism of action and effect on the body determines the classification, therefore, laxatives can be synthetic or natural.
Avatar n tn "Mechanism of Action Oxomemazine, a phenothiazine derivative, is a sedating antihistamine" The above information is about all I could find on this drug. If it is used in the US, I have no idea what label it's under. Even if I had been able to find more information, I am not qualified to tell you to either stop or start or change any medications. You need to speak with your doctor or chemist for an answer to your question.
